Chapter 14: Bai Shuang's Pestering
Bai Shuang looked ahead and saw Bai Ling, who was standing there still with fear and panic on her face. She connected the dots together and instantly came to a realization .
She walked past the crowd, straight to Bai Ling and sat in front of her.
"Hey Linger don't be afraid "With that she held her tightly in her arms.
Actually she was her cousin who came from Beijing with her mother to meet her. Bai Lian was her aunt and her husband died when they were married just for 2 years, it was an accident or it was that they knew.
Bai Shuang liked her aunt and the little sister of her very much , except her mother and grandfather they were the other people she was very close to . Bai Lian also treated her just like her daughter.
Linger who was still in her arms was trembling and sobbing , she was very scared of the earlier event till now .
She patted her back and after 2-3 minutes her sobbing stopped . She removed the hug and cupped her face and said while smiling "Linger don't cry now , look at your face, it looks very ugly while crying " .
Bai Ling who stopped crying now looked at her sister , she was no longer trembling and was happy seeing her sister again. "Sister i came to see you" She said with a smile.
"I know" She replied with a smile while patting her head .
Bai Lian who was talking with Ye Feng also returned to them till this point . She looked at both sisters with a smile on her face.
Bai Shuang stood up and gave her a hug and spoke " Aunty, i am very happy to see you".
"Me too".
With that she moved back and held Bai Ling's hand and said " Linger let's go home".
Bai Lian called someone and soon a Black Audi came , they got inside. While heading back to home Lian asked Shuang about Ye Feng to which she told her everything she knew about him, Lian was a little suprised when she got to know that he was an orphan and still he not accepted her help in future. This type of character was very hard to find , even if he was not in need now , he could have asked her for her information it would have helped him if he got himself into any trouble.
They were dressed in good clothes and with her refined appearance and beauty , anyone could tell that they come from a good family. Still he did not asked for everything.
"Shuang you should thank him again tomorrow and should make a good relationship with him. If he is in trouble in future you can directly contact me , i will do anything to help him out" She said with a serious tone.
"Don't worry aunty, i will definitely thank him properly " she replied, while thinking about many things.
Later they talked about many things while heading home .
The next day, Ye Feng went to school as usual, but today, people looked at him differently. News of his heroic deed had spread, and many students admired him for saving the girl. Even their teacher praised him in front of the class.
During lunch break, as Ye Feng stepped out into the hallway, he felt the weight of the newfound attention. His head throbbed slightly from the overwhelming attention. He hadn't expected such a big deal to be made about it.
"Ye Feng!" a voice called from behind. He didn't need to turn around to know who it was. Bai Shuang was already catching up with him, her voice full of energy as she hurried to meet him.
"Hey, Miss Shuang," he replied, keeping his tone neutral.
She grinned widely, clearly excited. "So, what happened yesterday? I heard all about it!"
Ye Feng stiffened slightly. He tried to dismiss the praise. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oh come on!" she teased, bouncing beside him. "You saved Linger, didn't you? I saw it! You yanked her out of the road like a hero. My aunt told me everything! You were all, like, super heroic and everything!"
Ye Feng shot her a glance, a slight frown pulling at his lips. "It wasn't a big deal, Miss Shuang. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Her grin didn't falter. "Oh, I know you're going to act all cool about it, but I saw you. You were like the guy in those action movies, yanking her out of danger without a second thought. You were heroic, Ye Feng!"
"I wasn't a hero," he muttered, his voice slightly stiffer than usual. "I just did what anyone would've done. She's just a kid."
She laughed, her eyes sparkling with affection. "That's the thing! You didn't just react like anyone else. You acted without hesitation, without thinking about it. You care more than you let on."
Ye Feng kept his gaze straight ahead, not used to being called out like this. "I don't care about it. Don't make a big deal out of it."
"Too bad," she shot back, still teasing but with warmth in her voice. "I'm making a big deal out of it. You saved my little sister, Ye Feng. You literally saved her life."
Ye Feng paused for a moment, the weight of her words sinking in. He had saved Bai Ling, yes, but it wasn't something he wanted praise for. Still, hearing Bai Shuang talk about it so casually, so earnestly, made him feel... something uncomfortable in his chest.
