Chapter 30: End of test

Chapter Thirty

Blow...

I felt a sudden loss of weight, and before I could even process what was happening—

Crack

"Argh..."

I crashed violently into a stone wall. I couldn't even tell if I was going to survive.

I heard the sound of my bones breaking in every part of my body.

[Danger: External interference detected]

[Host in danger. It is advised not to lose consciousness]

I couldn't read the words displayed by the system, but I felt it was preventing me from passing out.

Ah, my miserable luck...

Imagine an entire forest full of trees—and I end up hitting a stone wall.

Looks like the system was right.

When I tried to groan, I felt a sharp pain in my chest.

Seems a shard had pierced through my lung.

Pathetic state.

Shattered bones, torn flesh, damaged organs, a missing eye, broken teeth… I can't even begin to describe the sensation I feel in this moment.

I looked at the monster approaching me slowly.

And the smile that had once left its lips returned—stronger, and far more dangerous.

As if it had been born solely for this moment.

It ignored Sylvia and Mary who were running toward it, and continued its slow walk toward me.

Each step drained more of my mental strength.

I should've realized from the start—why was George even here?

Was it really a coincidence? It would be foolish to think so.

No, I believe it was the result of external interference.

Will I return to my body after dying here?

I doubt it.

It would be strange if there wasn't a malfunction in the consciousness transfer device.

Even in my worst moments, I never screamed or cried desperately. I analyzed the situation with calm.

Sylvia and Mary were rushing toward me, but I didn't believe they'd make it in time.

Mad George walked slowly toward me, ready to crush my head.

A broken body—I couldn't move anything except my head.

There was no guarantee I'd return to the academy if I died here.

Certain death.

"Heh heh..."

A cold laugh escaped my lips.

Seems I've changed a lot since I came to this world.

When I looked at the monster that kept getting closer and closer—

I couldn't help but laugh.

"I didn't want to show off in front of a monster, but..."

I raised my middle finger toward Mad George.

But due to my physical condition, it felt like millions of needles stabbed my hand.

I clenched my teeth and endured the pain.

"I've died once before. Do you think I'm afraid of you?"

I'd rather die with dignity than die begging and crying.

If you expect to see me weep, then you're sorely mistaken.

Mad George stood directly in front of me before raising his hand.

"Haah..."

When I looked at George standing there, all I could do was sigh.

I didn't feel fear or horror. What I felt in that moment… was rage.

Yes... rage. Imagine all your dreams and ambitions shattered by a C-rank creature.

Not even an S-rank—just C.

"I truly pity myself."

[Danger]

[Host must retreat]

[Danger]

[Consciousness transfer device disabled. You will truly die, Host]

The red pages kept increasing with every passing second.

"Shut up, damn you. Can't I have a moment's peace even as I'm about to die?"

The monster's hand came crashing down toward my head, and just as it was about to strike—

Blow...

George's hand hit the ground instead, shattering the stone into tiny pieces.

He had missed on purpose.

As if he wanted to give me a shred of hope, just to crush it completely.

Pathetic.

Do I really have to die?

No—why should I die?

"How much time is left?"

[Remaining time: 13 seconds]

I looked at the monster with the same calm eyes.

Even if I die... at least you'll die with me.

[12 seconds]

When George realized that scaring me was pointless, and with Sylvia and Mary rushing toward me, he decided to finish it.

[11 seconds]

Mad George raised his hand again, ready to split my head.

[Mad George]

[Type: Mutated Beast (C-Rank) – Enraged]

[Strength: 60 + 75]

[Intelligence: 20–25]

[Speed: 40–52]

[Mana: 40–15]

When I saw his stats, I couldn't help but shiver.

Did he sacrifice all his points for strength?

George's hand came crashing down like a sharp meteor.

Smash...

[5 seconds]

I dodged it by turning my neck to the side, but I couldn't move much due to my injuries, so it left a deep gash along my neck.

[2 seconds]

Blood kept gushing from my neck like a fountain.

[Host Health: 10%]

[1 second]

Just when I thought I was about to die, a sharp sound cut through the air—

[Test Complete]

[Time Limit: 00:00:00:00]

[All testers will be automatically transported]

A laugh slipped from my lips before my body vanished into the air.
