The Hero of Hypnosis

"Sir! Bad news!" A messenger barged into the office of Duke Ranger Calaback.

The Duke was a tall, muscular, serious, no-nonsense man. He hated incompetence and valued intelligence.

"Speak." His voice was deep and commanding. He didn't look up from what he was doing and continued to work. He was going through documents, writing, and signing papers.

"A message came in! The Cheston house has been destroyed! The entire estate has been burned, and all the valuables have been taken. But that's not all. The entire Cheston family has been killed!"

Ranger's hand stopped moving, his writing ceasing. The pen dropped from his palm, and he looked the servant straight in the eyes.

"What nonsense are you spouting? Do you know what will happen to you if you go around relaying false information like that?"

"S-Sir! I'm not lying. C-Call them! See for yourself!"

Ranger did just that. He grabbed his communication orb and called his distant relative. Magic in the orb pulsed, connecting to the orb in the Cheston house, but no one picked up.

He rang Brandon three more times, but each of them went to voicemail or whatever the equivalent is in this world.

"Impossible! How could their house fall, especially at a time like this? Was it a demon attack?" Anger started to rise inside Ranger.

The servant gulped. "W-We don't know, sir. All we were able to learn was that our contacts were killed, and when we went to find out why, the Cheston estate was on fire."

"Contact the royal guard. Something is going on, and we need to get to the bottom of this. The cheston house is one of the pillars of the kingdom, and if someone is crazy enough to go after them, then they might come after us as well. It's better to be one step ahead before anything happens."

"Yes, sir! I'll also inform the knights and guards to be on the lookout for anyone or anything suspicious!"

Ranger nodded. "Good. Now leave, I need to make some calls."

Sitting in a tree that was directly behind the window of Ranger's office, Kai smiled upon hearing their conversation.

He and his girls had already handled things long before the servant was able to get a message across to Ranger.

'Don't bother making your calls, all of your contacts are dead, and you're money is safely within my grasp. I'm sure you don't mind.' Kai laughed to himself and vanished from the spot.

Back at Kai's mansion, all of them were sprawled over the couch, talking amongst each other.

"So is everything handled?" Emerald asked

"Yup. The Calaback house will soon learn that they are in a severe financial crisis and that all of their contacts are gone. How are things with the documents?" Kai asked Kyana

"Everything was sent directly to the king, so matters should be handled soon."

"That's fucking great! Sometimes, you don't need to beat someone up to get revenge or feel satisfied. Simply watching the entire empire they built crumble down to the ground is just as sweet as taking someone's head."

BOOOOOM

Sasha nearly rolled off the couch after the explosion rocked the house. "The hell?"

"D-Did they find out it was us?"

"I'm ready to crack more skulls!"

"Calm down, you guys." Kai didn't move since he could sense the reason for the explosion. "It's just Gwen. She completed her transformation."

"Seriously?"

"Seriously." Kai nodded. "Here she comes."

Gwen walked up the stairs from the basement's training room. Her hair was unkempt, she was sweating profusely, and her clothes were mangled and destroyed.

Although she looked this way, Kai, no, everyone could feel that Gwen was different now. Her physical appearance didn't change, but her aura did. She exuded more confidence, more power, and had a natural energy that surrounded her body, one that any being on the food chain would recognize. It was the energy a predator gave off when staring at their prey.

"Guess things worked out well, huh?" Kai was lying on his back while talking to Gwen, so his head was dangling off the couch, and he was looking at her upside down.

"Worked out?" She asked. "Everything went fucking phenomenally! I did it, Kai! I'm a true dragonborn!" She threw her hands in the air and ran around like a child getting what they wished for on Christmas.

Amaya's ears perked up. "We weren't"

"You know, I expected that from you. Anyway, there's a place we need to be at soon, so let's get going. Oh, and this time, you girls can dress nicely." He remembered when they dressed up to take the entrance exam for the academy. He still thought they were weird for that.

"Where are we going?" Nadya asked

"Unfortunately, to Qasyran. Celeste is throwing me a party."
