Chapter 10: Daily Life at Ninja School
Seeing that everyone around him was looking at him, Deidara didn't mind; after all, he was speaking the truth, and they had no way to refute him. Kurotsuchi stood behind Deidara, a strange feeling bubbling up inside her. She said nothing but held onto Deidara's shirt, expressing her stance.
Giant Stone, however, could no longer sit idly by as the situation was about to escalate into a brawl. Although kids' fights won't amount to much, it was still uncomfortable for him to just watch.
"Alright, since no one is satisfied, how about we hold a competition during the next shuriken training class? Then we can settle it based on scores!"
Due to previous events, Giant Stone had earned some authority among the children, so they were willing to listen to him.
"Kid, just wait! Next time, I'll definitely score better than you!" "Yeah, we'll definitely beat you!"
Deidara felt amused as what was supposed to be a 1vN turned into a competition based on scores, akin to his previous life. Well, even though Deidara might not be able to defeat that many people, he could always run! If he couldn't beat them, he could at least outpace them!
During the subsequent body technique training, after Giant Stone provided an explanation, he allowed the bunch of kids to practice freely, choosing their opponents.
A large number of boys wanted to spar with Deidara, while a group of girls aimed to have a "chat" with Kurotsuchi.
Because Deidara attracted quite a bit of attention due to Kurotsuchi's previous performance and his own charming image, he inadvertently became the focus of admiration for a group of infatuated girls. Consequently, Kurotsuchi, being closely associated with Deidara, became the target of this group's attention.
Giant Stone first consulted Deidara for his opinion. After receiving a positive response, he said, "With Deidara's consent, he can spar with you all, but only five at a time."
"Then why don't you all take turns sparring? The five who win can then face off against me," Deidara interjected. Unconsciously, this raised his status significantly and made him appreciate the plan. Plus, it would make things easier for him, increasing his chances of winning considerably.
On Kurotsuchi's side, the girls followed suit. However, their attention was容易 swayed, and they soon gathered around to watch the boys' battles.
With the girls watching, the boys became even more excited, eager to showcase their best qualities. In this world, early maturity is quite normal.
In the end, the boys who emerged victorious were those few who caught Deidara's attention: Madzir, Shou, Daishi, and two others whose names he couldn't recall. Ichiban and Hikari didn't perform well in body techniques, so they didn't make it.
As for Akatsuchi, he didn't choose to spar with Deidara. This little chubby kid had a bit of discernment; he opted to match up with someone at his own level, and it turned out to be quite an intense match, drawing the attention of some of the girls.
"Go, Big Brother!" Kurotsuchi waved at Deidara, who smiled back at her. With his current body technique skills, he shouldn't mess up too badly! Otherwise, it would be an immense embarrassment.
"Go, Deidara!" "You can do it! Deidara, you'll definitely defeat them!" The girls cheered for the five who were enjoying their victories, and then it was Deidara's turn to step up.
The five dudes, looking green in the face, glared at Deidara, determined to take him down!
"Um, who's coming up first?" Deidara asked. "How about you guys have another round first? Whoever wins can come at me!"
"Hmph! Not a chance! You think we'll fall for your trick to wear us out? That way, your chances would be greater; so despicable!" "Yeah! We've already decided who's going first!"
The nearby girls, not catching Deidara's scheme, didn't call it despicable, instead saying, "Deidara is so clever! They're only realizing it now. So dumb!"
Kurotsuchi couldn't help but giggle, feeling that the boys were just so easy to tease.
Deidara looked at the first person standing up: it was his acquaintance Madzir. He decided to take this one seriously, after all, Madzir had some real skills.
"Ha!" Madzir threw a punch, charging at Deidara, who sidestepped, raised his fist, and aimed for Madzir's back. Madzir switched his punch into a sweeping strike towards Deidara's chest.
Deidara bent down to dodge and then wrapped his arms around Madzir's waist, tossing him back. Madzir placed his hands on the ground, attempting a scissor kick aimed at Deidara's back.
Madzir was confident he wouldn't mess up again, believing his timing was off before, but this time he absolutely wouldn't miss; he was convinced he'd win.
Just as Madzir was about to strike Deidara's lower back, Kurotsuchi couldn't help but yell a warning.
"Bang!" Madzir's feet crushed a piece of wood as he was suddenly kicked by Deidara, landing on the ground in a dog-eat-dog position.
"Damn it! You cheated! You used a substitution technique!" the others accused Deidara.
Deidara merely replied nonchalantly, "We're here to learn how to become ninjas, and not revealing your true strength in a fight is a disrespect to your opponent."
"Ahem, everyone quiet down," Giant Stone intervened. "Deidara is not wrong, but your accusations make sense too, so we'll call this round a tie. Also, Deidara, don't use ninja techniques anymore; we're in body technique training."
Afterward, Deidara avoided using ninja techniques but still won; the remaining four couldn't push him to use them.
Once the body technique training wrapped up, Giant Stone provided some brief guidance before announcing dismissal for the day.
After school, Deidara said goodbye to Kurotsuchi and rushed to the store to buy some instant food because being a ninja was quite costly, and he had to practice with shuriken as well. He couldn't afford to eat out every meal, or he'd run out of money.
After eating some food that smelled delicious but was just average in taste, Deidara picked up some clay and started making clay sculptures. This time, he made rougher sculptures but created several, including representations of Giant Stone, Kurotsuchi, Akatsuchi, Madzir, and others.
By the time he finished, it was getting late, so he washed up and then sat down on his bed to begin refining chakra.
Days passed, and Deidara slowly became stronger. Although to those experienced upper-ninjas, he still seemed like a kid who wasn't even a genin, he felt quite good about himself.
Onoki didn't leave him to his own devices; instead, he had Kurotsuchi give him a piece of chakra testing paper. After discovering he had earth chakra, they also provided him with a technique: Earth Release: Heart's Cut Technique.
This way, Deidara's battle style leaned more toward a sneaky approach. Punches, kicks, shuriken, and the like were just facades—he would seize on even the tiniest opening, pull his opponents underground, and end the fight.
