The Growth of a Titan in the Cultivation World

Chapter 172- The First Trial

Little Abdu stood up on Sol's head and spread out his Soul Energy. His eyes bore a serious look as he spoke.

"I actually can't sense them. Are you sure there are Formation Arrays here?"

"I'm sure Little Abdu."

Sol said, his eyes glowing with a dark ghostly aura. He then glanced at the black tiled ground surrounding the Main Palace. Immediately, numerous Formation Arrays appeared in his vision. Not just a single 'Formation,' but 'Formation Arrays,' which were Formations linked together to create a larger, more powerful Array. Many of them were carved into the ground, but some were embedded into the fabric of space itself and thus hovered above the ground.

Sol's gaze shifted upward to look at the Palace, and he was shocked.

"They even cover the entire Palace. Those intricate carvings on it aren't just for decorations."

"You can see them, Brother Sol?"

Mar-Dule asked in slight surprise before adding.

"I was only able to discover their existence because I faintly sensed danger the moment I was about to set foot in that area."

Upon hearing that, Sol was impressed by Mar-Dule's instincts. He was able to sense them because he recognized the usage of Su Moon's overlapping and linking of Formation Arrays here. But Mar-Dule's instincts allowed him to sense them at the same time he did. It was so accurate it was bordering on foresight.

"Everyone, don't resist."

Cheong-San suddenly said as he sent out his Divine sense. It made its way over to Sol and everyone before gathering between their brows.

Cheong-San then released his Innate Dharma and had it materialize behind him. It was a majestic, illusory eye that had a golden pupil.

When it appeared, the Divine Sense that was gathered between everyone's brows morphed into a vertical third eye on their foreheads, similar to Cheong-San's Innate Dharma.

Immediately, everyone was able to see the hidden Formation Arrays surrounding Immortal Dai Shen's Palace.

"Why are there so many of them?!"

Heon-Tae couldn't help but blurt out in shock.

Meanwhile, Sol observed this scene with a curious expression on his face.

Cheong-San's Innate Dharma had similar abilities to his Heavenly Eyes. He wondered how his own ability was, compared to Cheong-San's Innate Dharma.

'Well, his Innate Dharma is a Tier 7 Innate Dharma. I don't think my Heavenly Eyes could outdo it.'

Though immediately, as Sol thought this, Mar-Dule said next to him.

"You said there were Formation Arrays on the Palace, but I don't see them, Brother Sol."

"Me either."

"Neither do I."

Sol paused at that, and he saw Cheong-San look towards him. Then, smiling bitterly, he said through his Soul Energy.

"I apologize; Brother Sol's ability might be stronger than mine. My Innate Dharma is unable to pierce through the concealment of those Formation Arrays."

Sol scratched his cheek embarrassingly. He didn't mean to show off. He would have never thought his Heavenly Eyes were stronger than someone's Innate Dharma ability.

"Brat, I was wrong."

Little Abdu suddenly said as Cheong-San retrieved his Innate Dharma.

"Little Abdu, what do you mean?"

While looking at the Main Palace, Little Abdu replied.

"I said before that the Inheritances merely allow you to enter the Palace because they carry a residue of an Immortal. However, from the looks of it, they might actually be keys after all."

He then turned to look at Cheong-San, Cheong-Su, and Heon-Tae before asking.

"How did you retrieve the Inheritances from the other subsidiary Palaces?"

The three youths looked at each other before Cheong-San stepped forward and explained using his Divine Sense.

"Sen-I mean, Little Abdu sir, after I took the servants' Teleportation Array to the Beast Immortal's Palace, I was brought into a void where I was tested for the requirements to obtain the Inheritance."

"Just like that? You didn't face any dangers?"

Cheong-San shook his head, and Heon-Tae then chimed in.

"Little Abdu, sir, my situation was also similar, but it took a little longer for me to receive the Blade Immortal's Inheritance."

"It took a while for me to receive my Inheritance as well, but I faced no dangers."

Cheong-Su was the last to speak before Little Abdu turned to Byeong-Ho, who also confirmed that he faced no dangers.

"Little Abdu, what's wrong?"

Sol asked, looking up at Little Abdu on top of his head.

Coming out of his thoughts, Little Abdu said.

"I was always inside Su Moon's Palace, so I didn't know why the Immortals left and never came back. But as it turns out, before they left, they deemed it necessary to leave their Inheritances behind."

Little Abdu then looked down at Sol.

"You obtaining Su Moon's Inheritance was just a coincidence."

Sol understood.

It was no wonder the other Inheritances were so well thought out. Both he and Little Abdu were treating these 'Inheritances' not as Inheritances but as loot that could be taken from an abandoned house.

That was how Sol saw Su Moon's Inheritance when he obtained it.

Little Abdu continued to say.

"So it's safe to say we aren't here to loot another abandoned Palace. Immortal Dai Shen has likely set up trials for those seeking to obtain his Inheritance. This is likely the first of those trials."

"If that's the case, Little Abdu, sir, how do we get past these Formation Arrays?"

Mar-Dule asked.

"As I said previously, those Inheritances are actually keys, not some abandoned treasures. There was a reason why Immortal Dai Shen was so boastful and arrogant. It's because he was the strongest Immortal at the time. He was so profoundly strong that no one knew the depth of his strength. He was even able to raise his five disciples to the Immortal Realm with relative ease."

"Wait, so Su Moon and the other Immortals are disciples of Immortal Dai Shen?"

Yoon-Jae asked with a bit of surprise in his voice.

Little Abdu nodded before looking at Sol.

"Brat, since you've learned Su Moon's method of creating Formations, you've learned Immortal Dai Shen's method as well. You know how to get past these Formation Arrays for this first trial, right?"

"You do, Brother Sol?"

Mar-Dule asked as he and everyone turned to Sol.

Sol thought for a moment, then nodded slowly.

"I do, but it won't be easy since these Formation Arrays are beyond my comprehension."

"What type of Formation Arrays are they?"

"It mostly consists of Spatial Distortion Formations, and… probably some Gravity Formations. These Formations have concepts only powerful cultivators could understand."

Mar-Dule was the one to answer, and Sol nodded before saying.

"That's right, so if I were to make a mistake and activate one of them, it might cause a chain reaction and set them all off. At that point, we would be instantly killed if we lingered near this three-hundred-meter area surrounding the Palace."

Little Abdu tapped Sol on his forehead with his paw before he said.

"Brat, as long as you have me here, you can relax while disabling these Formation Arrays."

Sol smiled and patted Little Abdu's head. He then turned to everyone and explained.

"Think of these Formation Arrays as an uncombined head of hair. I would need to start from the ending strands of the Arrays to get to their core roots and disable them."

"Are you going to use the Lock and Key method?"

Mar-Dule asked, and Sol nodded in response.

The Lock and Key method was the same method used on the iron rod's Teleportation Array. A piece of its integral component was taken out, so it couldn't work.

Despite the complexity and power of these runes, they were created using Su Moon's overlapping and linking method, so Sol could use that knowledge to remove essential parts of these Formation Arrays one by one so they couldn't work.

But there was a problem. It was a tall task for just him.

Sol thought for a moment, then flipped over his hand and passed a book to Mar-Dule.

"Hm? What's this for?"

"It's a manual conta-"

"Ah!"

Before Sol could finish, Mar-Dule looked at the cover of the book and cried out in shock.
