The Growth of a Titan in the Cultivation World

Chapter 159- At Nightfall

The City Lord was about to turn and run off thinking that he was caught; however, he suddenly heard Dae Han's tired voice say.

"Who are you? Father!"

The City Lord paused and peeped around Elder Hyun-Joo into the room.

He saw Dae Han sitting in the middle of the room, and it seemed like he was awoken from a deep session of cultivating. The runes on the walls and ground were all gone without a trace in sight.

The City Lord was quick to catch on, and he hurriedly said.

"Son, be respectful, this is Elder Hyun-Joo from the Academy."

Dae Han showed a surprised expression before he weakly stood up and said with cupped fists.

"My apologies Elder Hyun-Joo, I was not able to recognize your identity."

Elder Hyun-Joo glanced at Dae Han and seeing the dark circles under her eyes, she frowned before saying.

"A young man should know when to cultivate and when not to."

After that, she turned to leave, not addressing Dae Han's apology.

She seemed like the type of person who does things at her own pace.

After Elder Hyun-Joo left, the City Lord forced a smile and said.

"You heard Elder Hyun-Joo son, take some time off from cultivating and rest."

"Yes, father."

Dae Han said, returning the smile.

The City Lord nodded, then closed the door.

After the door was closed, the smile fell from Dae Han's face before he then dropped to his knees in a rather dramatic fashion.

"Damn it…"

Dae Han cursed under his breath as he looked at the bare walls and ground.

His two weeks of carving runes… his two weeks of non-stop carving… were completely and utterly wasted!

Dan Han really didn't know whether to laugh or cry in this situation.

But at least he made the right call not to trust that fool of a City Lord to stop Elder Hyun-Joo from entering the room. He would have died if he got rid of the runes for nothing.

However, unbeknownst to Dae Han and the City Lord, Elder Hyun-Joo had paused during her flight back to the Multidimensional Teleportation Array leading to the Inner Region.

She recalled the City Lord saying Dae Han was going through a breakthrough, however, she didn't sense the aura of a breakthrough around Dae Han when she saw him in that room.

However, she didn't bother following up with that inconsistency as she thought it was a waste of time. She had to instead focus on solving the matter with the Mortals' displacement.

….

..

In the ruined pavilion, Sol, Yoon-Jae, and Ji-Hoon were sitting around waiting.

That was the only thing they could do until Ji-Hoon's partners got the two remaining Immortal Inheriances.

"Remind me how long they say they were going to take to get these Inheritance keys?"

Yoon-Jae asked as he lay face down on the grass.

"Brother Yoon-Jae, don't worry they will succeed, we just have to wait."

Yoon-Jae raised his head and looked at Ji-Hoon before responding.

"But it's already been two weeks, are you sure they weren't caught?"

Ji-Hoon shook his head and responded again.

"Aside from youngest brother, who was supposed to get the Sword Immortal's Inheritance, the others have been updating their progress."

"Have you received any news from this person yet?"

Sol asked, and Ji-Hoon shook his head.

"Since the last message he sent was that he obtained the Sword Immortal's Inheritance, I suppose he already made his way to the Inner Court. He's too impatient."

Ji-Hoon lowered his head, and a worried expression appeared on his face.

Sol went to comfort him, but Yoon-Jae suddenly said.

"Who is he? He sounds unhinged to rush to his death."

Sol shot a disapproving look at Yoon-Jae.

Ji-Hoon responded.

"I don't know, none of us know each other's true identities. We've only ever interacted through communication jade slips."

"Is he the one who obtained the map of the dimension?"

Ji-Hoon nodded, and Sol smiled.

"If that's the case then he might still be alive. Maybe his communication jade slip just doesn't work in the Inner Court."

After Sol said that Ji-Hoon nodded, but he suddenly perked up.

He flipped over his palm and took out a purple jade slip.

"What? Did they get it?"

Yoon-Jae asked as he got up.

Ji-Hoon silently read the messages in the jade slip before he opened his eyes to show a twinkle of excitement in them.

"Third Brother and Fifth Brother got the keys, but Fifth Brother said he found the Teleportation Array to the Main Palace in the Inner Court and it's working. As for Fourth Brother, he said he's with the Beast Taming Pavilion, but he'll be able to go to the Music Pavilion where Fifth Brother is and take the Teleportation Array with him."

The Beast Taming Pavilion was well known to be on amicable terms with the Music Pavilion.

"That's great!"

Sol leaped up from where he was sitting.

"Then we'll just have to get that Third Brother of yours and we'll be able to leave."

Yoon-Jae said as he came over to Ji-Hoon.

"Where is he?"

Sol asked as he came over as well.

Ji-Hoon looked up from his communication jade slip and said.

"Third Brother has the Blade Immortal's Inheritance. It's located in a ruined pavilion between the Peng Clan and the Divine Beast Innate Dharma Pavilion's camp."

"Alright, I think I can find where that is."

Sol said as he turned around ready to leave. However, Yoon-Jae stopped him.

"Wait Sol, it's better if you went at nightfall."

Sol paused and then asked.

"But wouldn't I look more suspicious if I was caught lurking around other groups' camps in the middle of the night?"

Yoon-Jae countered with.

"Yeah, but there will be fewer people out searching for suspicious people."

Sol contemplated for a moment then nodded. He'll go at nightfall which was only a few hours away.

"In the meantime, we can finish looking through these piles of storage."

As it turns out, even after two weeks they haven't gone through all the storage rings Little Abdu had.

It seemed he had collected hundreds if not thousands over the years. However, it might not be as worthwhile as it sounds.

Most of these storage rings have their runes damaged over time. As for the somewhat intact, they were filled with destroyed items.

Even now, they couldn't find a single Spirit Treasure or medicinal pill worth using.

The pill boxes they had to open were especially fear-inducing.

But the thought that there could be some good items inside one of these storage rings made them brave through opening more of those pill boxes.

Ji-Hoon and Yoon-Jae sighed before they agreed to go through the storage rings.

However, Yoon-Jae suddenly stopped and asked.

"Wait, wasn't the Divine Beast Innate Dharma Pavilion's territory obtained by the Runes and Formation Pavilion back at the Plum Blossom Gathering?"

Sol turned to look at Yoon-Jae in surprise, who in turned to looked back at him. Both had one name come to mind...

Mar-Dule.

Should they include him in this mission?
