The Growth of a Titan in the Cultivation World

Chapter 149- Holy Son

Sol looked at Yoon-Jae who waved dismissively.

"Just come back when you're done."

Yoon-Jae then fell face-first on the ground in a corner. It was obvious he was still exhausted.

Sol turned to Ji-Hoon and said.

"Lead the way."

Ji-Hoon nodded before he left the courtyard and went through a few corridors to reach the back of the ruined pavilion where not many people were.

"Brother Ji-Hoon, what would be so important that prompted you to come to this secluded place?"

Sol asked with his head tilted, which annoyed Little Abdu who was still atop his head napping.

"I apologize, Brother Sol."

Ji-Hoon stopped before he turned to face Sol.

He then said.

"Brother Sol, I hope you will hear me out."

Sol nodded before he calmly waited for Ji-Hoon to explain himself.

Ji-Hoon stared at Sol and then at the runes on the back of his hand. He seemed to have made up his mind on something as he said.

"Brother Sol, in truth, I am a part of the Demonic Cult. I came here to—Ughk!"

Ji-Hoon was unable to finish as Sol's hand suddenly shot out and grabbed his neck. A loud bang then echoed out as he was slammed into the walls of the ruined pavilion.

A large portion of the ruined pavilion wall cracked behind his back as it shook uncontrollably.

Suddenly the two runes on Sol's hands glowed and the Heavenly Samsara Formation unnoticeably spread out and covered several meters around them.

Even though the Heavenly Samsara Formation was nearly undetectable, someone outside of it would see Sol and Ji-Hoon's figures suddenly disappear.

Inside the Formation, Sol squeezed Ji-Hoon's neck.

"Are you telling the truth?"

Ji-Hoon instinctively wanted to resist, but he realized the minute this Formation surrounded them, his cultivation base was slowly being restricted.

Even though he was a third year and was close to entering the Spiritual Realm, with Sol's hand firmly gripped around his neck he could easily kill him in an instant.

This type of person was extremely frightening. Ji-Hoon had always been on guard, but Sol's timing was just too scary.

Ji-Hoon met Sol's gaze, and he saw a cold, almost murderous look in them. When he saw this, he knew that his next words could determine whether he live or die.

Ji-Hoon began to panic internally. Sol now felt like a completely different person; someone Ji-Hoon would never approach to tell his identity.

But before this sudden change, Ji-Hoon had felt like he could trust Sol and he would hear him out.

Had he judged Sol wrongly?

Sol's eyes weren't the ones of someone who would shy away from killing a person like him.

Even Little Abdu now had his eyes open and was staring at Sol with a strange expression.

Like a switch, he saw Sol go from a calm and almost innocent kid to a cold and callous murderer. It was jarring, and somewhat uncomfortable to witness. It was like an innocent puppy suddenly turned hostile to everyone who passed by because it had been hit for no reason far too many times.

"B-Brother Sol, please let me explain. Whatever you… you think I did, I didn't do it."

Ji-Hoon struggled to speak due to Sol's tight grip on his neck.

However, Sol suddenly released him. But it wasn't because of Ji-Hoon's words, it was because the suppression of his cultivation reached a point where it would be easy for Sol to overpower him if he tried something.

Ji-Hoon was starting to get terrified of Sol, his actions were too calculating.

"Were you the one who killed that disciple from the Wudang Sect?"

Ji-Hoon nodded but quickly explained.

"But I did it because he was a spy from the Wudang Sect, and he was reporting back that you found that teleportation array."

Sol went silent upon hearing that, then soon said.

"If Yun-Hoon had found out earlier he might have acted when we weren't here."

Ji-Hoon nodded.

"I did it to help you."

Sol frowned at that.

"What about the female disciple that went missing?"

"Ah… She's—She's fine. I didn't harm her I just held her captive because she knew my identity."

Sol's eyes narrowed in suspicion. Ji-Hoon seemed to be telling the truth, but he wasn't saying something.

To change the topic, Ji-Hoon said.

"Brother Sol, the reason why I risk telling you my identity is that we need your help."

"What?"

Sol's brows creased, and Ji-Hoon further explained as he pointed at the tattoos of the runes on Sol's hands.

"You gained the Rune Deity, Su Moon's Legacy Rune, right? You have one of the keys that can open this Dimension's Inheritance. Please, Brother Sol, I was supposed to obtain it but after you discovered it I couldn't just take it from you."

Ji-Hoon bowed at a ninety-degree angle.

Still frowning, Sol asked Little Abdu.

"Little Abdu, is there really an Inheritance that requires this rune to obtain it?"

"Yeah, it's in Immortal Shen's Palace."

"When were you going to tell me?"

"I didn't bother telling you because you would have to obtain the other Legacy items from the other Palaces. And you didn't meet the requirements for them like Su Moon's Legacy Rune."

When Ji-Hoon heard Little Abdu speak, he lifted his head and looked at him in shock.

One was because he could speak human language, and the second was because it seemed like he knew a lot about this Dimension. It took them nearly four years of piecing together all the information their Elders had collected in the past to barely grasp the requirements needed to obtain these Inheritances, and even then, they didn't fully understand some things.

Sol looked at Ji-Hoon and asked.

"Why should I help you people? You rob others of their Innate Dharmas and now you want to rob the Inheritance of this dimension?'

Ji-Hoon's expression changed when he heard that.

"Brother Sol, don't believe those claims that we are stealing Innate Dharmas. It wasn't us."

Sol was immediately confused.

"It's not the Demonic Cult?"

"No Brother Sol, why would we do something so unforgivable?"

"Then if it wasn't the Demonic Cult, who was it?"

Ji-Hoon shook his head.

"We don't know, these are people using our identities to carry out such things because it's easier to blame us. But after our Sect was destroyed and our Elders were killed, we have been in hiding. If it wasn't for our Sect Leader, we would have been wiped out already."

"Your Sect Leader? Who is that, and how many of you are there left?"

Ji-Hoon smiled.

"From Brother Sol's tone, it seems you have your suspicions of who the Sect Leader is. As for how many of us are there, I don't know. We chose to scatter across Jianghu so that if one of us were to ever be found then the others would be safe. But most of our Elders are dead and the few that went into seclusion to heal their injuries have lost contact with us. Only the disciples remain to fend for themselves, and after a few years, those disciples have children. I'm not an original member of the Demonic Cult my father was, but I still consider myself a part of the Demonic Cult."

Sol went silent and didn't respond, but the hostility he had towards Ji-Hoon faded. He was back to his normal self.

'I was wrong, and another group is posing as the Demonic Cult?'

Sol thought to himself, but his thoughts were interrupted by Ji-Hoon.

"Brother Sol, no, Holy Son. I request that you help us. If we were to obtain this dimension's Inheritance, we could rebuild our strength and take revenge on the Six Holy Sects and Five Great Clans."

Ji-Hoon bowed towards Sol once again.

However, Sol didn't give an answer on whether he would help, rather he looked at Ji-Hoon and asked puzzledly.

"What did you just call me?"

"Brother Sol, all the disciples of the Sect Leader are given the position of a Supreme Elder. Three years ago, all of us got a secret message from our Sect Leader that said you were his new disciple. So, you're our first Holy Son in several generations, a position only second to the Sect Leader himself. We weren't supposed to approach you in fear of your identity being revealed, but I had no other choice in this situation."

When Sol heard this, a strange expression appeared on his face.

'Master you old fart! Why the heck did you not tell me something like this? Don't tell me this is one of those contingency plans you claim you put in place if my identity of being your disciple was ever found out?'

Sol was tempted to contact his Master using the jade slip and berate him for his incompetence. After all, it wasn't like he could punish him through the jade slip.
