Chapter 135- I’ll Definitely Pet You
"Little Abdu, are these really the only books about Holy Crest in the Library?"
Sol finished reading the pile of books around him and looked up at Abdu who was casually lying on the ground some distance away.
"You can go check for yourself."
Sol frowned as he looked around the library.
The number of books here was in the hundreds of thousands. It would be too difficult and time-consuming for him to go through all of them.
Sol was currently in the library reading as well as collecting the books he found interesting.
His current focus was on books containing information about Holy Crests, but after reading these dozen or so dusty old books, he was disappointed.
"Why is there so little information on Holy Crests? Were they not a big deal back then?"
"They were, but the power of a God was looked down upon. Those who cultivate Aether Energy strive to become an Immortal Deity and challenge the heavens, as well as the Gods' power and authority."
"What happened to those marked by a Holy Crest?"
Little Abdu paused before saying.
"They were hunted down and crucified. We did not acknowledge the power of Gods so why would we try and learn it? You are lucky to even find those books in here. After Su Jin gained a Holy Crest Su Moon searched everywhere for information about them."
Sol sighed before he flopped down on the ground, which kicked up a lot of dust.
The library was pretty unkempt.
"Little Abdu, let me rub you."
"No."
"Why not? Just once, let me pet you, like for a little bit."
"No."
"…"
After a period of silence, Sol suddenly sprung up from his position and vanished with a step.
He reappeared next to Little Abdu and grabbed at him with a fervent expression. However, Sol grabbed nothing but air as Little Abdu easily dodge his advance.
Sol was right behind him as he used his Heavenly Steps to chase Little Abdu around the large library.
"Little Abdu, you're being unfair! Little Zeel lets me pet him."
"I don't know who that is. Just give up brat, I don't like my fur being touched. You'll mess it up."
Little Abdu appeared on top of a bookshelf and casually licked his paw before rubbing the back of his ears.
Sol's figure appeared below the bookshelf, and he looked at Little Abdu with an agitated expression.
"Why are you so fast?"
Sol was confident in his Heavenly Steps and coupled with the fact that he started opening the acupoints in his legs, which increased his speed, he was exceedingly faster than most disciples when he fought in the Martial Hall Pagoda.
But Little Abdu's casual ease at how he was dodging his advances left him quite shocked.
"I'm barely moving, you're the one who's too slow."
"Are you using a Movement Skill? Why don't you teach it to me?"
Sol's eyes suddenly brighten, but Little Abdu's next words caused him to almost fall over.
"What's a Movement Skill?"
"Wah-You don't know what a Movement Skill is?"
Sol looked at Little Abdu with surprise.
"Brat, do you know how long I've been here? Is it the way you move your legs?"
"That's part of it, but it also involves the circulation of Aether Energy in my legs."
"You circulate Aether Energy in your legs to boost your speed? Interesting…"
After Little Abdu said that Sol watched with his jaw on the floor as he vanished from atop the bookshelf.
"That—That's my Heavenly Steps! You copied me?"
Sol spun around to look at Little Abdu who appeared on one of the many tables in the library.
"I did. Was it supposed to be hard?"
Sol stood there gobsmacked for a brief moment before saying with a bitter smile.
"I thought Martial Skills were harder for Spirit Beasts to learn because of the difference in their bodies from us humans. It was also said that you were all born with all of your meridians and acupoints closed, and the only way to open them was by training their bodies extensively. More so than us humans."
Sol also thought internally that Spirit Beasts were this world's greatest Fleshly Bodies cultivators. Even the Barbarian Race has created most of their Runic Physique cultivation methods from observing the Spirit Beasts in the Eternal Desert.
"Well, I don't know about those things called Spirit Beasts, but if you're they're like those lowly beings called Deamons, then I'm far from being one as I was born with all of my meridians and acupoints opened."
Sol almost gasped upon hearing that.
"Is that possible? Can I see?"
Sol hurried over with his arms outstretched, but Little Abdu suddenly leaped out of his reach.
"Nice try, but that won't work."
"Ah! Little Abdu, you're really being too stingy!"
Sol yelled after having his thoughts figured out. He then resumed chasing Little Abdu around the library once more.
However, at some point in the chase, he got fed up and gave up.
Little Abdu was faster than him before he learned his Heavenly Steps, but now with it, he was exponentially faster. No, it seemed as if the more time passed, he was getting more used to the Martial Skill and was thus getting faster and faster!
Maybe for an existence like Little Abdu a Martial Skill of this level wasn't anything special, but for Sol, it was something extremely valuable.
"What was the name of this thing that is called a Martial Skill? Was it Heavenly Steps? How fitting. My injuries prevent me from using one-tenth of my strength, but with this thing, I'm able to increase my speed somewhat. I should thank you, brat."
Sol stopped in the middle of the library and gritted his teeth.
"If you're so thankful, why don't you let me pet you?"
"Brat, do you think everything in life comes free? If you want something you should work for it!"
"Okay!"
Sol yelled before he suddenly started doing squats with a serious look on his face. He also did a few waists stretches with his arms high up.
Little Abdu paused, then observed Sol's actions with a bit of amusement in his eyes.
Sol soon stopped stretching and stared at Abdu with determination in his eyes.
"I'll definitely pet you."
"Come get me brat."
Sol grinned before a loud bang echoed out. The anklet on his right foot fell to the ground as he took a step forward.
His speed almost doubled, and he appeared in front of Little Abdu, who was seated on a table. His arms were outstretched to block all of Little Abdu's avenues of escape.
"You weren't fast enough before you took off that anklet and you're not fast enough after taking it off."
Sol's hands went right through Little Abdu's afterimage which was staring at him with a smirking expression.
"Perhaps you should go back to reading those books, you won't even be able to get within a two-meter radius of me no matter how hard you tried."
Little Abdu was on another table, and he licked his fur casually after saying this.
He was pretty confident, however, Sol's now golden eyes flickered as he spun around to look at him.
Little Abdu only heard another loud bang echo out before Sol's hand was merely inches away from him.
"???!!!"
Little Abdu was shocked, and his figure blurred to escape Sol's grasp. He did manage to escape in time by increasing his speed up a notch, but Sol's fingertips managed to graze his fur.
Little Abdu appeared on the ground some distance away before he turned to look at Sol still slightly shocked.
Sol was currently laughing excitedly at the fact that his fingers had grazed little Abdu's fur.
It wasn't much, but Sol felt a lot better. But without delay, he reached out with his hand to call back his two anklets.
The first one clamped back onto this right leg, and his golden hair and eyes lost a bit of luster. The tattoo of the golden sun and black crescent moon also faded a bit.
The last anklet was about to clamp back onto Sol's left leg, but Little Abdu suddenly called out.
"Wait!"
He then appeared on the table in front of Sol.
"What are those?"
Little Abdu said as he looked at the anklet hovering next to Sol.
"They're family heirlooms."
"No, they're terrifying treasures that have the power to seal my Innate Ability. The restriction runes on them are even greater than those on the Heavens Canopy Grand Formation Array. If I didn't have this cat form, I would have never been able to escape the one you trapped me in."
"Ah, that too."
Little Abdu looked away from the anklet to observe Sol's appearance, golden hair and eyes. Soon his gaze drifted towards the sun and crescent moon faintly visible on Sol's forehead.
"How long has it been since you were marked?"
"You mean this…"
Sol touched his forehead.
"…I think I always had it."
He recalled the memories of that little boy. If that was him, then his words might be true.
When Little Abdu heard that, he became visibly terrified, and he unconsciously took a step back from Sol.
