Chapter 31: Sneaking Around in My House, Right? (2 chapters totaling 9k)_2
The flying arrows and spears were easily deflected;
The spells cast by the spellcasters struck the armor only to be immediately extinguished by the stacking protective techniques on it.
As for the heavy stone blocks and rolling logs, a few Giants had just lifted them when they were pierced by whistling spears, pinning them against the walls. Not only did they fail to throw much, but they also crushed many allies when they fell onto the walls.
Even more terrifying for the alien race was that those ironclad figures were glowing, like stars rising gradually from the ground.
In the next moment, over a thousand Purification Knights, their bodies shining with layers of magic light patterns like a silver angry tide, accelerated toward the granite walls.
Boom~!
Instantly, the ground shook and the mountains quaked. Under the horrified and desperate gazes of the alien race on the city head, the thick rock walls shattered at weak points like the city gate, collapsing entirely.
In the swirling dust, the exposed, empty inner area of the citadel lay bare.
Those Purification Knights who crashed into the granite walls merely shook their heads, their armor dimmed a bit, with very few casualties.
Moments later, the Purification Knights brushed off the debris that had fallen on them, stood up shakingly from the gravel, discarded their broken hardwood lances, and equipped themselves with more flexible longswords and war axes, striding into the city.
Thousands of Picts, clad in animal skins, wielding wooden shields and various weapons, had just gathered at the shattered city gate, only to be picked apart by the charging Purification Knights.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
With the jarring sound of bones cracking, one by one, the alien race spat blood, tumbling down from the sky like sacks of meat, only to be stomped into mush by the rushing cavalry.
Finish them off!
Elves, Giants, and the remaining barbarians surged out from all directions, madly attacking these Purification Knights.
However, whether sharp blades, magic, fists, or blunt weapons, none found it easy to break through the defenses of these ironclad figures and slay the blessed Purification Knights within.
Gradually, the fear of death overwhelmed the alien race's instinctual desire for slaughter.
This almost insurmountable gap caused the alien race to collapse, fleeing in panic.
Yet, this did nothing to shake the knights' resolute will.
The sharp longswords were raised and swung mercilessly down!
Raised again, swung down!
Over a thousand Purification Knights, moving like relentless land tanks, efficiently and rhythmically harvested the lives of the alien race, watering the land they once ravaged with the blood of the monsters corrupted by calamity.
"Roar...!"
Just as the Purification Knights were about to completely seize the citadel, a muffled roar from the north resounded, a biting storm swept in.
Under the enveloping clouds, black spots were rapidly approaching, gradually enlarging.
Wait... What's that?!
Several keen-eyed Purification Knights immediately halted their actions, pupils constricting sharply.
But before anyone could react, behemoth figures with scales as iron armors and claws like long spears swooped down from the sky.
Boom boom boom boom!
Instantly, as the distance closed, these creatures either grabbed the knights on horseback, flinging them from great heights, shattering their organs, or opened their jaws, madly gathering magic power, spewing fierce flame bombs in all directions.
Within moments, the streets flooded by the Purification Knights turned into seas of fire, silhouettes twisting and screaming amidst the blaze, emitting waves of the stench of roasted flesh.
Dragonkin! It's Dragonkin!
As the Purification Knights came to their senses, they urgently controlled their frenzied, grieving warhorses, looked at the terrifying figures circling above, and their minds mirrored the answer.
Seeing their reinforcements arrive, the alien race who had been retreating in defeat experienced a surge in morale, reignited their ferocity, and intended to encircle and reverse the push of the Purification Knights who had invaded the city with these powerful fantasy creatures.
But just as the circling Dragonkin once again plunged downward, a humming like stone bells emanated from the shattered city gate.
At the same time, a light wheel resembling a clock face, engraved with Celtic numbers, manifested upon the earth.
"Sinners, repent here, the noon sunlight shall shine upon me, to cleanse your sins."
A solemn, deep chant echoed around, and Gao Wen, the Sun Knight, garbed in silver armor, riding a white elven horse, wielding the Holy Sword Cavendish appeared on the battlefield.
A blazing golden radiance burst forth from the sword's edge, shooting into the clouds, tearing through the storm of shadows, revealing the sun's golden brilliance.
The alien race and Dragonkin sensed danger, instinctively abandoning their original foes, charging toward the figure at the city gate, attempting to stop him from swinging the Holy Sword.
But it was too late.
Boom!
Gao Wen swung his arm, and the escalating might of the Holy Sword Cavendish condensed into scorching sharpness, sweeping across mid-air.
Where it passed, golden flames soared to the sky.
Dragonkin and alien race unable to resist the heat were burned to ashes, the battlefield instantly cleared.
However, in a moment, the scorching flames that scorched the sky were swallowed by the sudden darkness from the north.
"Roar!"
Within the beastly roar carrying dragon might, an enormous shadow descended upon the ground.
Dragon!
A pale dragon wrapped in black mist, bringing death!
"Roar!"
Dragon claws smashed down, causing the citadel to collapse.
The dragon head appeared, the surrounding black mist engulfed the soldiers' weapons, corpses, and the citadel's broken debris, transforming everything into basic spirit particles, feeding into the black hole that devoured light.
