The Greatest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Tensura

Chapter 114: A Brewing Threat

The morning had started peacefully. My lovers and I were seated at a private dining area in one of Tempest's finest establishments, enjoying a delightful breakfast. The air carried the rich aroma of freshly brewed tea and warm pastries. Velzard, with her usual grace, sipped her tea elegantly, her icy-blue eyes glowing with quiet amusement. Testarossa and Carrera, meanwhile, were engaged in a playful debate over who had the superior dish, while Ultima hummed happily, occasionally stealing bites from my plate with a mischievous grin.

Just as I was about to take another bite, a sudden explosion of noise disrupted the peaceful atmosphere. A deep, resounding thud echoed through the town, followed by startled gasps and hurried murmurs.

I expanded my senses, quickly locking onto the scene of the disturbance. My gaze flickered with amusement as I saw Milim standing triumphantly over a beaten Phobio, who lay sprawled across the ground. I could also see Rigurd nearby, looking shaken but unharmed.

I smirked. "Well, well. It seems Milim just taught someone a lesson."

Testarossa, always quick to pick up on my tone, raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Who's the unlucky victim?"

Carrera lazily turned her attention outside before breaking into a grin. "Ah. Phobio. One of Carrion's subordinates."

Ultima, ever the playful one, giggled as she propped her chin on her hands. "Ooh, what did he do to piss off Milim?"

I focused again, picking up the details. "It looks like he tried to attack Rigurd."

Velzard's serene demeanor remained unchanged, but there was an edge to her voice. "Attacking a leader of Tempest? Foolish."

Curious to see how Rimuru would handle the situation, we teleported closer, shrouding ourselves in an unseen state. Even Milim's keen senses wouldn't detect us.

The town square was buzzing with activity. Villagers had gathered, whispering among themselves, their eyes flickering between Milim and the battered Phobio. Rigurd was still catching his breath, his usual composed demeanor slightly shaken.

Standing in the center, Milim stood with her arms crossed, looking proud and smug. "Hah! That's what you get for attacking old Rigurd! Mess with my friends, and you get wrecked!"

Phobio, struggling to his feet, gritted his teeth in frustration. "Damn it! That was uncalled for!"

Milim huffed, placing her fists on her hips. "Uncalled for?! You were the one who tried to hit Rigurd first! You're lucky I only punched you!"

Phobio clenched his fists, his pride clearly bruised. "I wasn't going to hurt him! I just—"

"Enough."

A calm yet firm voice cut through the tension.

Rimuru had arrived.

His expression was a mix of exasperation and concern as he quickly assessed the situation. His gaze first landed on Rigurd, ensuring he was unharmed, before shifting to Milim and Phobio.

"Milim… did you really have to punch him?"

Milim puffed out her cheeks, looking almost offended. "Of course! He was being a jerk!"

Phobio, seizing the moment, straightened up and pointed at Milim. "Lord Rimuru! She's the one who attacked me! I demand justice!"

Milim's sharp glare nearly made him flinch. "Hah?! You're the one who tried to attack Rigurd! Don't act like the victim now!"

Rimuru sighed, rubbing his temples. "Phobio, is this true?"

Phobio hesitated, then reluctantly lowered his gaze. "…I was just frustrated. I didn't actually mean to hurt him."

Rimuru exhaled slowly before turning to Milim. "Look, I appreciate you standing up for Rigurd, but we can't go around punching people in the middle of town."

Milim pouted, crossing her arms. "Tch. You're no fun."

Watching from the shadows, I chuckled. Milim truly was a force of nature.

Testarossa smirked. "Rimuru's struggling to keep her under control. Quite entertaining."

Carrera stretched lazily, amused. "Should we interfere?"

I shook my head. "No. Let's see how Rimuru handles this."

Ultima giggled beside me. "This is turning into quite the show."

As we silently observed, I couldn't help but admire Rimuru's composure. He was still new to dealing with powerhouses like Milim, but if he could handle her without things escalating, it would prove just how capable he really was.

With the commotion settled, my lovers and I returned to our breakfast, leaving Rimuru and his people to handle their affairs. The meal had gone slightly cold, but that didn't seem to bother Testarossa, who gracefully sipped her tea, nor Carrera, who was happily devouring the last of her food without a care in the world. Ultima, on the other hand, was sneaking bites from my plate, flashing me a mischievous grin every time I caught her.

Velzard, as elegant as always, simply smirked knowingly, enjoying the lighthearted atmosphere.

However, just as I was about to take another bite, a ripple of magic resonated in my mind—a direct message from Diablo.

His smooth, almost playful voice echoed within my thoughts. "Lord Arion, it seems we have some… familiar troublemakers in the Jura Forest. My spies have spotted Footman and Tear lurking about."

I paused mid-bite, my eyes narrowing slightly.

The Harlequin Circus.

They never seemed to learn, always scheming in the shadows, playing their twisted little games.

"Did they engage in any hostilities?" I asked mentally.

Diablo's tone remained calm yet laced with amusement. "Not yet, my lord. But their presence alone suggests they might be plotting something. What are your orders?"

I set down my cup, my fingers tapping lightly against the table as I considered.

"Tell the spies to keep watch but not to engage. I want to know exactly what they're up to before we act. The Harlequins enjoy their little tricks, but I won't tolerate them interfering with our affairs."

Diablo chuckled. "As expected. I will relay your orders. I shall await further instruction."

With that, the message ended.

I exhaled, leaning back in my chair as my lovers took notice of my shift in demeanor.

Ultima, resting her chin in her hands, tilted her head curiously. "What is it? You look like you're about to murder someone."

Carrera grinned. "Ooh, is there a fight coming? Please tell me there's a fight."

Testarossa sighed, giving Carrera a disapproving glance before turning to me. "Something troublesome, I assume?"

Velzard, who had already sensed the shift in my mood, took a slow sip of her tea before speaking in a composed tone. "More fools making a move?"

I nodded. "Footman and Tear have been spotted in the Jura Forest. They might be up to something."

Velzard's expression remained calm but calculating. "So they still linger in the shadows… interesting."

Carrera licked her lips in excitement. "You sure I can't just go and blast them? I won't kill them. Maybe."

I smirked, shaking my head. "No. For now, we watch. If they make a move, then we'll act."

Ultima giggled. "That means we still get to enjoy our vacation."

Testarossa sighed, relaxing. "Good. I was just getting used to the comforts of Tempest."

I leaned back, a small smile forming. For now, we would wait. But if the Harlequins thought they could scheme without consequence, they were gravely mistaken.
