Chapter 452: The Real Undead Leader.
Alec was thrown back upon clashing with Dullahan, as he realized he was no match for the Mid Tier 4 undead in terms of strength.
Nonetheless, he refused to back down and was determined to hold on until he received help, knowing it would take a while for him to tire out.
As the horse charged at him once again, Dullahan swung his axe, Alec knew he couldn't defend against such a powerful attack, so he opted to dash towards Dullahan instead.
With the axe nearing his head, Alec bent down and positioned his Changdao on his shoulders, as the axe descended, it collided with the blade, as Alec utilized the momentum from his run to redirect the force of the attack upwards, In response, he quickly swung his own weapon.
A fiery crescent moon slash was unleashed, causing the Dullahan's horse to lose its two hind legs, the beast tumbled, throwing Dullahan off its back.
However, instead of focusing on landing safely, Dullahan prioritized protecting his heads, as he made sure he held it high , clutching on tightly to prevent any harm to its head.
Recognizing such an opportunity, Alec switched his weapon to his left hand and raised two fingers on his right hand, as brown earth runes materialized around his fingers as he summoned a Terra bullet aiming it at the raised head.
But before he could shoot it, he sensed danger approaching within his 16-meter range.
Reacting swiftly, Alec sidestepped as a bone bullet whizzed past him.
Alec's eyes widened as he gazed at the Lich, who stared back with a outstretched right hand and two fingers pointed directly at him.
It was both amusing and unnerving that a Lich had mimicked Alec's own format of innate spell casting.
And he recreated it with his own manipulation of bones, it almost seemed as if the Lich was mocking him, but Alec didn't allow himself to be too bothered as he noticed that Titan and Legion were already advancing toward him after dealing with their opponents.
Positioning themselves on either side, they were ready to confront the Dullahan.
Legion was the first to charge, thrusting his spear forward with his right hand, however, the Dullahan deftly shifted at the last second, allowing the spear to merely graze his side before casually swinging his axe.
He used the axe to hook Legion's neck, dragging him forward, then delivered a kick straight to one of Legion's legs, causing him to lose balance and kneel before him.
Watching the Dullahan fight so effortlessly with one hand was astonishing, even for Alec, it was like observing a master disciplining students, as the Dullahan still cradled its head in its left hand, While it was preoccupied with Legion, Titan caught up and swung his mace at its face.
But the Dullahan lifted its head with its hand, turning to stare at Titan.
This brief distraction allowed Legion the opportunity to inflict serious damage, as his left hand summoned a robotic shield and he smashed it into the Dullahan's groin.
The Dullahan staggered back, the pained expression on the raised head indicating it felt the blow deeply.
Before it could recover, Alec seized the moment, spurred by his summons' quick attack, and delivered fast, precise slashes aimed at all the openings and vulnerable spots he could find.
Yet, no matter how Alec aimed for the Dullahan's head during his attack, his Changdao was always met with the axe, ever vigilant in its defense.
The clanging of their weapons clashing resonated with each encounter.
Bang!
A massive fireball was hurled toward Alec, but Titan intervened, shielding Alec's back with a colossal ice barrier.
Despite this, the Lich persisted in its assault, determined to eliminate Alec's golem who had stopped it's spell.
The Dullahan, might be one of the legendary and formidable undead, but it was struggling against Alec and his two captain-ranked golems.
It managed to parry Legion's spear thrusts and aimed a cleaving strike at Alec, forcing him to step back, but this move opened up an opportunity for the Dullahan to execute a horizontal swing at Legion, who was momentarily without support, however, Legion reacted swiftly, spinning his laser spear to gain momentum and power.
Bang!
The clash sent both Legion and the Dullahan reeling from the shockwave.
As the Dullahan's head spun through the air, having underestimated the counter-shock repulse of Legion's spear rotation.
It had believed its strength could overpower any adversary, but Legion had anticipated this, focusing on the larger strategy.
As he picked himself up, the robotic face of Legion displayed a smile upon realizing that Alec had caught the Dullahan's head.
Legion's hands were destroyed, and his chest was cracked, yet he remained operational, his survival hinged on the fact that his body structure had been completely altered, and he was powered by a power stone core.
And as long as his core remained intact, he would continue to function like any other robot, still capable of limited movement, alec observed as even Titan was flung away, no longer able to withstand the barrage of the Lich's spells.
That was when the Dullahan rose to its feet, and a flaming cape materialized around it, Alec saw the information indicating that the Dullahan becomes twice as strong when it lost its head and entered an enraged mode until it reclaimed its head.
Without hesitation, Alec thrust the Changdao in his hand toward the head, and the Dullahan's body convulsed.
"Burn, you freak of nature," Alec declared as he channelled his flame element, sending a torrent of flames through the Changdao and into the brain, frying it and causing the Dullahan's body to collapse to the ground.
"No!" the Lich screamed.
Alec was initially perplexed by the Lich's reaction until he noticed all the zombies and skeletons they were facing crumble to the ground, and It dawned on him that these were not the Lich's forces but the Dullahan's army.
The Lich had been acting like a general, masquerading as the leader.
It seemed the Dullahan had been forced to reveal itself when the battle wasn't turning in its favour, pretending to be a summon to mislead Alec and his group into targeting the Lich.
Its premature demise was due to an unexpected variable—Alec.
Alec's involvement in the battle had led to its downfall, now, with the Dullahan dead, the human mages turned their attention to the Lich, which was still protected by the Bone Claw, whose head injury was in the process of healing.
