The Golem Mage

Chapter 317: Despicable Captain.

Alec wasted no time recalling all of his golems the moment they reached the city gates.

The sight of Titan who was such in a damaged state pained Alec's heart, for Titan was undoubtedly his strongest golem.

These past few days, Alec had been facing opponents stronger than himself as that was the dangers of the Abyss Realm, which had forced Titan to sacrifice itself multiple times, as none of Alec's other golems could take over that job.

This had significantly hindered Titan's progress, and Alec couldn't help but feel that it should have already reached Tier 3 Golem status with the amount of experience it had gained, but due to all the repairs it had lagged behind a little affecting its breakthrough.

But still yet Titan had always charged in without hesitation, acting as Alec's reliable shield whenever danger lurked.

Brandon placed his hands on Alec's shoulders, sensing the weight of his worry, even if other were not able to tell what was up with Alec, him and Arthur had stayed with Alec the longest and were aware of why he was feeling down.

"Don't worry, I have faith in you to make Titan even stronger than before. And besides, I don't think it will have to go through another sacrificing phase like this," Arthur who was nearby reassured Alec.

"With what we've gained today, we should have enough to propel all of us to the Tier 3 Mage Realm and still live like kings for a few days, before taking his place as punching bags. "

Arthur Continued as Brandon nodded his head in agreement.

Their words of encouragement lifted Alec's spirits as they finally reached the gates of the human city base.

The sentries blew the trumpet of announcements, prompting the soldiers below to open the gates for them to enter.

As they stepped inside the city, the mage from James' group which words mostly jinxed them dropped to his knees and kissed the ground, tears streaming down his face.

"I am saved!, I won't ever have to leave for a whole month," the mage exclaimed with relief.

Even Vixie and James appeared visibly stressed, questioning whether their knowledge of the Abyss Realm was truly up to date.

Ever since they began delving into the Abyss Realm, they had been chased and engaged in battles.

But nothing of that could compared to the adrenaline rush, excitement, and fear they had experienced in their last two adventures with Alec and his group, as they have been chased silly both times they have gone with the Gordons.

Vixie glanced at them as they chatted happily, with Arthur's voice being the loudest, as if they hadn't just narrowly escaped death moments ago.

Witnessing this scene, Vixie shook her head in defeat, realizing that she would never truly understand how the minds of the Gordons clansmen worked.

It didn't take long for them to notice the looks of respect they were receiving from the guards around them.

It almost felt as if they were being worshipped.

Even some of the mages near the city gates gazed at Alec's group with reverence.

everyone had heard that loud explosion, and people had heard about how this small squad of mages had successfully driven away a large horde of orcs and plant life forms.

Such an achievement was not to be taken lightly. It was unheard of for a group this size to take on an army of over 600 and emerge unscathed.

Their actions had elevated them to the status of mini-celebrities.

The guards saluted in their direction showing there respect, and even Vixie couldn't help but blush at the show of respect, momentarily forgetting her resolve to stay away from anything related to the Gordons clan.

Lucas Blade couldn't suppress his smugness as he basked in the attention he was receiving.

Just as they were being surrounded by guards, a middle-aged man approached them and headed straight for Alec.

"The Captain would like to have a word with you all, If you don't mind, kindly come with me to his quarters," the man said to Alec.

Without hesitation, Alec and the gang followed the middle-aged man to a military-type building.

Inside, they saw another man standing with his back towards them, deep in thought as he studied a large map on the wall in front of him.

"I have brought them, Captain Caden. If you don't mind, I will take my leave now,"

The middle-aged man said, bowing towards the man in front.

The captain simply waved his hand, acknowledging the departure of their guide, who silently left the room as if scared not to make a noise.

the captain, From his position, did not turn around or address Alec and the gang, maintaining his focus on the map.

Alec grew impatient, waiting for the man to acknowledge their presence.

Just as he was about to speak up, the man's deep and dangerous voice echoed through the room, catching Alec off guard.

"I am proud of your display of strength today. I even tried to access your file in the archives, but I was denied."

" Later, I discovered that you are the student of the academy's madman, and it became clear why you seemed so familiar to me," the captain stated.

"Because only that madman would attempt to stop an army with such a small group of mages. So, tell me, what have you done to incur the anger of two different races to the extent that they sent a hundreds after you?" the captain demanded.

"And don't you dare lie. I can see that your friend still carries a bag of Nature Power stones," the captain said, causing Alec to tremble, though not entirely surprised.

What shook him was the captain's ability to notice Arthur, who was concealing a large sack of Nature Low Power stones.

Despite their Combined efforts to mask the spiritual energy with their mana, the captain saw through their facade.

"Well, it's a bit of a lengthy story. Do you mind if we discuss this later?" Arthur quickly interjected.

"I have time, If you're not interested in telling me everything I want to know, be prepared for me to find out the hard way," the captain Threatened , causing Arthur to curse their luck.

They had already suspected that the captain was aware of their discovery of a mine, but his insight and ability to piece together the crucial information from their encounter made them even more wary of him.
