Chapter 219 – Company
Time Stamp: Takei's 2nd year of being in a large technology firm
"Here are the documents that you asked for."
"Thanks a lot, but I'm surprised you didn't slack off and forget this time."
"I don't slack off that much?!"
In the office of a large technology company, there were two people who were busy bantering around while everyone else was working. Although one of them was already finished with their work, the other one had been clearly slacking and hadn't finished anything yet.
"Listen, Eiji. You've been the biggest slacker for as long as I can remember. I remember that one time in high school where you skipped class to go to a meet-and-greet."
"It was for my favorite idol though! I promised Suzune that I would go to meet her no matter what!"
"I'm saying this as a friend, but I don't think that idol named Suzune actually knows who you are."
"Tch, Takei... How dare you insult my favorite idol?!"
"Dude, you're literally married now. I wonder what Helena would think if she heard this," Takei sighed.
"Don't worry, she knows!"
After Takei had attained a degree from passing college, he was immediately thrust into a high-paying job due to his stellar grades and loads of experience. He had received an internship during his junior year of college, so he was already heads and shoulders above the competition.
Once he managed to secure a stable and good-paying job, Takei settled down with Akari after finding a good house to buy. About a year later, Eiji waltzed into the company and announced that he was their newest coworker.
"I can't believe you accidentally got a job at this company because you made an otome game," Takei laughed.
Eiji laughed with him while slapping Takei's back. "The only reason why I took the job was because I knew you were here! I knew having you as a superior would be better than any other random idiot off the street."
"I'm not letting you slack off anymore."
"Noooooo!"
Although the both of them were at work, they still acted as familiar and relaxed as they usually do. It was most likely because the workplace was a very safe space to be. There wasn't anyone working any overtime hours, no drama, and there was a good atmosphere all around.
Even the managers and the people higher up in the company were all good people, which was something that shocked Takei. It was an ideal workplace that he loved to work at, but managing an airhead was one of the things he didn't particularly care for.
"Well, whatever. I'm already done with my work, so I'll go home and spoil Akari a lot!" Takei said as he hurriedly grabbed his coat and put it on.
Eiji just exasperatedly shook his head in response. "You guys are still that lovey-dovey, huh? I guess a honeymoon phase never really existed for you two."
"Yep, we're as lovey-dovey as ever!"
"I suppose the next time I'll see you will be at your wedding?" Eiji asked.
Takei nodded. "It'll be two weeks from now, but I'm cashing in my vacation days early so I can spend time with her."
"Always the gentleman, aren't you?" Eiji chuckled as he waved Takei off.

"I'm home," Takei said as he returned home after work.
With a ladle in hand and an apron covering her front, Akari came out from the kitchen and welcomed Takei home with a warm smile. "Welcome back, dear. Would you like dinner? A bath? Or me...?"
"You're having fun with the housewife role, aren't you?" Takei grinned.
"I'm having tons of fun in fact," Akari giggled.
Akari went to put away the ladle and then came back to welcome Takei home with a big hug and a kiss on the lips. They had been doing this routine for a long time, so they were quite used to it by now.
"How was work today? Did Eiji tease you too much?"
"Not more than usual," Takei shrugged. "We talked a bit about our wedding that's coming up."
"Ah, you got me excited now. What did Eiji have to say about us getting married?" Akari asked.
Takei just shrugged as he went to hang up his coat. "He was happy for us and seemed excited to go to our wedding."
"Same old Eiji, huh?" Akari laughed as she went to sit down next to Takei.
Every now and then, everyone in their friend group would come together and have a good time together. Although they were all responsible adults with full-time jobs now, that didn't stop them from being friends.
"Well then, how about you? How do you feel about becoming Akari Tanaka soon?"
"I've been waiting all my life for this moment!" Akari cutely pumped her fists in the air.
The wedding that Takei and Akari had been planning for a couple years was finally going to be able to see the light. Together, they meticulously revised the wedding plan over and over until it suited both of them.
"For me, I'm really excited to be together with you in name as well. Akari Tanaka just has a certain ring to it, don't you think?"
"Mmm, then we'll be known as the Tanaka household in the neighborhood from now on!" Akari let out a lazy grin. "I've been dreaming about this moment since high school, so I can't believe that it's finally happening."
"Mister and missus Tanaka reporting for duty!" Takei got up from the couch and struck a pose. "We're going to be the most lovey-dovey newlyweds in the whole world!"
"Shhhh! The neighbors are going to hear us if we're too loud..." Akari raised a finger to her mouth to emphasize the fact that they need to be quiet. "And also... it's a little bit embarrassing..."
Seeing Akari in such a weakened and embarrassed state healed Takei's soul. "I'll be waiting to see your wedding dress then!"
"Mou, you're not listening to me..." Akari pouted.
A wise man once said that a happy wife equals a happy life, so Takei decided to take that advice.
"I'll buy you some ice cream after dinner."
"Yay!~"
With the curtains closed on another night of happiness, there was not much time left until the wedding between Takei Tanaka and Akari Akazawa would happen.
