The God of Ice and Fire at Hogwarts

Chapter 33: Alchemy and Magic Combined

During the following week, Lynn followed Nico to learn about alchemy and tried using it to create some small devices.

Unlike array alchemy, the alchemy of materials does not require the use of a carving knife but rather relies on flames. This is why, when Lynn first asked Professor Green for advice, Professor Green suggested that Lynn practice more fire spells.

The alchemical process in the alchemy of materials has extremely high requirements for flames. A large part of the practice for material alchemists is spent mastering the control of flames, and Lynn's strong affinity for fire perfectly meets this requirement, allowing him to skip this step and reach a higher level earlier than others.

Therefore, after only one week of study, Lynn's knowledge of the alchemy of materials was already no less than that of other material alchemists who had practiced for two or three years.

After all, most material alchemists need one or two years to build the foundation for controlling fire.

On the sixth day of Lynn's study of material alchemy, Professor Green also visited Nico's hut. After confirming that Lynn's theoretical knowledge of alchemy met the requirements, he taught Lynn the method of refining the anti-magic stone.

After obtaining the method to refine the Anti-Magic Stone, Lynn spent a whole day mastering it, completing the refinement of the first Anti-Magic Stone under Nico's guidance.

This Anti-Magic Stone was not very large, only about the size of a fingernail. After Lynn used array alchemy to engrave an alchemical array on it, he embedded it in a bracelet and completed the refinement of an anti-magic bracelet using the same method.

In the next three days, Lynn continued to improve his knowledge of material alchemy while refining more anti-magic stones to enhance his practical ability in material alchemy.

At this point, there were five days left before Lynn returned to the UK.

Nicolas Flamel approached Lynn and signaled for him to stop the alchemy in his hands. The old man's tone was a bit mysterious: "Lynn, you don't need to continue learning more alchemical knowledge in the remaining days, and put your practice aside for now. You can practice these things on your own after returning to Hogwarts."

"Come with me, our next lesson will not be held here!"

Nico walked out of the cabin, and Lynn quickly supported the old man to prevent him from falling due to the wind.

After leaving the hut, Nico pulled out his wand and tapped it on a metal cube on the ground in front of him.

Before long, Lynn and Nico appeared in a square training ground with a side length of more than 200 meters. This square training ground was large enough to even play Quidditch in.

Lynn was a little surprised. The metal cube he had seen earlier turned out to be a manually triggered portkey. It was clear that the metal cube was an alchemical product modified by Nico, and its function was to teleport the wizard who activated it to a specific location.

Nico pointed his wand at himself, his lips moving slightly, as if chanting some spell.

A light flashed, and Nico seemed to stand up straighter, no longer as frail as before.

"Lynn, which do you think is more powerful, magic or alchemy?"

Nico looked at Lynn mysteriously and asked.

Lynn hesitated for a moment. He looked at the old man in front of him and thought of Dumbledore, the so-called "White Lord." He shook his head and said, "Master, I don't know."

Nico said, "If you ask me, I actually don't know. Both magic and alchemy have their own strengths, but after all, we are wizards, not pure alchemists. Lynn, I plan to teach you a secret method that combines alchemy with magic, and even makes alchemy assist magic. Are you willing to learn it?"

"I studied this secret method two hundred years ago. I didn't even teach that fellow Valison. Of course, that was only because his magical talent wasn't enough to match his alchemical talent, so he couldn't use this method. But you are different. You are only in your first year, yet you can already perform silent and wandless magic. Your magical talent is certainly not weaker than your alchemical talent!"

Nicolas Flamel spoke seriously, his eyes seeming to light up.

Hearing this, Lynn quickly said, "Master, I am willing to learn!"

Nico nodded slowly and said, "The combination of alchemy and magic requires not only knowledge of both array alchemy and material alchemy but also the ability for wizards to cast magic silently and without a wand. I think Valison should have told you that if you want to create an alchemical array from thin air, your magical reserves are far from enough, right?"

Lynn nodded.

After Lynn and Professor Green teamed up to defeat the dark wizard Casiraghi on Halloween night, Lynn had wanted to learn Professor Green's technique for creating alchemical arrays from thin air to fight, but Professor Green had refused for this very reason.

Nico continued, "It's true that you can't perform alchemy without a carrier, but what if you use your magic as a carrier for alchemy?!"

Nico's words seemed to open a door to a new world for Lynn.

Can magic also be used as a medium for alchemy?

Lynn was a bit confused.

"Of course, pure magic cannot be used as a carrier for alchemy, but what if the product of alchemy is transformed into a magical form and integrated into magic? Just as you can refine an alchemical array on the Anti-Magic Stone, you can also refine your own alchemical array on magic that is integrated with alchemy!"

Nicolas Flamel said this.

He waved his wand, and dozens of different substances condensed out of thin air under the burning flames, eventually forming a ball of magical power through material alchemy.

"Clear water like a spring!" Nico chanted a spell, and a stream of water was summoned from the tip of Nico's wand. The previous magical power integrated into the stream of water under the wand's control.

Then, Nico waved his wand again, and alchemical runes condensed on the surface of the water and merged into it.

With the combination of alchemy and magic, the water transformed into a special alchemical flow that could change its hardness and softness according to Nico's will, and could even turn into a water blade that cut through iron like clay at any time!

Nico raised his wand and retracted the water flow into the wand: "If it were you, you would need a carving knife to perform alchemy on magic. In addition, the product of the combination of alchemy and magic can be recovered and stored by your wand. In other words, as long as the power contained in this product of alchemy and magic is not exhausted, you can reuse it without repeating the alchemical process."

The special water flow from before continued to appear and disappear according to Nico's thoughts.
