The God of Ice and Fire at Hogwarts

Chapter 23: Christmas

Lynn shook his head. He didn't care about the danger at this moment. Nothing in the world is infallible. If he truly feared danger, he wouldn't have come here in the first place.

Lynn looked at Professor Green with serious eyes and said, "Professor, I want to learn the method you used to create the alchemy circle from nothing and use it to fight."

Upon hearing this, Professor Green was stunned. He hadn't expected Lynn to be watching his battle so closely. He had thought Lynn had arrived just when he was barely holding on.

But soon, a look of relief appeared on Professor Green's face. Given Casiraghi's strength, he would have detected any changes in his surroundings. Since Lynn hadn't been noticed, it meant Lynn had followed his earlier advice and applied it wisely.

However, in response to Lynn's request, Professor Green shook his head and said, "Whether it's carving the alchemy set without a carving knife or drawing the alchemy circle without a conductor, it takes a lot of time and immense magical power."

"Based on your current rate of magical power growth, I can teach you how to compress magical energy and use a wand instead of a carving knife when you reach your fourth year. By your fifth year, I can teach you how to create an alchemy circle from nothing. For now, all you need to do is improve your alchemy skills and create your own carving knife."

Professor Green said.

Lynn nodded, somewhat disappointed. The base of magical power in his body was one of his greatest weaknesses at the moment.

"I have to go back, Professor." Lynn estimated the time. If he returned immediately, he would make it back to the castle before the Weasley twins informed the professor.

Professor Green waved his hand, signaling that Lynn should go ahead.

Lynn retraced his steps and returned to the castle from the entrance near the One-Eyed Witch statue.

"Thank goodness you're back. If you had been two minutes later, we would have had to report to Professor Dumbledore!" George breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Lynn return.

Fred noticed the scar on Lynn's neck. He looked solemn and said, "Lynn, you're hurt! What danger did you encounter?"

Lynn shook his head and said, "It's nothing. I didn't meet Professor Green in Hogsmeade, so I had to return it the same way."

Lynn didn't tell the twins the full truth because the existence of the Forbidden Scepter was a secret between Lynn and Professor Green, and it shouldn't be revealed to the outside world at this time. Even though the Weasley twins were his friends, he wouldn't share such sensitive information.

"That's good," Fred sighed in relief.

Lynn forced a smile and said, "It's fine, just a false alarm. Now it's time to enjoy our Halloween!"

At this, Fred and George applauded.

...

Over the next two months, Lynn returned to his normal study routine. Neither he nor Professor Green spoke of the events on Halloween night, and Lynn continued to make progress in his studies.

In Transfiguration class, he could easily transform inanimate objects and even change small animals like cockroaches and mice into buttons, vases, and other inanimate items. Essentially, in every class, Lynn earned bonus points for Slytherin House.

In Charms, he could cast all the first-year spells silently, and after class, he even learned from Professor Flitwick how to cast some second- and third-year spells silently. Lynn's performance earned him praise from Professor Flitwick, who called him a genius.

In Potions class, Lynn's talent for potion-making seemed to be gradually awakening. When brewing potions, his partner was often Irwin Foley. The two worked together more skillfully each time, and their partnership turned them into relatively good friends.

Of course, there were some subjects where Lynn was not particularly good, like Herbology and Astronomy. His talent in these two subjects was not very high, and if the final exams came, Lynn estimated he would only get a "Acceptable" ("A") grade, rather than the "Outstanding" ("O") grade he easily earned in classes like Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Charms, and Potions.

As for History of Magic…

Professor Binns' teaching style was truly hypnotic. Even a student like Lynn had to treat it as a way to recover his sleep.

But even so, Lynn's independent study of the History of Magic textbooks was enough to earn him excellent grades.

In addition to the mandatory courses for first through fifth-year students, there was also a Flying class that only first-year students had to take. Lynn was not very good at flying, so he just took it as it came.

The weather was growing colder, and Merlin seemed to have put on thick woolen socks.

By mid-December, Christmas arrived at Hogwarts.

Early in the morning, Hogwarts Castle woke from its sleep. The castle was covered by several feet of snow, and the surface of the Black Lake was coated with hard ice.

Several owls delivered the mail through the wind and rain, struggling for a long time. Only after regaining their strength under Hagrid's care could they continue their flight.

The little witches and wizards eagerly awaited the holiday. Although there were fireplaces in the common rooms and hallways of each house to provide warmth, the hallways with drafts and the windows of classrooms, shaken by the cold, remained freezing.

On Christmas Day, even Lynn rarely slept in late.

When he got up, he found seven gifts at the foot of his bed.

Lynn opened the first gift, which was square-shaped. This gift had been sent by his mother, Rowena, via owl from the post office. Inside was a beautifully crafted silver one-handed sword. Lynn had requested this in a letter a week ago, hoping his mother would send it to him.

For more than a month, Lynn's clothes had been marked with alchemical circles, and no more sizes would fit. Other items were not suitable for engraving alchemical circles, so this one-handed sword arrived just in time to solve his urgent need.

The next three gifts were given by Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick, and Professor Snape respectively. These were likely rewards for Lynn's outstanding performance in class. Honestly, Lynn hadn't expected gifts like these from them—especially from Snape, who was known for his cold demeanor.
