The God of Ice and Fire at Hogwarts

Chapter 226: Hermione's Worldview Collapses

On the first morning after school started, the third-year wizards of Gryffindor House attended Hagrid's Care of Magical Creatures class.

On the way to the Care of Magical Creatures class, Irina whispered to Hermione beside her, "Hermione, did anything happen in the castle during the week I was away at Christmas?"

Hermione thought for a moment and said, "If there are more important things, there are two. One of them is that Harry got a Firebolt as a Christmas present. But think about it, Irina, who would give Harry such an expensive gift as a Firebolt?"

Irina, who already knew the answer, pretended to think and whispered, "Could it be Sirius Black?!"

Hermione said: "That's what I guess. I'm worried that the Firebolt Harry received might have a curse cast by Sirius Black."

Irina asked, "So, you reported this to Professor McGonagall, right?"

Hearing this, Hermione couldn't help but asked in surprise: "How do you know? Did Harry and Ron tell you about this?"

Irina said helplessly: "I guessed. Hermione, although you reported this matter to the professor for their own good, you should also understand the importance of Firebolt to those boys. I think Harry and Ron are probably still blaming you now!"

Telling tales is often the most annoying thing for students, and students who tell tales are always excluded by others. However, Hermione reported the matter to Professor McGonagall not because she wanted to show off in front of the professor or because she wanted to see Harry make a fool of himself.

She just wanted her friends' safety to be guaranteed and didn't want to put her friends in danger.

Everything Hermione did, both factually and emotionally, was to protect her friends, Harry and Ron.

Irina didn't want Hermione to be disliked by Harry and Ron because of this incident.

"But what if there is a curse on the Firebolt? We can't just watch Harry almost fall from the sky like he did the year before last?"

Hermione argued.

Irina said, "I know what you did was right, but you also know that Harry and Ron are like children, always impulsive and irrational. But they are our friends after all. In order to consider their feelings, I think you may have to apologize to them."

Hermione fell silent after hearing Irina's words.

As smart as she is, how could she not know that she had ignored Harry and Ron's feelings before? !

However, she still had a bit of pride as a genius in her heart, which prevented her from giving in to Harry and Ron.

Now that Irina was mediating, Hermione finally nodded. She looked at Harry and Ron who were chatting together not far away, and said softly, "I know. I will apologize to them later."

Seeing that Hermione seemed to be in a low mood, Irina changed the subject and said, "By the way, Hermione, Harry receiving the Firebolt is one of the things, so what about the second thing?"

After hearing Irina's question, Hermione's mood did not improve. Instead, she became even more depressed. She whispered, "Malfoy's father complained about Hagrid's Care of Magical Creatures class. Although Hagrid was found not responsible under Professor Dumbledore's guarantee, Buckbeak will be sent to trial."

Irina scratched her head; her words seemed to have the opposite effect.

Hermione seemed a little excited. She said, "Buckbeak is just an innocent hippogriff. Malfoy is clearly asking for trouble! However, Buckbeak will be sent to the Dangerous Creatures Committee in April. I looked up many files related to the Dangerous Creatures Act during the Christmas holidays, but except for the cases where the monsters on trial were so powerful that the wizards could do nothing, there was not a single case in which the magical creatures were found not guilty."

Hearing this, Irina's expression also became serious.

Although in the original book, Buckbeak was secretly released by Harry and his friends after they went back to the past using a time-turner, Buckbeak later became a shady existence and could no longer walk in front of wizards as openly as before.

This was something Irina didn't want to see.

"Perhaps, that's the arrogance of wizards. In the eyes of wizards, the lives of magical animals are so cheap... With the power of the Malfoy family, it is far beyond the ability of us little wizards and Hagrid to resist. I think that even if we have enough evidence to prove Buckbeak's innocence, Malfoy's father will have a way to bribe the officials in charge of the trial and convict him!"

Irina said softly.

By this time, the group had reached the edge of the paddock, and everyone could see Hagrid.

"Why? That's the Ministry of Magic. Shouldn't they enforce the law impartially?! If we have enough evidence, how can Malfoy's father influence the outcome of the trial?!"

Hermione said in disbelief, she felt like her worldview was about to collapse.

Whether when she first came to the wizarding world or now, Hermione has always attached great importance to the so-called rules. Although under the influence of Harry and others over the years, she no longer regards school rules as sacred as she used to, but she still has great trust in the laws of the wizarding world.

But now, Irina told her that a powerful force could distort the law and influence the Ministry's decision. How could she accept this? !

"During the Hogsmeade week before Christmas, you should have heard the conversation between Fudge and the others, right? Think about it, even Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, ignored the lives of the residents of Hogsmeade for his own selfish desires and allowed Dementors to roam freely in the place where wizards live. What about those ordinary officials of the Ministry of Magic?"

Irina said so.

Hermione looked up suddenly. From Irina's words, she extracted a piece of information, that is, Irina was also present at the Three Broomsticks Bar that day.

Otherwise, she would never have been able to describe the content of Fudge's conversation in such detail.

Looking at Hermione's eyes, Irina spread her hands and said, "As you can imagine, Lynn and I were also in the Three Broomsticks that day. We sat at another table, and we could see you, Ron and Harry, as well as Fudge, clearly."

After figuring out everything, Hermione looked dejected.

"If that's the case, then Buckbeak is doomed."

Hermione said desperately.

Irina sighed. She also didn't want Buckbeak to be put on trial. But how could she, a Muggle-born, fight against the power of the Malfoy family?

Unless the power of the Sacred 28 pure-blood families took action...

Wait, the Holy Twenty-Eight Pure-Blood Families, the Rowle Family?!

Irina suddenly realized that she had been thinking about the power of herself, Hermione and others, and she was in a dark situation. She actually ignored the Rowle family where Lynn was.

You know, both Lynn's Rowle family and Irving's Foley family are one of the twenty-eight holy pure-blood families!

However, Irina was unwilling to force them. After all, neither Lynn nor Irving had the obligation to use their family's power for a hippogriff.
