The Genjutsu Devil of Konoha

Chapter 62: A chunin of Konoha (62)

The Chunin examiners counted his performance—yeah, he was legit. The letter came that day. The bodies of every contestant were found. Most of them were alive and conscious.

However, some were crippled, and one—the guy from Kumo—was dead, as if his head had been cleanly cut off from his body.

They had heard his release command. He couldn't let them go around spreading it, even if that was what he wanted them to do.

Why, you may ask? His sword was merely a conduit for his power. He could, in fact, cast a lot of advanced Genjutsu without it.

However, he wanted the world to believe he couldn't. And since he was giving off the "smart student" look...

Seijuro had to keep up the act of not wanting his secret to leak out. So, the two guys who heard his release command were killed, and everyone else was completely oblivious to how they lost.

One second, they were conscious. The next, they encountered him—and were knocked out.

Somehow, their minds were kinda broken after being forced to view their life flash before their eyes over and over and over again—forced to relive the most traumatizing moment in their life in a loop, for 1,500 times.

Needless to say, none of them would ever dare hold a kunai again. Thus, the message that Konoha wanted to send had been sent:

We had big D energy. Stay away.

Upon hearing the news, Hiruzen was pleased. Seijuro had done exactly what was asked of him.

As the Hokage looked at the boy, he felt a deep shame that he didn't have a daughter. Marrying someone with such potential into his clan would've been a great trade-off.

Anyway, time for him to give his hour-long Hokage monologue.

"Kurama Seijuro, you have proven yourself to be quite a capable shinobi."

Seijuro showed some light respect to the Hokage.

"I merely did what was asked of me."

There was no need for all that extra glaze. He was asked to do some shit, and he did that shit. It was no biggie, really.

"That does not diminish your actions in the slightest. You are a proud shinobi of Konoha," the old man said.

Hm. He really was careful with his words here.

"I feel honored the Hokage views me in such regard."

His voice sounded quite polite. He even had a light smile there, just in case. The smile wasn't fake—he simply thought of the time he spent with Mikoto... Hm, maybe he was getting too attached to the Uchiha girl.

If that was all it took to get a genuine smile from him...

Tsunade seemed stunned. Yes, she was also present. Not once—not once—had she ever seen a trace of something so genuine on his face. It was so rare. She knew she was contradicting herself saying "not once had she seen it" then going on to say it was a "rare sight," basically admitting she had seen it.

Let her rephrase herself—

Not once had she seen him smile for something like that. Usually, it was while learning jutsu or when he was training Mikoto.

"Kurama Seijuro, from today forward... you are now a Chunin of Konohagakure," the Hokage said, handing Seijuro his vest.

He was by far the youngest shinobi to become a Chunin. Well, that record would be broken in a few years by a 6-year-old, who would later become a Jounin by the tender age of 12.

However, that wasn't here nor there. Even if said child was already a Chunin by his age—Chunin Seijuro would whoop his ass any day of the week.

Chunin Seijuro would even beat his ass as a Jounin. We do not need to stay on that for longer.

While true, Seijuro could have graduated earlier, he just wanted to build on his base. As a 6-year-old, all he knew was Genjutsu... good-ass Genjutsu, but just basically Genjutsu. He was like an average civilian, given S-rank Genjutsu as his skill.

He took the Chunin vest from the Hokage.

"I am honored," he said calmly.

Hiruzen let his hand pass through his beard. This child was proving to be quite smart.

Hm. The ANBU was a bit too high, but he could offer the child the chance to work in ANBU, in order to have a closer lea—

Ahem, so that the child could be closer to him.

"As for your reward," the Hokage said, taking out a scroll.

Seijuro took the scroll.

It was the Strength of a Hundred Seal jutsu.

Seijuro felt nice having this. His lackluster chakra reserves needed the greatest of boosts.

"Thank you, Hokage-sama."

"No bother. It was the least I could do."

Ah yes. Glazing the old man for just holding up his end of the deal. Truly, the Shinobi Way.

"Tsunade will teach you the basics of the seal," the old man said, to which he nodded.

"You shall report back here in three weeks."

'Oh, so I'm being deployed already,' Seijuro could roughly guess why.

Well, not like he wasn't ready. As long as he doesn't run into some Kage-tier fighter, he was fine. He was basically an elite Jounin.

A/N....How many chapter will it be before he get what he wants.
