The Genius Actor Who Brings Misfortune

Chapter 215

Chapter 215

The fan meeting was in full swing.

“In-ah, come over here.”

One of the fan club staff called out to the president, Kwon In-ah.

“What’s wrong?”

“Did that guy do something to you?”

“What?”

The president looked puzzled at the sudden question.

When she asked what they meant, the woman pointed with her chin.

“That guy over there.”

“Who? That part-timer?”

“Yeah. He’s been staring at me all day, and he just made a lewd comment to Min-ji. Asked her if she wanted to do it with him.”

“What?”

The president was horrified.

The person she pointed to was a day laborer hired for the fan meeting.

The meeting had grown bigger than expected, so they needed extra help.

The man in the black cap seemed ordinary at first glance.

‘Damn it, we hired a lunatic.’

The president rubbed her aching temples.

“There’s always a crazy one. He didn’t touch anyone, did he?”

“No, just talked. Min-ji didn’t have time to record it. Seems like he’s a repeat offender, so be careful.”

“Damn… Got it.”

The president let out a deep sigh.

Informing security might escalate the situation unnecessarily.

Guys like him typically raised their voices, claiming they were being falsely accused without evidence.

She wanted to kick him out right away, but it was Bambi’s birthday.

She didn’t want to end the fan meeting, which Bambi had spent almost a month preparing, with a commotion.

“How much longer is the fan meeting?”

“Less than thirty minutes.”

“Okay, let’s ignore him until then and tell the others to stay away from him.”

The woman nodded.

The president looked back at the stage to clear her mind.

Bambi, unaware of everything, was smiling like sunshine.

His hair was tousled from changing outfits multiple times during the two-hour fan meeting, trying to do everything the fans wanted.

His light pink, cotton candy-like hair was fluffed up like dandelion seeds.

‘Adorable.’

Seeing that scene restored a bit of her lost faith in humanity.

She took a deep breath.

There’s always a crazy one.

Especially in such a crowded place.

‘Let’s just get through the remaining time safely.’

The president turned to look at the troublesome man.

‘If you try anything, I’ll kill you.’

She decided to keep a close watch on him to ensure he didn’t do anything weird.

* * *

‘Wait a minute… Where am I?’

The president felt something was wrong a few minutes later.

She had tried to stay close to the man with the black cap to keep an eye on him, but she had lost sight of him.

She had kept her distance while following him, but now she found herself alone in a gloomy corridor.

‘Where did that bastard go?’

He had been just ahead a moment ago.

“……”

Looking around, she only heard the whirring sound of machines.

Coming from a place bustling with people, the silence felt unsettling.

‘Better get back.’

She put on a calm face and turned around.

“Hello, pretty.”

Oh, shit.

Seeing the face right in front of her, she squeezed her eyes shut.

“You’ve been following me, haven’t you? Want to do it with me? That’s sneaky.”

The man in the black cap was smiling with his cheeks raised.

His disgusting appearance made her expression go blank.

She knew better than to show any reaction to guys like him.

“You’re mistaken. I took a wrong turn. Please move aside.”

“No need to be coy. I like thrills too.”

What the hell is he talking about?

Backing away, she quickly scanned her surroundings.

The narrow corridor offered no escape.

“…!”

Taking advantage of her moment of inattention, the man’s hand suddenly reached out.

“Whoa, calm down.”

“You―.”

“We don’t have time for much. Let’s just enjoy it quickly.”

Fighting off the hand groping her, she tried to scream. But the man covered her mouth tightly with one hand.

As his other hand moved over her body…

Bang!

A massive hand reached out from behind and threw the man against the wall.

“Ow, what―”

Stunned by the sudden attack, the man tried to speak, but the huge hand pressed his face against the wall.

“Don’t move.”

“Ugh―”

The man was enormous, large enough to block the corridor light.

Caught off guard, the president watched in shock.

‘Who is that?’

As she stared, bewildered, at the two men facing off, she could barely comprehend what had happened.

“Chairman, are you alright?”

Pink hair fluttered in front of my eyes.

“…Bambi?”

Lee Yeon-jae was kneeling in front of me.

It was only then that the chairman regained his senses at the familiar voice.

The person who subdued the man in the black hat was Lee Yeon-jae’s manager, An Jin-bae.

“Are you hurt anywhere? Should we go to the hospital?”

As the chairman stared blankly, Bambi’s eyebrows furrowed.

“No, I’m not hurt…”

The chairman, still not fully grasping the situation, looked around.

Bambi was looking at him with concern, the manager was firmly restraining the man in the black hat, and the production crew was holding cameras.

‘…Camera?’

The chairman stared at the crew holding the cameras with a bewildered look.

The crew had the same puzzled expressions as the chairman.

One of the staff muttered.

“What is all this…?”

It was a thought everyone had in their minds.

* * *

“Actor, we’ve sent all the fans home safely.”

“Is there anyone missing?”

“No, we checked all the attendance lists.”

Only after hearing Jin-bae hyung’s words, did I let out the sigh I had been holding in.

“Ha…”

The man was taken straight to the police station.

The scene where the man tried to assault Chairman Kwon In-ah was clearly captured on camera, leaving no room for excuses.

Thanks to finding the chairman in time, we were able to stop the incident before it escalated, but it also meant that the man’s crime was attempted and not completed.

And the punishment for attempted sexual crimes in our country is ridiculously lenient.

At best, he would get a warning or a small fine.

‘I can’t let that happen.’

Even if I had to turn my eyes to dirt, I couldn’t stand that sight.

I rubbed my cold fingertips, brimming with anger.

“Jin-bae hyung, please tell the company.”

“Yes, go ahead.”

“Tell them this incident is entirely our fault. It was a problem with the staff we hired, and an outsider almost got seriously hurt because of it. Instead of just blocking the news, please make sure to take care of the victim first.”

“Understood.”

“And I hope you can help too.”

I asked him to make sure, by any means necessary, that the crazy guy would never be involved with the chairman again.

“Don’t worry, actor. I’ll make sure to handle it properly.”

After looking at his trustworthy eyes, I nodded.

When I opened the door and entered the meeting room, the chairman stood up abruptly.

“Bambi, how did you know to come? And what about those cameras?”

The chairman was so shocked that he even spoke informally, which he usually didn’t do. I made him sit down, covering her shoulders with a blanket and quickly explained the situation.

“After the fan meeting, we were supposed to do an interview for behind-the-scenes. The production crew arrived earlier than expected, so we were just escorting them to the filming location.”

“Ah… So you found me then.”

Actually, we were looking for the missing Chairman Kwon In-ah.

Swallowing the backstory she wouldn’t understand, I started with an apology.

“I’m really sorry, chairman.”

“Huh? What for?”

“For what happened today. It happened because you were helping with my fan meeting.”

“Bambi, don’t say that.”

The chairman waved his hands, saying who could have known that the person hired as a part-timer would be such a lunatic.

But I knew, and that’s why I felt guilty.

‘I should have found him earlier.’

Until now, I had briefly checked the backgrounds of the people attending the fan meeting using Mist’s abilities.

To see if there was anyone who might cause trouble, and to see if there was anything I could preemptively address.

I wanted to ensure there was no one who would ruin the ‘perfect day’.

Despite the thorough preparation, the man who was hired as a last-minute part-timer was an unexpected variable.

Reading his memories, he was just a piece of trash.

He was a scumbag who habitually harassed people at a borderline legal limit, making it difficult to pursue a legal case.

Unless he had a criminal record, I couldn’t stop him from attending just because I felt uneasy about him on paper.

‘Moreover, there was no guarantee he would do something terrible today.’

Mist’s ability was limited to seeing people’s memories.

I could roughly predict how much someone would get hurt the next day through the misfortune factor attached to a person, but I couldn’t predict their actions.

So, all I could do was ‘monitor’.

I couldn’t just accuse a seemingly fine person of being suspicious without reason.

Even while smiling brightly on stage, I kept an eye on the man from time to time.

Fortunately, nothing noticeable happened for two hours, and I let my guard down.

I realized that the man and Chairman Kwon In-ah were missing only after the fan meeting ended.

‘Huh? Where’s In-ah?’

Hearing a comment from one of the fan club organizers, my heart sank.

Without thinking, I moved my feet immediately.

‘CCTV blind spots.’

I had checked three blind spots in advance.

I moved straight to the nearest one from the fan meeting location, and the production crew followed me with cameras without knowing the reason.

Thankfully, the chairman was at the first location, and I was able to stop the man just in time.

But that was all. I just stopped him.

‘A perfect day, my foot.’

It was a mess.

I wanted to solve it cleanly like the protagonists in movies.

Of course, I knew I wasn’t a hero and didn’t have superpowers.

I knew I couldn’t prevent all the crimes in the world.

The man had nothing to do with my misfortune factor.

I knew. It wasn’t entirely my fault.

‘But…’

Was it really not my fault at all?

Could I truly say it wasn’t my fault that someone who was a fan of mine, who came to see me, experienced something like that?

‘After all, it happened because they liked me.’

Could I boldly claim that this incident wasn’t caused by me?

Various thoughts rapidly filled my mind.

I felt nauseous from the sense of powerlessness that I hadn’t felt in a long time.

“Bambi, I’m alright.”

The chairman patted my shoulder.

Her eyes were filled with concern as she looked at me.

“How can you be alright after going through something like that?”

“I’m really okay. Well… to be honest, I’m not completely okay, but I’ll get better gradually. If you hadn’t shown up then, it would have been really bad. I’m really grateful.”

The gratitude directed towards the wrong direction made me uncomfortable.

As I remained silent, the chairman spoke again.

“Bambi, you looked genuinely happy today. How was it really? Were you happy?”

“…I was very happy.”

“That’s a relief.”

I stared at her brightly smiling face and then lowered my head.

I couldn’t bring myself to ask if she wanted to abandon me now.

I was afraid of hearing a positive answer.
