Chapter 229: Blood, Order, and Chaos II
[Alert: Due to the interference of a foreign entity, Memory Piece has broken down.]
[Information: The system requires a few minutes to fix all the damage on the Memory Piece before playing could be resumed.]
[Information: An additional incognito feature and vanguard would be added in order to shield the events from being cancelled once again. This will cost some of the Chaos Points earned by now.]
These were the notifications that came out as soon as Zeke sprang up from his bed. He felt his whole body sore and, for some reason, there was a lingering sensation all over his body. One which put it on high alert as the enemy may still be looking at him.
"How the hell was that even possible?" Zeke thought as he remembered everything clearly. How he unmistakably saw the [Monarch of Order] named Jean look at him.
Although this was an unfortunate event, Zeke was still able to get something out of it. Namely, the knowledge of their enemies being called [Monarchs] and that, there are two types of these. With one being present within Mythos to a certain extent as Pier was manipulating it.
Instead of brooding over what Jean did, Zeke began putting the piece together based on what he already knew.
"There's probably someone on the Chaos Faction who has the same skill. I believe that Paimon fellow would be a perfect fit based on how the general and the informant spoke of him."
The gamer looked at the timer on the repair. He planned to go back as soon as it finished but his stomach began grumbling. Making the gamer fetch a quick snack from the pantry while he continued thinking about the details.
"Another thing that's notable about the other [Monarch of Chaos] mentioned was that, he also had Chaos Sight." Zeke said as he sliced some meat and cooked it with the flames of the [Fire God].
"Allesiah's version is probably on the initial levels compared to that." He furthered as he went back to his room. He didn't want to get delayed by anyone suddenly entering the area because he still needed to finish the [Memory Piece].
"Now what I need to know is just how many of these [Monarchs] exist. How they gain their powers and, who among them have entered Mythos."
Zeke had no control over where the [Memory Piece] would take him. Hence, he needed to observe carefully and watch every word being uttered as well as every motion being made. This was the only way for him to gain more from the limitations of his [Quest reward]. One which finally gave updates that popped up in front of Zeke.
[Notice: The necessary repairs have been made.]
[Notice: The additional safeguards have been placed over the said "Memory Piece"]
[Notice: In order to avoid any sudden interference once again, no data will be shown about the Monarch name Jean.]
"Well that's a relief. At least I'm sure that I won't be going back there anymore." The gamer thought to himself as he lay on his bed. Closing his eyes and falling to sleep immediately.
[Notice: Due to the deletion of the Monarch Jean from the "Memory Piece", compensating shards have been added. Continuing from the save point will transport the gamer to the next part of the Memory.]
[Will you proceed?]
[Yes/No]
[Yes.]
[Understood…]
[Synchronizing data together with the System Updates…]
[Please wait for a few seconds…]
[The events on the Memory Piece will now continue.]
…
Zeke was back to a scene of battle once again. Yet this time he was overlooking the whole scene on the top of a hill; with the focus being on the general of the [Chaos] faction.
This time however, the said general was riding on a black mount that seemed like a combination of a dragon and a horse. With its frame being similar to that of the aforementioned creature while scales, wings and the tail of a dragon were also on it.
The general looked at the scenery before him with a displeased expression. One which Zeke understood why as he also shifted his gaze to the same direction. He didn't know the amount of time that has passed on the fight but, the barrier was still up. The same one set up by Selena whom the enemies referred to as the [Immortal Witch].
[Choose which location you wish to be placed on.]
[Alongside the general]
[The frontlines of the battle]
Zeke chose the latter of the two. It was the first time that such a notification showed up. Something which was convenient for Zeke who was curious about the general's temperament.
A pile of corpses mounted up just outside the barrier. This was a collection of all the soldiers who have fallen from the fight. The gamer witnessed how this happened as, soldiers from the faction of both [Chaos] and [Order] tried to climb these, only to fail as they get shot down by artillery forces of the monsters.
It was a well-orchestrated attack. One which made use of the numbers of the enemies to their advantage. However, this didn't stop most of the soldiers from being able to pass through. With the footmen exploding as soon as they came in contact with the barrier. Meanwhile, there were also long range units. Catapults, mages, and dragons. All attacking the barrier from a distance.
Zeke heard the earth tremble from every attack. In fact, he could even hear a certain level of cracking on the barrier while this went on. Yet, the monsters weren't fazed and the gamer knew why.
"Hold your ground men! It won't be long before our king recovers completely!"
Aeros stood at the entrance of this area, just a few centimeters away from the barrier itself. His gigantic claymore had its tip touching the ground while its hilt was being held at the palm of the seven horned. Aeros seemed to be there to boost the morale of those fighting in the front lines while also making the opponents weary of his presence.
While this occurred, Zeke saw a soldier run up to the [Chaos General]. Hence the gamer decided to change location once again. Returning to the side of the said individual who immediately spoke.
"Can you please explain to me why it's taking us such a long time to destroy that barrier?" The chaos general commented. With his impatience clearly manifesting from the tone of his voice.
"It's no use sir. Their mages and archers are firing on our men – decreasing our forces which has the same effect on the amount of damage we continually make."
At this, the general gave a stern look to the soldier. He went down his mount and proceeded to walk near the reporting soldier.
It was evident that he was going to get punched. The [Chaos General] even made a huge wind up in order for the soldier to know what would come next. But, the soldier didn't dare move. The implication of the actions was evident to the gamer.
Zeke somehow knew that, if the soldier dodged or tried to move away then execution may follow. This was the only reasonable explanation as to why a soldier would stay as he was on that situation. And, knowing this, the [Chaos General] made sure that all his intentions would be figure out. Sending scenarios to the head of the poor soldier before the hit was even made.
"Grit your teeth." The [Chaos General] ordered. The only action which the soldier ever made as the punch finally came.
It was in no way a weak blow. The soldier was dropped to the ground as the front of his face received the full impact of the punch. With blood coming out of his nose soon after as he stayed where he was. However, the punishment didn't end here as the general kicked the face of the soldier; with blood being sprayed on the ground.
"Do you take me for a fool?" The general said, sounding near a point of rage.
"I-I am sorry sir." The soldier said in reply. Shaky in his voice as the sensation of pain gave him this instinctive response.
"No you are not. Being apologetic could only happen if you know what you are saying sorry for." The [Chaos General] continued; adding to the punishment dealt. This time kicking the face of the solider once again which began showing discoloration of violet hues.
"Let me make this clear. We were told of how some resistance may be put up by the enemies. We all were even before this mission began!"
"What I'm asking you is why three hours from the estimated time have already passed and yet we have yet to clear our objective!" The [Chaos General] kicked the soldier three more times before he was finally satisfied.
"I-I am sorry sir." The soldier repeated.
"Ahh now that is a proper apology." Was all that the [Chaos General] said as he looked at the mission once again. Giving the soldier a few seconds to get back up before issuing his orders.
"Tell our men that backing away is not an option. If those bloody monsters could last this long in the defensive then we'll just keep pressing them with force until they break."
"Understood sir." The soldier said in reply. As if the whole painful ordeal did not even occur.
"Master Vask will have the head of that self-proclaimed king served on a platter."
