Chapter 225: The Blood King
The power-hungry halberd of the blood king sucked up everything that it could with the [Chaos Warlock] Chie'ron. It was glowing in its crimson red color as it devoured even the [Chaos Energy] of the monster. Something which Zeke found to be strange because, the weapon wasn't supposed to be familiar with this energy type.
"Well if it could get even more powerful from that I have nothing to complain about." The gamer simply said as he watched the halberd continue on its feast.
In fact, it didn't even end there as the weapon floated and thrusted itself deep within Drakhal's body. That was how hungry the weapon was, with an insatiable thirst that could never be quenched. Yet, it still ended automatically as soon as all possible energy source got sucked up.
With Zeke turning back to his normal form. Without any injury being sustained as, the [Curse of the Blood King] even devoured its host's wounds.
"I think my work here is done." Zeke simply commented as he stretched his neck – surveying the area and finding nothing else but the slowly disintegrating corpses of the [Chaos Monsters] and the ruin that came with his assault.
Along with this, his [Empty Chaos Crystals] also began extracting all the [Chaos Energy] within the area. While this occurred, Zeke received multiple notifications, giving him rewards which weren't part of any mission hat he currently had.
[Information: You have cleared the hidden quest: Recognition of the Blood King]
[Generating the appropriate rewards for the quest. Please wait…]
…
[A Memory Piece will be given as a reward.]
[Skills of the Blood King will be available after using the Memory Piece.]
[The Memory Piece recently obtained is connected to the one which has not yet been played. The two Memory Pieces will be merged into one playable Memory Piece]
[Use it now?]
This was the first set of rewards that came with Zeke finishing off his opponents. As the gamer expected, making them talk gave him some benefits from the [System]. Yet, he didn't expect it to be this grand.
"How are the blood king's skills different exactly?" Zeke thought to himself.
Of course the [System] itself does not have the data on this yet. Even with Zeke clicking on the words [Blood King Skills], nothing comes up. This means that, watching the Memory Piece would be like putting the [System] through patch and updates once again. With things being added right after.
Aside from this, there was another reward that came. Zeke opened the notification immediately to show something connected to the Blood King's weapon.
[Information: The halberd of the Blood King has been satiated.]
[Information: The requirement has been met for the weapon to evolve.]
[Information: The weapon cannot be hindered from evolving. During this interval the skill "Curse of the Blood King" will be momentarily unavailable.]
[Information: Upon completion, the halberd will require at least 300 bodies worth of sacrifice in order to stop its initial hunger after the evolution.]
[Information: There is no timer that would count down the length of evolution as the speed is greatly dependent on the one wielding the weapon.]
"What the heck is this supposed to be?" Zeke said in surprise.
He never imagined the halberd to have something like this. In fact, nothing ever came up whenever he [Analyzed] it that, he thought it was simply a weapon that came with the skill. Yet he was proven wrong at that point. With the notifications telling him of an evolution that the weapon itself will undergo.
"Well it's not like I'm complaining. Having the skill unavailable might prove to be troublesome later on." Zeke said thinking just how he could avoid dying when he comes face to face with Pier.
It wasn't like Zeke didn't have a countermeasure prepared for it. In fact, Zeke was already thinking up of ways to fill in on this sudden hole on his defensive abilities. For him, there was no point in sulking and, it would even be a waste of his time. With this decision was also his choice of not playing the new [Memory Piece] for the moment.
"I need to check the areas first and then I'll proceed to doing this." Zeke told himself, as he focused on the remaining corpses of the one horned monsters up to the five horned ones.
It was a shame that he couldn't [Conjure] them but, the gamer could do nothing against the forces of this world. Hence, he simply sucked up all the remaining [Chaos Energy] on the area, returning the crystals back to normal as the area was cleared of both the monsters and the condensed amount of [Chaos Energy] circulating around it.
"I'm sure Pier would've felt me doing this at the very least." Zeke thought to himself, knowing that an area being deprived of the said energy type so suddenly was difficult to conceal.
"Well it's not like I can do anything about it. This is part of the mission after all." The gamer continued as he held the [Chaos Crystals] on his hands. Using [Analysis] immediately as, it was his first time encountering the said type of material.
[Name: Chaos Crystal]
[Item Type: Crystal]
[Grade: S]
[Information: There are multiple uses to the Chaos Crystal. Aside from the fact that it holds an incredible amount of Chaos Energy within it, meeting a certain set of requirements would allow the summoning of Chaos Monsters.]
[Information: The material could also be used in order to forge various items and equipment.]
[Information: There are further applications that could be done with the material.]
"Well that's just neat now isn't it?" Zeke commented as he removed his earlier idea of selling the item right away. In fact, he was already thinking of integrating it to [Death's Void]. Aside from this, he was also thinking of how his [Conjures] would be able to handle the material as there was no way to corrupt his summons.
"I should begin forging as soon as we return to base." Zeke thought to himself as he opened the [Progress Bar] of the tracking on both [Quinn] and [Pier].
"For now, I should focus on finding these two." He thought to himself, finally leaving the area and returning to place where he initially was. Safe from any fighting and completely hidden within a casted [Cloud of Dreams].
Upon updating the search, he found out that [80%] of it was already cleared. At this pacing it was only a matter of time before he finished in Helios. Yet, nothing has added to his inquiries on the whereabouts of the two individuals he was looking for. Nevertheless, the gamer didn't lose hope.
"I may hit something with the remaining 20% so I should stay here." Zeke said, crossing his legs as he sat on the ground. With his chin resting on his fist as the elbow was rested on his leg.
With all the events that were piling up, Zeke didn't know where the [Blood King] fitted in the great scheme of things. In fact, all the pieces were actually in their proper pplace already and Zeke only needed to clear all the conditions in order to do two things.
One was to send the elites home by killing Glade. And two was for him to enter the heavenly realm after defeating Pier and whatever it was that was residing within Quinn. Everything else would naturally follow after this as Zeke already had a way to kill off at least one god before biting the dust.
Yet, in order to do this, he needed the [Curse of the Blood King]. Making the gamer brood over the details of the rewards once again. One which gave him a hint on Chaos and the Blood King being related somehow.
"I hope that this blood king business is in my favor. Otherwise, I may need to sell the skill altogether." Zeke thought as he watched the progress of his [Conjures] on his [Minimap]. With the numbers on the progress bar steadily increasing.
"Well there are other revival skills on the shop but I doubt anything would be as useful as the form that came with this skill." The gamer continued brooding over it, with the progress finally hitting [90%].
Zeke stayed as he was for another thirty minutes. There was much confusion that surrounded his recent quest rewards but he accepted this gladly. He thought of how it was a [DLC] that developers would develop to a game that was already completed. One which was supposed to make things even more exciting and, more often than not, the developers do succeed in doing this.
Thus, the gamer had a new goal which he needed to accomplish. Aside from the ones already mentioned, he was planning to look up on the history of the blood king. How this person was related to [Chaos] and, what implication this would have for him who wielded the skill.
"Are you or are you not the blood king?" the words of Drakhal rang clearly on his head, sounding as clear as when the monster uttered it. Of course Zeke was still sure that he was himself and had no influence of this entity over him. But, he also thought about how this may change soon.
[Notice: The progress has reached 100%]
[Results: No data has been found on both Quinn and Pier.]
"Okay, I guess that takes care of that." Zeke mentioned as the notifications took him out of his train of thought.
The gamer brushed off the dust on his pants as he stood up. Looking back, there was never a moment on Mythos that went completely as he expected them to. And this [Blood King] incident is no different.
"The only choice I have is to continue moving forward." Zeke said, with his usual carefree smile. Clicking on the teleport button which sent him back to the base.
