Chapter 205: Chaos Singularity
There was only a single thing which Quinn was worried about when the fight began. It was that, the creatures bearing five horns seemed not to care much about him. In fact, they had a strange calmness on their expressions which suggested that they could handle the enemy perfectly fine. Something which Quinn found to be unsettling as he began attacking.
He began by battling the three and four horned monsters. There was small variety to them but, nevertheless their skills were easy to identify. One type of four horned stomped the ground and created an area where spikes came up.
Quinn was able to easily dodge this but, because there were five of these creatures, the spikes continued firing up and at large areas. Forcing Quinn to continue moving so as to not get caught within the area of effect.
However, this didn't come without any consequence. The other four horned creatures fired long ranged waves of blade attacks at him. Generating [Chaos Energy] which Vask warned Quinn to not get hit with. Aside from this, there was another type of long ranged unit which made use of feathers being fired from its back.
Over and over again, Quinn needed to dodge. Without finding any momentum nor opening to go on the offensive. And he was successful in doing this, that is, until the feather user called back its deployed projectiles.
This caught Quinn by surprise, finally tipping him off his game as the spikes and the wave almost found their way to hit him. Fortunately for Quinn, he had [Overdrive] which he used at that moment. Dodging by throwing one of the swords at the four horns and activating [Weapon Blink].
It was his turn to surprise them this time around as he was prepared to release a strike. Yet, a projectile shot at him. Destroying the barrier he set up as the elite found himself flung in mid-air.
As soon as he dropped to the ground, he saw the blade of a five horned releasing smoke. Entailing that, it was this creature which fired at him. Causing Quinn to be on an even higher alert as, the enemy was able to see though his [Overdrive].
"Damn, I knew they were trouble." Quinn thought to himself. Looking at the five horned enemies which still had dull expressions on their faces.
As said, these creatures were of high intellect and could even communicate properly. However, they found no reason to do so. They have just woken up after all and, killing the threat seemed to be a wiser choice than to speak with it. Meanwhile this same threat decided to focus on the weaker monsters; the remaining three-horneds.
Among the remaining enemies, these were the heavily damaged. Meaning they were also the ones which could be easily depleted. But as he went and aimed for them, the attacks also followed. Stopping Quinn who was forced to back away.
He then tried the same stunt. Throwing his sword while he went and got a new pair; intending to [Blink] right away. Yet this was a futile attempt as another five horned beast created a kind of barrier which deflected the sword; flinging it back to Quinn.
"They're learning fast. Better kill them while you still have the chance." Vask commented, looking at the fight and seeing the huge disadvantage of Quinn.
"Yeah that's easy for you to say, mister almighty ruler of space." Quinn commented jokingly as Vask continued watching over the elite.
He was deciding whether or not the switch was even required anymore. With the skill set of Quinn, Vask knew that the human had a chance of winning. But he didn't have the vast amount of battle strategies which the [Monarch] does and so, Vask thought that this would be too much to expect from a mere human.
"You know we can switch now. We still need to catch up to Pier after all." Vask said which surprised Quinn who was still doing his best to dodges as he continued cooking up a strategy.
"Yeah I think that won't be needed. I'm still alive aren't I? it would be a shame if I didn't make use of everything I know in this fight." Quinn simply said, with the monarch respecting his decision and watching idly once again.
All Quinn's ultimate leveled skills causes some damage to him. Yet if used properly, he could turn the tides in his favor as he consumes whatever enemy he defeats. It was a high risk move but something worth the gamble.
With this in mind, Quinn used a set of skills once again beginning with Jake's [Impale]. The spears rained down as Quinn continued to casting [Valley of Spears]. This caught the three and four horns by surprise as they were inevitably caught in the middle of the onslaught. Yet, Quinn didn't stop here as he casted amplify. Allowing the attack to be thrice as potent than they already were.
With this the favor was shifted back to Quinn who was finally able to make the five horns move. No matter how dignified they may seem, they have no choice but to dodge if the whole area is covered with and [AoE] attack. And just as Quinn expected, they went and attacked him.
However Quinn was prepared even with this kind of move. In fact, he already had the whole plan sorted out like a master tactician. He activated [Oblivion] and added the force of Kaguya's secondary job class. Placing a [Multiplier] over oblivion that created one at the bottom while the other one remained at the top.
The five horns were effectively stuck in the middle of the skill. Floating as their bodies were being pulled from both sides. Then there were the four and three horned beasts that were still caught up with [Impale] and [Valley of Spears]. None of them could attack Quinn at that moment, leaving the elite enough room to charge his other ace skill.
"Hey that's not gonna work on them you know. They could survive through [Calamity]." Vask adviced which Quinn didn't seem to hear as he continued charging the skill. And, it was at this point that Vask understood the difference in the skill being used.
Quinn was not releasing mana. No. He was releasing [Chaos Energy] all being used up by the sword he had on his hand. It was a faulty experiment yet; Quinn was able to keep the move charging up [Chaos]. The [Monarch] got entertained yet again, seeing his host evolve even more.
Vask knew how dangerous the move would be for Quinn. In fact, it was probably an instant death skill for whoever mortal was stupid enough to release that much [Chaos Energy] at once. Yet Vask didn't worry because his own [Chaos Energy] was completely restored. Allowing him to heal Quinn through whatever idiotic move he was about to use.
"I'm just going to add this for good measure." The [Monarch of Chaos] thought to himself as the markings appeared on the arms of Quinn.
Every part of this sequence was already mapped out on Quinn's head. He was counting down on the charging needed and the amount of mana he had left before all the [Aoe] skills he casted gets halted.
Thirty seconds.
This was all that was left and throughout this short amount of time, the monsters tried their best to get away. Yet with Quinn pouring out every ounce of his mana to adding more force to his spells, they weren't able to do as they wished no matter how hard they tried.
Vask could see the energy of chaos raging out of Quinn's body and toward the sword. He could see how unrefined the skill was but, it was nevertheless doable. A skill which still held to the concept used on the original [Singularity] while making use of a power source which the human was yet to even fully comprehend.
"If this fails, I think you'll need to take over." Quinn said to Vask as the skill was finally complete, with five seconds being left on the [AoE] skills.
"Oh I doubt that would be necessary." Vask simply commented as the seconds passed quickly; releasing the monsters as Quinn casted:
"Chaos Singularity."
The silence that came wasn't the same as before. It was deadly, one which could be described as nothing less than haunting. Within these few seconds, the slash silently swept over all of Quinn's enemies. Cutting them in half without even any resistance from the beasts as the skill froze them in fear.
Meanwhile, Quinn felt his whole body seemingly drain with life force as he slumped to the ground. Hearing Vask roaring in laughter as the black flames soon came after to heal him.
"You bloody bastard! You actually did it!" He said as it was only him who actually saw the state of Quinn's body.
The new singularity didn't only cut front but, within a full circle. Meaning, even Quinn's body was cut in half by his own skill. Yet the events were too quick and he was too drained to even feel the pain as he was numb all over.
"Take a rest for now kid. I'll handle the rest." Vask furthered as the elite began losing consciousness.
