Chapter 30: Chapter 30 Spending Points

Thursday, 31 October

Daniel woke up early as usual. The morning air brushed against his skin as he went through his routine, and when he finally made his way down to the common room, a thought echoed in his mind. 'It's getting harder and harder to gain stats,' he mused as he stared at his stats window.

'I hit 100 Wisdom almost two weeks ago, and I've only gained 5 stats since then,' he thought, feeling a little frustrated. He glanced at the skill he had unlocked from hitting 100 Wisdom.

[High-Speed Thought Processing (Passive) Lvl Max]

[- Greatly increases the user's thinking speed, allowing for faster information processing.]

He shook his head, letting out a frustrated sigh. 'I need to stop obsessing over this.' After a moment of contemplation, he made up his mind. 'Fuck it, I'll add stat points to everything below 100 to unlock the skills.'

With this sudden though, Daniel started pouring stat points into Strength, Agility, Vitality, Charisma, and Luck, bringing them all up to 100. As soon as he finished, a strange sensation swept over him. It wasn't painful, but it felt like his entire body was melting. It was oddly pleasant, almost addictive.

The sensation passed after a few moments, leaving Daniel a little breathless, but smiling. His fingers hovered over the screen as a wave of notifications appeared.

[Strength has reached 100! You have gained the skill: [Troll's Strength (Passive)] ]

[Agility has reached 100! You have gained the skill: [Light Walk (Passive)] ]

[Charisma has reached 100! You have gained the skill: [Silver Tongue (Passive)] ]

[Luck has reached 100! You have gained the skill: [Fortuitous Encounter (Passive)] ]

'Nice,' he thought, feeling a rush of excitement. He opened his skills window and started reviewing the descriptions.

[Troll's Strength (Passive) Lvl Max]

[- Your physical strength has surpassed human limits.

- Boosts raw power, allowing you to lift, throw, and strike with overwhelming force.]

[Iron Body (Passive) Lvl Max]

[- Increases resistance to physical attacks.]

[Light Walk (Passive) Lvl Max]

[- The user moves silently and lightly, almost gliding over surfaces.]

[Silver Tongue (Passive) Lvl Max]

[- Boosts the user's ability to persuade and influence others.]

[Fortuitous Encounter (Passive) Lvl Max]

[- Increases the chance of beneficial outcomes in random events.]

'Hmm, some of these skills seem lackluster compared to the Intelligence one,' he though to himself, but quickly shrugged it off. It wasn't worth getting worked up over.

Just as he was about to close the windows, an unexpected sharp pain suddenly radiated through his chest. His eyes widened as a notification popped up.

[The user's stats have all reached 100 or above. Prepare for evolution.]

His heart raced, and panic flared briefly in his chest. 'What does that mean?' But then, the familiar calmness of Gamer's Mind settled over him, helping him think clearly.

He quickly stood up from the chair in the common room and left, trying not to draw attention to himself. After a few moments of searching, he found a secluded spot in the castle, a perfect place to undergo whatever change was coming.

Just as he entered the Empty ID, a sharp, searing pain gripped his entire body, as if he was being torn apart from the inside out. He gritted his teeth, but the pain only lasted about ten seconds, just long enough to make him feel like he was going to pass out.

When the sensation faded, he stood there, panting, his body now humming with a newfound power.

[Congratulations! The user has become a High-Human.]

Daniel blinked, staring down at his hands. They looked the same as before, yet somehow... different. A subtle sense of strength pulsed through him, though he couldn't spot any obvious physical changes.

He left the Empty ID and made his way to the nearest bathroom, eager to check his reflection.

'I don't look different...' he thought, a sense of relief flooding him as he studied his face in the mirror. 'Maybe my features are a little sharper, but that's about it.'

Curious, he opened his stats window again to check for any changes there.

Daniel's eyes widened. 'Holy shit, my MP doubled!' he thought, shocked by the sudden increase. 'I didn't even put points into Intelligence or Wisdom, so it must be from the new race.'

He closed the window, still processing the change. With a sigh, he left the bathroom and headed back to the common room, but it was empty. Without thinking much about it, he made his way to the Great Hall.

As soon as he walked in, a flood of new sensations hit him. He could hear the conversations of students across the room as if they were standing right next to him. The scents in the air were more vivid, more distinct. 'Now that I think about it... my vision's clearer too,' he realized, scanning the room with ease.

'Must be another advantage of my new race,' he mused, making his way over to his friends.

"Where were you?" Michael asked, looking up from his plate. His tone was casual. "We thought you'd be here when we couldn't find you in the common room or dorm."

Daniel shrugged. "I was in the toilet," he replied nonchalantly, giving nothing away.

Michael didn't press further, and the rest of the day went by without incident. Finally, the evening came, and the Halloween feast was about to begin.
