Chapter 24: Chapter 24 Transfiguration
After finishing their meals, Daniel and his friends got up and headed toward the Transfiguration classroom. The heavy wooden door swung open with a soft creak, revealing a room that felt simple and practical.. Stone walls lined with tall windows let in soft, natural light. Rows of wooden desks were neatly arranged throughout the room, and books, quills, and a few enchanted objects were scattered around. At the front, a blackboard stood ready, with Professor McGonagall's desk nearby, on which a cat sat, casually watching them as they walked in.
Daniel's curiosity piqued as he caught sight of the cat. 'I wonder what animal I'd be if I became an Animagus,' he mused to himself, his eyes lingering on the feline as it blinked back at him.
"What's with the cat?" Anthony whispered, his eyes narrowing in curiosity.
"I don't know, but it could be the professor's," Daniel replied with a shrug, making his way toward the middle row to sit beside Michael.
Just as it was time for the class to begin, the door swung open. However, it wasn't Professor McGonagall who entered, it was two students, looking flustered and out of breath.
"I told you we'd make it in time," one of them said with a grin, though it was clear they were trying to cover up the fact they had barely made it.
The other nodded, and just as the students entered, the cat on the desk shifted, its body contorting and twisting in the blink of an eye, until, standing there before them, was Professor McGonagall herself. The transformation was so swift and smooth that it left everyone momentarily stunned, and it certainly didn't help the two late students, who now looked pale and wide-eyed.
The class erupted into a murmur of excitement, while the two students stood frozen in horror.
"Would we be able to do that too?" Terry asked eagerly, eyes wide with excitement.
Professor McGonagall fixed him with a sharp gaze, the corners of her lips barely twitching as she replied, "You could, but you'd need to be older, and register with the Ministry. It's called Animagus Transformation, and it's illegal to do it without being registered." Her voice left no room for argument.
Turning to the latecomers, she raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley, perhaps I should transfigure you into a clock so you won't be late next time?"
The two students quickly mumbled, "We're sorry, Professor McGonagall."
Professor McGonagall nodded briskly. "Go sit," she instructed, then turned back to the class. "I am Professor McGonagall, and I will be teaching you Transfiguration."
With a glance toward the blackboard, she began explaining how Transfiguration was an incredibly difficult and dangerous subject, requiring immense concentration and precision. As she spoke, she demonstrated by transfiguring her desk into a small, oinking pig and back into its original form, impressing the students. The room filled with awed gasps.
"Now, for your first attempt," she said, her tone cutting through the chatter. "You must transfigure a matchstick into a needle."
With a flick of her wand, she levitated a matchstick to each student, and Daniel immediately focused on his task. 'Should I go simple with a plain needle or add a little flair?' he thought for a moment. He knew he could do both, but wasn't sure if he should go all out on his first attempt. 'Keeping it simple seems like the right choice for now.'
He waved his wand with a practiced motion, focusing on the matchstick and visualizing it transforming into a needle. The matchstick shifted, and within seconds, a needle lay neatly in front of him. 'Smooth,' Daniel thought, feeling a surge of satisfaction. 'The practice at the orphanage had definitely paid off.'
As Professor McGonagall passed by, she paused at his desk. Her eyes flicked to the needle, then back to Daniel with a slight nod. "Impressive. Five points for Ravenclaw. Now, try to add more detail to your work," she said before moving on to another student.
Daniel didn't waste time. He set to work on the details, but just as he was about to concentrate, he felt a sharp gaze boring into him from across the room. He glanced up and caught sight of Hermione staring at him with what could only be described as a competitive fire in her eyes.
'Oh no, please don't tell me she's going to make this into some sort of rivalry,' Daniel thought, rolling his eyes internally.
By the time the lesson ended, Daniel had earned a couple more points for the additional details on his needle. No one else had managed to fully transfigure their matchstick into a complete needle, though a few had come close.
As the students shuffled out of the classroom, Daniel was stopped by Hermione, who had a determined look on her face.
"You won this time, Daniel," she said, "but we'll see if you can win in the next lesson." With that, she turned and left.
Anthony raised an eyebrow as he watched her go. "You know her?"
"We met on the train," Daniel replied casually, then added, "but didn't really talk after that."
Terry grinned mischievously. "Hmm, looks like someone's got a little competition," he said, nudging Daniel with his elbow.
Daniel chuckled and shook his head.
They made their way to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, chatting and laughing as they went.
The rest of the day was relatively uneventful. After DADA, Daniel spent some time in the dungeon and then headed to the common room to study.
The next day began with Potions and Charms, which went similarly to the first time, except for the new skill he gained during Charms class. He didn't check it right away, though, waiting until lunch when he had a bit more time.

'Could I teach someone my Gamer's Body or maybe Singularity skills?' he thought, tapping his fingers against the edge of his plate. 'Maybe if I level it up to the max level or evolve it somehow?'
With a shrug, he pushed the thought aside and finished his meal. He was already looking forward to the flying lesson ahead, and the rest of the day would be free.
The first flying lesson came up quickly, and Daniel found himself standing near the Quidditch pitch, where Madame Hooch was already waiting. She looked strict, her posture focused as she stood, ready to begin the class.
"Good afternoon, everyone," she said in a brisk voice. "My name is Rolanda Hooch, and I'm your flying instructor." She wasted no time. "Now, get beside a broom and say 'Up!' loud and confident."
Daniel followed the rest of the students toward the brooms and said, "Up!" without hesitation. To his satisfaction, the broom shot into his hand on the first try. He grinned, feeling a rush of pride. 'Nice, first try. Maybe I'll join the Quidditch team,' he thought, but then quickly shook his head 'Nah'.
As the rest of the students managed to get their brooms into their hands, Madame Hooch called out, "Now, carefully sit on the broom and push off with your legs."
Daniel followed the instructions, feeling himself rise gently into the air. 'This is awesome,' he thought, tempted to shoot forward, but then heard Madame Hooch's sharp voice.
"Don't even think about it," she snapped, glancing at the students floating on their brooms. "We're not flying yet."
The lesson progressed slowly, with the students practicing flying in slow circles and gradually moving up and down. By the end of the session, Daniel had earned a new skill.
