Chapter 552 - 550 The Favored Disciple

Chapter 552: Chapter 550 The Favored Disciple

Master Huang was escorted out by the brothers Dong Shi and Dong Li.

His hair was half-white, his complexion pale, and his steps unsteady, with a trace of cold sweat on his forehead.

Although Jiang Feng did not know Master Huang, he knew Dong Shi and Dong Li. Seeing the situation, he was startled and quickly went up to them, took over the luggage, and asked with concern, “What’s wrong with Master Huang, do you have airsickness?”

“I’m fine,” Master Huang said weakly, waving his hand, “It’s just that I felt a bit dizzy and nauseous when the plane was descending. I just need to rest and drink some water, and I’ll be better.”

Jiang Feng quickly went to get water for Master Huang. Ji Xia had been chatting his ear off about the Spring Festival, and he had bought water for her when she was feeling thirsty. He also bought a bottle for himself, which he hadn’t opened yet.

After drinking half a bottle of water, Master Huang’s complexion improved a bit, but he was still somewhat unsteady and needed the support of Dong Shi and Dong Li.

“It seems that Master Huang’s airsickness is quite severe, should I go buy some medicine for him?” Jiang Feng asked.

“It’s not airsickness,” Dong Shi said, looking troubled, “He’s afraid of heights.”

Jiang Feng & Wu Minqi: ???

“If he’s afraid of heights, why did you still book a flight?” Wu Minqi looked at Dong Shi with a hint of reproach in her eyes.

Dong Shi: “… Master only realized he was afraid of heights after getting on the plane.”

Everyone: …

Master Huang sighed softly, “Ah, I’m getting old and can’t keep up with the times. When I was young, I never thought that one day I would be able to travel by plane.”

Dong Li was supporting Master Huang and did not forget to tease, “Master, I told you not to look outside the window. You insisted on looking out when the plane was landing. Your seat wasn’t even next to the window, you leaned over me to see.”

Master Huang coughed awkwardly. If he had the strength, he would definitely have smacked Dong Li on the head for him to stop talking, “It’s all because of what Master Zheng said, claiming that the view is the most beautiful during take-off and landing. I didn’t see anything beautiful; it just made me dizzy and nauseous.”

“Of course, you’re going to feel sick looking down from such a height if you’re afraid of heights,” Dong Li continued to tease.

“Shut up.”

Although Master Huang sounded quite energetic when he spoke, his whole demeanor was still sickly and lacking in energy. Jiang Feng had originally planned to take Master Huang to a new vegetarian restaurant that opened a few months ago for some light, vegetarian food. Seeing Master Huang like this, he guessed that they probably wouldn’t be able to go.

“Boss, we’re going to take our master back to rest first. We can talk about anything tonight or tomorrow, is that okay with you?” Dong Shi asked.

“Of course, let Master Huang rest well first. We can talk whenever he’s rested, there’s no rush,” Jiang Feng hurriedly said, “You two can also come later in the afternoon, just arrive before three o’clock.”

“Thank you, boss,” Dong Shi thanked Jiang Feng, and together with Dong Li, they helped Master Huang catch a ride back home with the luggage.

Jiang Feng called the vegetarian restaurant to cancel the reservation. He had booked the vegetarian restaurant considering the fact that Master Huang was of an advanced age and had just gotten off the plane, and might not be up for eating meaty or heavy foods. Now that Master Huang was going back to rest because of his fear of heights, the three of them, who were all meat-eaters, didn’t need to go to the vegetarian restaurant either.

“Master, are we still having lunch?” Ji Xia felt her feast might be gone.

“We are,” Jiang Feng said.

Lunch was definitely still on. He hadn’t eaten anything since morning.

“Qiqi, how about we go to He Yueru’s shop for some fired buns?” Jiang Feng suggested. “Her shop is close to the subway entrance, so we can go back, put our luggage away, and then go for the fired buns.”

“Mhm.” Wu Minqi had no objections.

On the way back, Jiang Feng briefly explained the recent challenges Taifeng Building was facing and that they may encounter severe challenges in the near future. Wu Minqi’s reaction was the same as when she heard about Master Huang’s issues; she simply nodded and responded with an “Mhm,” showing she understood without expressing any particular surprise or emotion.

Wu Minqi was now worried about something else.

With so many jars of pickles packed in one suitcase, it was inevitable they would get jostled during the journey. The jars were only wrapped with cloth or plastic paper, and Wu Minqi was concerned they might end up broken inside the suitcase.

The first thing Wu Minqi did after entering her home was to open the suitcase to check on the pickles. Fortunately, they’d all shown strong survival instincts and each jar was intact.

Wu Minqi took the jars of pickles out of the suitcase one by one to place them on the cupboard, planning to go out to eat once she was done. Ji Xia watched with great interest as she unpacked the jars.

“Wu, can the stuff in these jars be eaten directly?” Ji Xia asked.

“Of course, Xiaxia, do you want to try?” asked Wu Minqi with a smile.

Ji Xia nodded, and Wu Minqi handed over a jar of pickles she was holding, “Then you take this jar of pickles, Xiaxia. Try it to see if you like it; if so, you can take it home to eat.”

Ji Xia took the pickles, twisted off the lid, carefully picked around inside, and finally pinched the smallest piece she could see that was sticking out and popped it into her mouth.

“Cough, cough, cough, cough, cough!” The next second, Ji Xia was nearly coughing up a lung, with tears and snot streaming down her face.

Jiang Feng, who had been crouching on the ground feasting on pickles, was startled and looked up to see the tiny chili stem Ji Xia was holding in her right hand.

Jiang Feng: …

True to my disciple, eating the chili first when having pickles.

The aftereffect of consuming a small pickled chili was quite terrifying – Ji Xia’s tears wouldn’t stop coming out all the way until they got out of the elevator. She was sniffling constantly and didn’t dare breathe heavily or speak loudly. It seemed as if any slight exertion would send the spiciness swirling up her throat.

Ji Xia followed behind Jiang Feng, sniffing and wiping tears, looking like a child just scolded by parents.

“Do you want some milk tea, Xiaxia?” Wu Minqi was somewhat worried; she hadn’t expected Ji Xia to have such a reaction to eating a single pickled chili. It was exactly like the time her own Fengfeng ate rabbit heads—these master and disciple were truly cut from the same cloth.

“Yes,” Ji Xia sniffled, “Wu, I want brown sugar cocoa, with pearls, coconut jelly, taro balls, and pudding.”

Jiang Feng: ???

You might as well be spiced to death.

In the end, Ji Xia succeeded in getting some brown sugar cocoa, though without all the extra toppings—just pearls. Mainly because Jiang Feng only agreed to buy her a small cup; if all those add-ons were included, there would be no room left for the cocoa and brown sugar in the milk tea.

With small sips of milk tea and burping contentedly, Ji Xia followed Jiang Feng and Wu Minqi to He Yueru’s donkey meat bun shop for lunch.

If she still had room to eat, that is.
