Chapter 6: Chapter 6: The Professionals
Chapter 6: The Professionals
[Fang Yi]
Reincarnation Building: Novice Village (Level 1)
Corruption Sources: Vampire Baron, Wraith Sorceress
Players: 500
Reward Points: 6,865
Fang Yi looked at the rapidly increasing number of reward points and nodded in satisfaction.
In just two short days, this group of players had already earned him a considerable sum.
The silver-haired loli's cheeks were flushed red. Her hair was damp from a soak in the hot springs, and she tried to throw herself into Fang Yi's arms, only for him to grab her by the collar and fling her aside.
"Master, what's going on here?"
She stared at the screen, watching players hunt corrupted monsters with a puzzled expression. "Many of them haven't logged out for two whole days. They've been hunting non-stop. Don't they need to rest?"
The amount of Origin gathered in these two days might not be much compared to the methods of other World Wills—
But the strange part was—
Even with death penalties, most lifeforms tended to avoid conflict with corrupted monsters. At best, they only fought when absolutely forced.
But these players, once they overcame their initial confusion, were like starving wolves encountering a flock of sheep—hunting corrupted monsters non-stop.
Some even became so malnourished in the real world that they were forcibly logged out.
They were completely insane.
Fang Yi glanced at the loli with an expression that said you really don't know anything, and said, "Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine slaving away like a beast of burden, getting whipped, and having all your rewards taken by your master. You get leftovers to eat. Wouldn't you want to slack off?"
"But what if every time you killed a corrupted monster, you could watch your reward points drop straight into your own pocket and then exchange them for anything you wanted in the shop? Wouldn't you be motivated?"
The gu-raising model was like slavery—forcing people to work with an iron hand.
But history had long proven that such systems had inherent flaws—slaves would eventually revolt.
The silver-haired loli seemed to understand a little, finally grasping why Reincarnators would betray the World Will. "But... the pace of hunting corrupted monsters is still too slow. These players are too weak. Should we give them powerful weapons?"
"Idiot."
Fang Yi ruffled her damp hair. "If weapons and equipment are too easy to get, it'll kill the players' drive to hunt."
"Those cheap pay-to-win games that hand you a Dragon Slayer Sword right from the start, with flaming strikes and paralysis rings—it might be flashy, but most players quit not long after."
"But it can't be too hard either. If stuff like the Rinnegan or Wood Release costs hundreds of thousands of reward points, it'll feel hopeless, and players will burn out."
"That's why I've categorized all weapons, equipment, and skills by tier and level."
White, green, blue, purple, silver, gold, dark gold...
Fang Yi had it all planned. To exchange for items in the store, players needed more than just points. Just like in traditional MMOs, there were also level and gear requirements.
Only after reaching the required level could players equip gear or learn specific skills.
This would create a tiered system that constantly fueled the players' motivation to hunt corrupted monsters.
"Sounds impressive… but also a bit…"
The silver-haired loli didn't finish her sentence. World Wills had alignments too—orderly or chaotic.
Compared to the gu-raising model, this method had no death threats and operated subtly.
As a World Will leaning toward the benevolent side, she couldn't help but mourn a little for the players. Her master had bound them so tightly without them even noticing.
On the screen—
In the outskirts of the Death Soul Mountain Range, players weaved through ruined towns, battling wraiths.
"Asuma-sensei, have you considered our proposal?"
A young nobleman in a luxurious robe blocked the Konoha squad's path, his voice soft and refined.
Asuma shook his head. "Apologies. Without Lord Hokage's permission, we can't accept your request."
The man was a noble from the Land of Fire, a distant relative of the daimyo.
He already had several samurai players around him, forming a party. They let him land the killing blows to level up and earn reward points.
As compensation, the noble rewarded the samurai with generous payments in the real world.
"What a shame."
The noble was furious inside, but still maintained his grace, turning to leave with his group.
Asuma watched them go warily, then led the Konoha team back to hunting wraiths.
[You have reached Level 5. Would you like to accept a class advancement quest?]
A faint light appeared—
Hyūga Neji received a system prompt. Upon reaching Level 5, players could unlock a skill tree by completing a class quest.
"Class skills?"
Not one to keep secrets, Neji—driven by his desire to lift the Caged Bird Seal—had been grinding corrupted monsters relentlessly. He slept only four hours a day to stay ahead.
Knowing others would catch up soon, he organized his thoughts and informed Asuma about the class quest.
Asuma thought for a moment. "Class skills probably work like ninjutsu."
[Collect 20 Wraith Essences and 1 Wraith Guardian Core. Spend 1000 reward points to complete the random class advancement.]
"That's a steep requirement!"
Asuma frowned. "Wraith Guardians are powerful. One mistake and they can wipe us out."
In the Death Soul Mountain Range, wraiths were the weakest enemies.
Wraith Guardians were stronger, with powerful area attacks.
The Konoha squad had once encountered one—only after sacrificing Asuma, Kabuto, and two support ninja did they manage to bring it down.
The Wraith Guardian Core it dropped could only be sold to the shop for 100 reward points.
But to buy one from the shop? 1000 reward points.
Neji's eyes gleamed. He'd figured out the game's rule: the stronger the monster, the better the loot.
The tougher the quest, the better the rewards.
Even so—
As much as he wanted to advance, his desire to break the Caged Bird Seal outweighed everything. He wouldn't waste his reward points.
Neji took a deep breath. "I've already spent my points. This Wraith Guardian Core should go to Captain Asuma. You're probably close to Level 5 too."
Asuma was surprised by the gesture. "Are you sure, Neji?"
"I'm sure."
"In that case, we'll save the materials for whoever meets the requirements next."
Though Asuma was the leader, everyone's strength in the game was roughly equal. He couldn't take everything for himself.
By evening, Uzumaki Naruto reached Level 5. He used the squad's collected Wraith Essences and Guardian Core to complete the class quest.
[Class quest complete. You've received 1 random class scroll.]
[Congratulations! You are now a Warrior!]
Note: Upon leveling up, Warriors gain +3 Strength and +2 Constitution.
Naruto felt heat surge through his body. A burning power flowed within him, and his physique grew stronger.
His player panel now had a new tab:
[Skill Bar]
Whirlwind Slash Lv.1 – Spin your weapon in a circle, dealing (20 + 30% Strength) damage to all nearby enemies.
Naruto couldn't wait. He raised his broad-blade greatsword and activated the skill.
Boom!
The massive blade lit up with a fiery red glow.
Gripping the sword with both hands, Naruto swung in a horizontal arc, his whole body spinning with the blade. He charged toward a weathered stone wall.
A deafening crash.
The thick wall split under the strike, stones raining down as dust exploded outward.
He cleaved the entire wall open, revealing a massive hole.
Naruto stepped through the opening, arriving on the other side.
Seeing the power of the skill, Asuma took a deep breath. "That strength... it's comparable to a B-rank jutsu."
Nearby—
A support ninja scoffed. "It's not that impressive. Just a bit better than an average genin. A trained chūnin could take him out easily."
Kabuto adjusted his glasses silently.
Asuma noted the lack of understanding and said, "How long have we been in the Reincarnation Game?"
"Two days. What are you trying to say, Capta—"
The support ninja stopped mid-sentence, eyes widening as realization dawned.
They had only been in the game for two days.
Even solo players, if they went all in, could probably complete the class quest within ten days—two weeks at most.
And in the shinobi world—
Even the Five Great Nations, with all their resources, needed years to train a chūnin.
Finding talented children, teaching them chakra control, instructing them in ninjutsu, and sending them into battle… Even the gifted needed ten years.
But in the Reincarnation Game—only ten days.
