The Game Merchant Who Started from the Ninja World

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Game Update

Chapter 49: Game Update

There was no need for Ah Fu to remind him—Fang Yi felt it intuitively. As long as he consumed reward points, he could freely alter the entire Death Soul Mountain Range just like he had with the Novice Village.

The Novice Village had only cost 100,000 reward points to create. It was just a basic space filled with simple buildings, worth less than the wall itself.

Its only function was to give players a place to rest.

The Death Soul Mountain Range, however, was a complete world fragment.

The vast mountain range contained rich deposits of Wraith Stone, Wraith Wood forests, and streams and rivers infused with dense Wraith energy.

These were all valuable resource points that could continuously produce materials.

Ah Fu explained, "Complete world fragments can automatically draw in cosmic energy to replenish the origin power they consume. Though the process is slow, it's nothing like the dead space of the Novice Village you created."

In simpler terms,

The cheap Novice Village was a dead zone, but the Death Soul Mountain Range had the potential to grow and evolve.

Fang Yi asked, "How much would it cost to create a complete world fragment?"

Ah Fu did some quick mental math on her fingers. "Five million reward points can make a fragment the size of a basketball court."

Five million reward points!

Fang Yi's eyes widened. He hadn't expected it to be that expensive.

"Creating life is a miracle in itself," Ah Fu said. "Forging a world fragment capable of producing origin power and sustaining life is extremely difficult. That's why the corrupted worlds go to such lengths to devour others."

Fang Yi couldn't stop grinning.

He'd thought the defeat of the Wraith Sorceress would, at best, earn him a few hundred thousand reward points. But it turned out the true prize was the Death Soul Mountain Range itself.

He looked greedily toward the Blood-Soaked Wasteland and, in the Pirate World, the Soul Reaping Village and Yasha Forest.

Ah Fu gulped.

Corrupted worlds had always been symbols of fear and destruction. Other worlds trembled at the mention of them.

But her master was treating them like prize money.

Absolutely insane!

[Game Merchant]: Congratulations to all players for defeating the Wraith Sorceress (Sarina). You are all heroes who defended your homeland. Each player is awarded the title [Wraith Slayer], which can be claimed at the Siege Officer for a cost of 200 reward points.

Players who dealt damage to the Wraith Sorceress (Sarina) will receive rewards based on contribution. Each contribution point is worth 1,000 reward points.

The game shop will be updated soon. New items will be added, and some prices adjusted. Countdown: 24 hours.

Fang Yi's message spread like wildfire.

Not only did the players hear it, but the major ninja villages and noble factions received intelligence almost instantly.

When it came to updates in the Reincarnation Game, no one dared be careless.

The last update had introduced the Life Profession System.

The major villages had reacted slowly. Merchants noticed the opportunity first and made a killing by mass-purchasing materials and selling them for huge profits.

That much profit, they could tolerate.

But now, some merchants had grown their organizations into real-world forces that rivaled small ninja villages.

That, the Five Great Nations would not allow.

But their economic hands were tied.

Sending ninjas to crush these merchant factions would alienate their life-skill players in the game.

Long had burst into the Water Shadow's office, kneeling in excitement. "Lady Mizukage! Two players have reached Level 15 in Forging. Their forged iron has hardness exceeding chakra steel!"

"They were blacksmiths to begin with. They aren't good fighters. But after becoming players, they devoted everything to life skills—invested over 2 billion yen."

Mei's hand froze mid-paperwork. Her heart ached at the thought of those funds.

High councilors had been bombarding her with complaints. She could barely hold the pressure back.

But upon hearing Long's report, she asked quickly, "Do they have a finished product?"

Long took out a scroll from his ninja tool pouch.

Poof.

Smoke billowed out.

A beautiful short katana shimmered in his hand. The blade was thin and gleamed with a chilling light.

[Sharp Short Katana (Green)]

Type: One-Handed Sword

Durability: 15/15

Attack: 8–11

Requirements: Strength 8, Constitution 5

Passive Ability: Sharp (Armor Penetration +3)

Note: Product of Kirigakure's Fifth Forge.

Besides the katana, there was a chainmail-like breastplate woven from iron wire—rigid yet flexible.

Also green quality, it boosted health regeneration.

Mei's eyes sparkled as she examined the two items.

Then she froze.

"No level requirement?!"

She inhaled sharply. That meant even ordinary village ninjas could wear them.

Struggling to contain her excitement, she asked, "What's the forging speed and cost?"

Long answered respectfully, "If they work nonstop, they can forge one katana every two days, one breastplate every three. Materials are cheap—just low-grade Wraith Iron. Around 200 reward points per item."

Hiss…

Mei's brain short-circuited. She hadn't expected life skills to bring such powerful logistical strength.

A green weapon with similar stats would cost 500 points in the shop. But in Kirigakure, they could forge one for only 200.

Their initial investment wasn't just not a loss—it was a windfall!

If the mysterious game merchant knew, he might cry from regret.

Mei's lips curled into a pleased smile. "Take these two items and show them to the old geezers. I don't want another word from them about my decisions."

"Tell them this: Kirigakure has only one leader. That leader is the Mizukage."

"Yes!"

Long's heart burned with excitement.

He would eventually become Mizukage himself. His political instincts weren't weak. He knew the value of the two pieces of forged gear in his hands.

Those squabbling councilors?

They'd soon be crushed beneath the Mizukage's iron rule.

From now on, Kirigakure would follow only one will:

Lady Mei's!

Konohagakure.

At the head seat sat a sleep-deprived Hiruzen Sarutobi.

On either side of the table were the clan heads, department chiefs, and high-level advisors—each one a pillar of the village.

The Wraith Sorceress had been slain.

The mysterious merchant was about to launch a game update. Everyone was on edge.

"I propose that no matter what the update includes, we prepare a large reserve of funds," said Asuma from the far end.

"All the clans here have members who became players. You should understand by now—this game runs on money."

Hyuga Hiashi raised both hands in agreement. "I support Captain Asuma's proposal. The game's potential is obvious. Young Neji is already jōnin-level because of it."

His tone carried pride—but also a hint of bitterness.

If someone from the Main House had been picked instead of a Branch member, no doubt they would have stolen the spotlight.

"Agreed," Asuma nodded. "So I suggest every clan contributes some funds—"

Before he could finish, every clan head wore a look of avoidance.

Even Hiashi quietly lowered his hands.

Support the village's policies?

Fine.

But dig into our own pockets?

Absolutely not.
