Chapter 43: Healing Classes Are in High Demand
[Monster Siege (Event)]
Event Benefit 1: During the event, hunting corrupted monsters grants double reward points, experience, and skill EXP.
Event Benefit 2: Hunting corrupted monsters earns merit points. The [Siege Officer] has opened a special merit shop where players can spend merits to purchase the [Wraith] series of exclusive equipment.
Event Benefit 3: Siege Leaderboard activated. The top five players with the highest merit points can receive a mysterious gift from the [Siege Officer] after the siege ends.
Once the announcement appeared, the entire Novice Village erupted with excitement.
Especially players who had never seen anything like this before—their fear vanished. They eagerly wiped down their weapons, ready to charge out and fight the Wraiths.
"A game event?"
"Must be like a holiday festival! With double skill EXP, my Flaming Blade Technique is definitely hitting level five!"
"I'm standing next to the Siege Officer—the Wraith gear is all level 10 blue and purple. Can you believe it?!"
In the Ninja Novice Village,
most combat players had already reached level 10, but their gear was still pretty shabby.
Only a few—wealthy nobles, ninja who had traded in jutsu, or merchant players with deep pockets—had solid loadouts. The majority were still wearing a mismatched set of white and green gear.
Armor slots: head, shoulder, chest, pants, belt, boots.
Accessory slots: 2 rings, necklace, 2 bracelets.
That's 10 equipment slots total, not counting weapons.
Armor was cheapest: one green piece (level 10) sold for 2,000 reward points in the shop, or 1,600 from a merchant.
Accessories were more expensive: green-level (level 10) cost 3,500 in the shop, or 3,000 from a merchant.
So…
To get a full set of green gear, even excluding the ultra-rare case where you somehow looted it all yourself, you needed at least 20,000 reward points.
And most of it would be scattered pieces without set bonuses.
Sets cost even more.
But!
The Siege Officer was selling full sets of blue and purple gear—for surprisingly low prices.
"Kill, kill, kill! Wipe out the Wraiths!"
"Wraith army? Sounds valuable. I just need the Wraith Cavalier Chestplate—you're going down!"
"Glory to the Five Great Nations!"
No fear, no hesitation—just burning desire for that Wraith loot.
The first wave of Wraith Beasts arrived.
Sleek, agile animal forms surged forward like a crashing tide. Some flapped their wings and hovered menacingly above the battlefield.
Suddenly,
countless alcoves opened on the inner side of the village walls, and thousands of Wraith Soldiers stepped forth.
A special wall upgrade allowed it to absorb ambient Wraith energy and summon soldiers for defense.
"The wall can hold up to 5,000 Wraith Soldiers. Let's use them as a vanguard!"
The next second,
all the summoned soldiers dissolved into light, absorbed by a massive cannon embedded in the wall.
BOOM!
A black beam sliced through the sky like a blade, striking the heart of the Wraith Beast horde with a colossal shockwave.
The blast scorched a blackened crater into the enemy ranks.
Hundreds of Wraith Beasts were reduced to ash.
The shockwave flung dozens more into the air, breaking their formation.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Wraith beams swept across the battlefield like a lashing whip, tearing the enemy into chaos.
The silver-haired loli breathed a sigh of relief. "Master, this is the true power of the wall during a siege! Isn't it amazing?"
Fang Yi didn't look particularly moved.
Without player help, upgrading the wall would've cost him 500,000 reward points.
With this kind of firepower, it had better be impressive.
Besides, once the stored Wraith energy was used up, the Wraith Cannon would go from machine-gun level to single-shot peashooter.
In the end, it was still up to the players to fight.
Around the walls,
a mass of players had gathered. The terrifying firepower of the Wraith Cannon had become a rallying banner of morale.
"Tsunade-sama, please join our squad."
Asuma bowed slightly to the armored blonde woman, his tone full of sincerity.
He was incredibly frustrated.
After the Hokage declared they were abandoning the raid on the Wraith Sorceress Sarina, morale among the Konoha forces had plummeted.
Disappointment was thick in the air.
He had never imagined that the man he once admired as the village's warm and protective sun—his own father—would make such a shortsighted decision.
The Reincarnation Game clearly had the power to overturn the ninja world.
It was like discovering an island full of treasure. Every other nation was building ships and opening new trade routes—bringing back loot to their homelands.
And here was Konoha…
closing its ports and shutting itself off.
"If Mei could save Kirigakure, what about me?"
Asuma caught himself and quickly shook the thought from his head.
He refocused on Tsunade.
The Reincarnation Game had countless classes—fantasy ones like Warrior, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Hunter.
Martial types like Brawler, Apothecary, Warlord, Swordsman.
And sci-fi types like Mech Pilot, Engineer, and Gunner.
But broadly, they all fell into six categories:
Tanks (high HP and defense),
Melee DPS,
Ranged DPS,
Magic DPS,
Assassins (burst damage),
and Support (heals and buffs).
You could break it down further into turret-style mages, sustained-damage mages, magic tanks, etc.
But the rarest—and most valuable—class was Support.
No group wanted to go without a healer.
Just like in real life, medical ninja greatly boosted a team's survivability and endurance.
Especially someone like Tsunade, who could both heal and dish out major damage.
"Wait, Gambling Goddess!"
A noble girl from the Land of Frost cut off Asuma.
With delicate features and noble pride, she wore a gray-black robe that looked like it had been forged from stone. Her voice was hopeful. "Gambling Goddess, I'll pay you 5,000 reward points to join our squad."
Gambling Goddess was Tsunade's in-game nickname.
She had once saved this noble girl from a Wraith Cavalier in the depths of the Death Soul Mountain Range. Since then, they'd stayed in touch—trading intel, materials, and gear.
Game acquaintances, more or less.
"If you're asking the Gambling Goddess to join, you clearly know her value. Don't think you'll get her help for free."
The noble girl wasn't short on cash.
She offered 5,000 reward points—equivalent to 500 million yen—just to hire a healer.
"Asuma."
Tsunade hadn't expected the noble to be so generous.
No one refused free points.
But she looked back at Asuma.
After all, she had once been a Konoha ninja. If he could match the price, she would consider him first.
