Chapter 30: Chapter 30: The Trial Begins
Chapter 30: The Trial Begins
"Even though I didn't get the answer to peace, I found a direction. Thank you."
Konan suppressed the surge of emotion, her expression sincere as she bowed slightly.
This wasn't just her own wish, but also Nagato's, and the will left behind by the deceased Yahiko.
The answer the mysterious merchant gave wasn't perfect, but in a ninja world filled with desolation and war, it was no doubt a tremendous revelation.
She longed to tell Nagato immediately, but she also understood the importance of priorities—she wanted to uncover the truth behind the Reincarnation Game first.
Off to the side,
Sasuke, whose Mangekyō Sharingan trial had ended, felt an emptiness in his eyes, as if something powerful had just been torn away.
"Is this the kind of power you betrayed everything for?"
The memory of that overwhelming strength still lingered. Sasuke was torn.
It was undeniably destructive power.
He had nearly been intoxicated by the Susanoo, believing himself to rival the Sage of Six Paths—until the merchant casually waved a hand and erased the flaming arrow it shot.
"If that's what it takes… Uchiha Itachi, you truly are disgusting."
Sasuke took a deep breath, steadying his heart. Disappointment flickered in his black eyes.
No matter how powerful it was, if it required sacrificing someone he loved, then it was garbage.
He would never be like Uchiha Itachi. Even without the Mangekyō, he would avenge his clan.
High above,
Fang Yi, sensing Sasuke's change in mindset, was surprised.
He had expected the taste of power to drive Sasuke mad, pushing him to abandon everything in pursuit of it.
Instead, the chakra signature became purer—like Sasuke had come to terms with something.
But on second thought, it wasn't so surprising.
In the original story, Sasuke was essentially kind at heart. Even after enduring Itachi's Tsukuyomi and reliving the Uchiha Massacre repeatedly, his mind remained intact. He still formed a bond with Naruto.
Naruto's bond was inevitable, linked to Asura and chakra reincarnation.
But even during the Chūnin Exams, Sasuke showed concern for Sakura and the rest of his classmates.
His Sharingan didn't awaken from hatred, but from love.
It first evolved to two tomoe when Naruto was severely injured by Haku.
He reached three tomoe during the fight with Naruto at the Valley of the End, when he admitted that Naruto was his bond.
And finally awakened the Mangekyō after killing Itachi and learning the truth about his brother's love.
All of it… stemmed from love.
Perhaps Sasuke's way of awakening the Sharingan was the right one.
Suddenly, a shrill voice tore through the plaza.
"No! The Box of Ultimate Bliss can't be fake! You're lying!"
Muei, former jōnin of Kusagakure and current Warden of Hōzuki Castle, trembled violently, eyes bloodshot.
He had betrayed his village, spent years among criminals—all for the chance to open the Box of Ultimate Bliss and resurrect his son, Muku.
But the trial version of the box had failed. Even if it did revive his son, the result was a mindless monster, devoid of thought or feeling.
He couldn't accept that.
"The Box of Ultimate Bliss is merely a tool that accumulates chakra and emotion,"
Fang Yi said flatly, revealing the harsh truth.
The Sage of Six Paths left behind many tools.
The Gold and Silver Brothers of Kumogakure had once used Six Paths tools to kill the Second Hokage.
The Box of Ultimate Bliss was powerful too. The creature sealed within could destroy multiple countries with ease.
But it couldn't communicate with the Pure Land. It couldn't truly bring people back to life.
"I don't believe you!"
Muei screamed, pounding the ground in helpless rage.
Fang Yi waved a hand.
A new set of exchange options appeared before Muei's eyes.
[Soul Return Talisman]: Revives a deceased soul. The body must be intact. Price: 50,000 reward points.
[Resurrection Necklace]: Wearer revives upon death. Usable 5 times, 6-hour cooldown. Price: 70,000 reward points.
[Tenseiga], [Fruit of the Underworld], [Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique]...
Dozens of resurrection options flooded the screen, dazzling and overwhelming.
Muei's eyes were bloodshot. His voice hoarse. "How do I know you're not lying? I've never heard of these revival methods."
"I'm just a merchant. I don't need your trust."
Fang Yi spread his hands. "As long as you reach the required level and earn enough points, you can purchase any of these items."
"The Box of Ultimate Bliss is a fraud. You've waited years in Hōzuki Castle already. What's a little more time to try something new?"
"Hmph."
Muei was furious, but he didn't dare lash out at the mysterious merchant, whose powers were already terrifyingly clear.
Deep down, he had suspected something was wrong with the box.
But the hope of reviving Muku had buried those doubts. Now that they had been exposed, he was left adrift.
"A little more time, huh…"
He muttered.
If it meant bringing Muku back, time was something he had plenty of.
Once the mood was set, Fang Yi suddenly raised his arms.
The entire space began to tremble.
Thick vines and branches erupted from the ground like spring onions, growing rapidly.
Within half a minute,
a lush forest engulfed the plaza and began expanding outward.
Through the dense foliage, a spire could be seen glowing in the distance, like a guiding lighthouse.
[Game Tower No. 1 – Wraith Trial Field]: Wraiths ×500, Wraith Guards ×20, Reincarnation Jar (Lv.1) ×5
All players saw these words appear before their eyes.
"New player trial: hunting wraiths earns you points. Each Wraith kill = 2 points. Wraith Guard kill = 20 points."
"The top 20 players in points will receive a starter gift pack after the trial ends."
Fang Yi smiled and added, "There are also five Reincarnation Jars hidden in the forest. Open them for a chance to get random gear, skills, or items."
"Oh, and I forgot to mention:
Any reward you earn in the Reincarnation Game… you can bring back to the real world."
"Best of luck to everyone!"
As his voice faded,
the godlike figure vanished, leaving behind a plaza full of stunned players.
"Only 500 wraiths? That's not enough to go around!"
There were 500 players. No way they could all share equally.
The moment they heard that game items could be brought into the real world, madness took over.
Especially those who had already tried trial powers.
They lunged toward the forest, afraid someone else would steal the wraiths first.
"I must bring Muku back!"
"Itachi… wait for me!"
Like a tide, the players surged into the forest—
racing like ants, chasing their destiny.
