Book 3: Chapter 28
The crafting of his bombs was pretty straight forward, the only thing that made it slightly difficult was ensuring that he didn’t waste his supply of materials. He had bought out most of the stores in his tutorial before he left but that didn’t mean he wanted to use them in disposable items. He knew he could replace some of what he was using through the stores in the settlement but what was available there was expensive and he still had six months left on Earth, if he even decided to stay that long.
He chose the cheapest materials he had that would work for his bombs, mostly they were small shards or crystals that could hold attuned mana and could be coated in a decent amount of metal to form a ball roughly the size of his palm.
Forming the metal around the shards was easier as they bonded to the metal and allowed them mana to flow much easier. After making the first few he was able to pretty much do it in his sleep. This wasn’t pushing his skills at all as he was making them to be used by people much lower and less skilled than he was.
After making nearly 50 bombs he got bored and started to experiment, now adding in air and fire to see if he could widen the radius of the blast, even if it was sacrificing some of the power of the attack.
Still, 50 bombs later, with now 100 of them sitting in piles around him he moved on to something more difficult, this time he aimed for something completely different. Building layers into the bomb he started with lightning, condensing and packing more attuned mana into it than he had with all the other bombs combined. Then after he had stabilised it he added in a second layer covering the first, this one similar to the air and fir bombs he had been making.
Finally with that layer done he moved onto the last layer, this one unattuned but much more complex. The aim was, that when it was activated, that it would pull everyone and everything around it in a large radius right towards the bomb. He had to manipulate siphon runes as well as adding in a rather difficult set of runes that would allow for the bomb to spread out and then pull everything in. Testing out a few methods he found that using air was the best way, it would simply spread then pull back in with as much force as he could pack into it.
Eric and a full 2,000 others had arrived while he was crafting but he had ignored them and they left him alone. They had gotten here much quicker than he had expected, obviously they had been at the closest fortress and had pushed their way to him as quickly as they could.
When he finally finished his new tri bomb he placed it on the ground and looked around at all the bombs he had made. It had bene a while since he had crafted anything like this and he was enjoying finally seeing himself get some levels again that weren’t related to Rune work.

The only skills left for his class was Earthen Echo and elemental shift, but with only a few levels left in he had no doubt that he would successfully hit that in no time. He wanted to change the skill for Stoen Skin before he even thought about upgrading his class though.
On the profession side most of his skills were past the 100 mark with only a few still needing to be worked on. He wasn’t overly stressed about these as he could work on his profession skills as much as he wanted in his own time as long as he had materials and ideas to work on. His Creators Plan skill had shot up so quickly due to how many people had used his plans to create weapons and runes. It was the easiest skill he had ever had to level.
Checking how long he had been sitting here crafting it had been just over a full day. Disappointed that he hadn’t yet got any notifications for people dying from his ritual at the central fortress he rechecked the time and then checked to see if he had missed anything while he had bene crafting. Unable to locate anything he stood up and waved Eric over.
“Thanks for coming so quickly, but we aren’t ready to claim this fortress yet.” He got straight down to business, not happy with how this situation was going in the slightest.
“Why not? I figured that was why you called us here? That or because you wanted us to actually fight, but seeing how no one is around I am guessing you wanted back up for claiming this position.” Eric was confused at what was happening, not that he could blame him.
“I left a parting present for The Pantheon at their central fortress, but it hasn’t gone off yet. It should have unless they found it or they all left.” Shaun thought at what his next steps should be, mostly he just wanted to fly back to the fortress and see what was happening but that would also leave all the people he had called here standard. “Fuck it, I am going to…”
For killing over 100,000 enemy in their own territory 50,000 Event points awarded.
For killing over 250,000 enemy in their own territory 75,000 Event points awarded.
For killing over 500,000 enemy in their own territory 100,000 Event points awarded.
For causing mass damage to the enemies fortress 50,000 Event points awarded
For killing multiple key personnel of the enemy team 142,000 Event points awarded.
As he saw the messages he couldn’t help but let out one of the most evil laughs he had ever heard in his life. This was mass destruction on a whole new level. Not only had he killed over half a million people but he had practically destroyed the fortress and with it multiple people that were higher up in the reporting chain.
Jason was going to be pissed. No, he was going to be beyond pissed at what had happened. He doubted that he killed any of the Charlo with his attack, they were too strong to die from it, but if they were there they would have been hurt. His guess was that he had taken out some commanders in that attack, people that were put into positions to help run the armies and lead from the front lines. This was a massive blow to their numbers and structure.
Event Announcement
Jason Charlo’s Strategic position (Central Fortress) has been damaged beyond 90% stability by Shaun Clermont. This includes the death of over 70% of its occupants and significant losses to key figures.
Due to the significance of the attack, over 80% of all strategic positions having been claimed and Shaun Clermont’s side having hit the first stage cap on event points, Stage 2 of the event has now commenced with Shaun Clermont’s side in the lead to win The War.
“Let’s claim this fortress now. The present I left has done its job.” He pulled back up the message to claim the fortress and accepted with glee.
“Do I even want to ask how you killed so many people, wrecked an entire fortress and did it all while sitting her crafting….. Are those bombs?” Eric wasn’t the only one who looked confused. Everyone that had joined him also looked towards were he stood with shock written on their face, as well as a good dose of fear.
Vivenne Grace: A heads up would have been nice. I don’t know how you did it when you weren’t even there, and yes I know you weren’t there as unlike you people keep me updated. We are upgrading our defences on the outer fortresses and the compound. With the points you have gotten us we can now do both. We are also increasing the attack capabilities on the fortresses, we aren’t all like you.
He didn’t bother replying to Viv, ”here’was no need to. Instead he focused back on Eric and also now Yarila how had approached with a group of elves. Along with them he spotted Eli and his own team approaching. Eric did not hold back on bringing him people he could rely on to follow orders.
“You exceed expectations again and again. You should know that my people, especially those who doubted siding with you, have now fully pledged their support of your settlement beyond just this event.” Yarila was more put together than the humans that were gathered. Now that their shock had passed they looked ready to celebrate.
“Good to know.” Dealing with Elven Human relations was not on his job description so he didn’t bother delving into her comments any further than needed. “The plan here is simple. We wait for them to come to us. Hopefully they send some people this way for us to kill, if not its going to be a chill 24 hours.”
“I cant believe your our teacher, your bad ass! Can we train while we wait?” Eli treated him like he always did, more like an older brother than the leader of an entire war effort, but that was how he liked it. “Also what’s with those?” He gestured to the bombs on the ground.
“The bombs are to defend the fortress from the inside. Just push a bit of mana into it and throw. Mostly for people who don’t have ranged attacks. Doubt we will need them now but I was bored. They will be useful later on though.” Eli went to pick up a bomb, as did Eric and Yarila. They all inspected them for a while before putting them back down.
“We will set up camps on the other side of where the fortress will be, I assume if anyone is going to come here it will be from the direction of their own compound.” Eric gave the order to the group, as did Yarila with a subtle nod to the elf to her left. “You waited to claim the fortress until your attack went off. It is smart, although unlike your usual attack first plan later approach.”
“I know, but after being kicked out of their central fortress before I could claim it I figured that it was better to play it smart. Once we claim this fortress and the rest of our armies catch up the real war will begin. They still out number us and the Charlo are strong enough that by themselves they would be able to push back or wipe out one of our armies if we aren’t careful. We aren’t losing this event, understood?” He got acknowledgements from every body and with that they split up to get settled. He agreed to train with Eli and his team for a bit but mostly it would be more crafting and waiting.
