Chapter 4: The Strategy of Capturing the Childhood Sweetheart CEO 3
Unaware of the heated discussion taking place outside about her attire, Elora immersed herself in her work. She understood the importance of competence in her position; if she was to manage the company effectively, it was crucial to approach her tasks with diligence. She resolutely picked up her project plan and began reviewing it with focused intent.
Knock, knock... A sudden knock on the door interrupted her train of thought.
"Come in!" Elora looked up to see Sylvie, the trusted assistant of her client, entering the room.
"Manager Carter, your green tea," Sylvie said, placing a cup of tea in front of her.
"Sylvie, do I have any appointments this afternoon?" Elora lifted the cup, bringing it close to her nose. The refreshing fragrance of the tea wafted up, clearing her mind instantly. Ah... this was her favorite Tie Guan Yin tea. She took a small sip, the taste lingering pleasantly on her tongue. A satisfied smile curled on her lips.
"There's nothing major this afternoon, but there's a banquet hosted by the Donovan family of B City this evening," Sylvie replied promptly, demonstrating her responsibility and attention to detail.
"The Donovan family of B City?!" Elora furrowed her brow—there was no memory of such a name. "Got it. Please look up information on the Donovan family for me and leave the results on my desk this afternoon. You may leave now if there's nothing else." She needed to focus on familiarizing herself with the business.
"Understood. Let me know if you need anything," Sylvie acknowledged, observing that Elora had fully entered work mode, and quietly exited the office.
...
"Has it already reached one in the afternoon? No wonder I'm starving," Elora muttered, feeling her stomach growl in protest.
Though she occasionally had an air of disorganization, when it came to work, Elora was always relentlessly driven.
She glanced at the documents before her, then touched her growling stomach. Ah, forget it. It would be better to eat first and return to the work later. Elora stood, grabbed her car keys, and exited the office.
As she settled into the car and fastened her seatbelt, she pondered where to eat. Hmm, it was that awkward time between lunch and afternoon tea.
A sudden flash of inspiration struck her. Although it was a bit of a drive, it would be worth it for the meal—and perhaps, she might even run into Lucas. The thought of it spurred her into action, and she quickly started the car, heading towards Tranquil Scene Restaurant.
Tranquil Scene Restaurant was a renowned private dining establishment, famous for its exceptional cuisine. The restaurant was so popular that securing a reservation was a challenge; typically, one had to book a week in advance. However, for those lucky enough to possess the coveted diamond VIP card, reservations and queues were no longer a concern. Only a select few had such cards, and Elora happened to be one of them.
Despite its notorious difficulty in securing a table, the restaurant remained bustling with patrons, drawn by the exquisite dishes, particularly the signature drunken chicken. The mere thought of it made Elora's mouth water.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Elora parked her car and gracefully made her way inside with her handbag in hand.
"Welcome to Tranquil Scene Restaurant, Miss Carter. Your private room number eight is ready for you," the hostess greeted with a beaming smile.
"No need for a private room today. I'll take that table by the window," Elora said, her gaze sweeping across the dining room. The hostess nodded in understanding, promptly leading her to the table Elora had indicated.
"Miss Carter, would you like the usual?" The hostess inquired, her posture respectful as she awaited Elora's confirmation.
"Yes, the usual," Elora replied with a smile.
"Please wait a moment," the hostess said, before gracefully retreating.
...
Having the VIP card certainly had its advantages—no need to reserve a table, no waiting in line. Each card was linked to a specific private room, guaranteeing a table anytime, and ensuring priority service.
Elora settled into the comfortable chair, savoring the freshly brewed green tea. Within moments, the dishes arrived, perfectly arranged on the table.
"Please enjoy your meal, Miss Carter. Should you need anything, please press the call button," the hostess said before quietly retreating, leaving Elora to dine in peace.
