Chapter 43
Jian Xi let Chen Qingdong stretch out his hand and place it on the table. She put three fingers together and pressed them against his wrist pulse.
After a while, she retracted her hand.
Chen Qingdong seemed to be waiting for the verdict. He held his breath and looked at her nervously, not daring to ask.
Jian Xi gave him a faint smile to relax him, and said softly, "It's treatable."
When these two words came out, Chen Qingdong was greatly relieved. What followed was bitterness—a man in his forties was on the verge of tears in front of Jian Xi.
The rumors over the years had nearly crushed him. Fortunately, he had the companionship of his wife who did not abandon him. Moreover, the Chen family was a single heir for three generations. When he found out about his infertility, his parents aged overnight. One can imagine how much pressure he was under!
Jian Xi could understand. For some people, offspring were truly important, it was their legacy.
"Thank you, Miss Jian." Chen Qingdong stood up and bowed to thank her.
Jian Xi dodged to the side. "Mr. Chen, it's too early to thank me now. You can thank me again when you have good news, it won't be too late."
Treating his infertility was not difficult, but Chinese medicine and acupuncture must be combined. "From now on, Mr. Chen, come here at ten o'clock every morning. I'll give you a prescription for the medicine, and write down the usage instructions. It can be cured after ten days."
Chen Qingdong's eyes widened in disbelief. He doubted his own ears. "Miss Jian, did you say how many days?"
"Ten days. What's wrong? Your illness has dragged on for a long time and can't be rushed. Otherwise, the effect won't be very good and you'll suffer a lot." Jian Xi patiently explained.
Realizing she had misunderstood, he hurriedly waved his hands and explained, "No, Miss Jian, I think ten days is too fast!"
Jian Xi looked up at him. Wasn't he anxious? Why did he think ten days was too fast?
"It's not that either, I just, I..." Chen Qingdong was so excited that he was a bit incoherent. In the end, he could only squeeze out one sentence, "Miss Jian, you are too amazing!"
Jian Xi felt a little embarrassed by his praise. "I said it's still too early to say things like that now."
She handed him the prescription, instructed him to come on time tomorrow, then let Gu Lingling send him out.
The divination of the three hexagrams for today had been completed, taking less than two hours in total. She looked at the time on her phone, it was 11 o'clock.
Zhao Sister-in-law should have finished cooking. She got up, cleaned up the small wooden house with a cleaning talisman, and headed to the main building.
Zhao Sister-in-law was an elderly person from the old house. He Qingchen was busier now than before, and sometimes could not come back in time to cook for her. Not wanting her to work hard cooking by herself, he had selected someone from the old house to be responsible for Jian Xi’s three meals a day.
At the beginning, Jian Xi refused, saying that she could cook by herself and it was not necessary to trouble others. But He Qingchen insisted, so she obediently listened.
It had to be said that this Zhao Sister-in-law really knew how to cook, and her specialties were all Jian Xi’s favorites!
Today He Qingchen would not be back for lunch, so it was just Jian Xi by herself. Zhao Sister-in-law cooked four dishes and one soup for her, all in single serving sizes.
In the afternoon, Jian Xi received a call from Gu Lingling saying that Zhou Junhe wanted to ask her to divine another hexagram.
Jian Xi had expected this, but she just didn’t expect Zhou Junhe to act so quickly. Indeed, power and influence made a difference! Without letting Gu Lingling hang up the phone, she directly reported an address for her to pass on to Zhou Junhe.
Gu Lingling was now Jian Xi’s little fangirl. She hadn’t even said what Zhou Junhe wanted divined again, yet Miss Jian already knew it in advance!

In the evening, in a resettlement building in B City, a young woman was cooking in the kitchen, but her eyes kept glancing at the playpen in the living room, because a sleeping baby was lying inside.
This woman was Xu Yao, the woman Zhou Junhe had frantically looked for all over the city this morning!
The range hood was not turned on in the kitchen. She was afraid the noise would wake the baby, so she could only simply cook some noodle soup.
This was also her first meal today. As a new mother, she often went without food to take care of the baby, because it was just her alone without any help.
Soon the noodles were cooked. She did not carry them to the dining table, but placed the noodles on the coffee table closest to the playpen and sat on the floor. Her eyes watched her daughter while she carefully ate the noodles.
Looking at her daughter who looked like she came out of the same mold as Zhou Junhe, she gradually lost herself in thought, and her hand holding the chopsticks slowed down.
After she and Zhou Junhe broke up, her heart had been sealed off. She thought that was it for her life, but unexpectedly two years ago when she was working as a bartender, she met him again. Moreover, he had been plotted against, and she willingly became his antidote without a second thought.
Afterwards, she hurried away, because she didn’t know how to face him when he woke up, and even less wanted the Zhou family who already looked down on her to think she was sleeping her way up. So she asked her colleague to help delete all the surveillance videos related to her.
But unexpectedly, a month after the incident, she discovered that she was pregnant. She chose to give birth because to her, this was the best gift he could give her!
Suddenly the baby's cries brought her thoughts back. She put down her chopsticks and hurried to comfort her daughter.
Before she even finished soothing the baby, there was a knock at the door. Without time to consider who it could be so late, she just held the child and opened the door.
The moment the door opened, Xu Yao was stunned. The man standing at the door turned out to be the one she had just reminisced about!
"Waa--Waa--"
The crying sounds of the child were extraordinarily loud in the quiet space. Xu Yao came back to her senses, and quickly hid the child in her arms. Could he have come to take away her daughter, who was her only light? He must not be allowed to take her away!
Xu Yao took steps back. Zhou Junhe did not hesitate to stride into the room.
The door slammed shut.
The night was still long, perfect for talking through until dawn!
...
A few days later, the Zhou family sent Zhou Junhe’s wedding invitation, inviting Jian Xi and He Qingchen to attend.
On the wedding day, He Qingchen brought Jian Xi. Zhou Junhe and Xu Yao held hands on stage, and together bowed to Jian Xi in gratitude. Jian Xi did not evade, and accepted it.
She gave their daughter a peace talisman as a gift, wishing the little baby to grow up healthy!
Jian Xi caused another sensation again. Xu Yan was getting endless calls, with appointments getting longer and longer. Yet this was still not the peak moment.
Because another week later, the head of the Chen family, Chen Qingdong, announced that his infertility had been cured by Jian Xi. The hospital checkup report already showed normal results!
From then on, more and more people wanted to find Jian Xi, whether or not they were from B City, or from prominent families.
