The Extra’s POV : I can only use Dash

Chapter 18: Simulation room [4]

"…Me? I have to fight too?"

I asked, caught off guard by Eve's sudden statement. She looked at me with a puzzled expression, as if she hadn't expected my reaction.

"Of course! What did you think? You need to train, Sugil, if you want to pass the exam!"

"Yeah, I-I know, but…"

I've never fought in real life before… and it hasn't even been a full day since I got thrown into this novel.

'Seriously… I thought this would be easier, but I'm already panicking at the idea of fighting a monster…'

"Don't worry, little brother. We'll take it easy with an F-rank enemy!"

"…Alright…"

Eve walked up to one of the remaining mannequins and activated it.

[Training Dummy: Rank F → Stage 1]

[Activating Training Dummy: Rank F - Stage 1. Please wait…]

[Countdown to Training Start:

<10 seconds…>

<9 seconds…>]

A wooden sword materialized in my hand.

Eve smiled to reassure me. I nodded hesitantly, gripping the sword awkwardly.

<2 seconds…>

<1 second…>

"Go for it, Sugil! You got this!"

[Simulation Start: Isolating the Challenger]

Before I could say another word, the white cube enveloped me.

I shut my eyes tightly, my heart pounding.

A minute passed.

Then, a mechanical voice echoed.

[Welcome, challenger. You will now face a Rank-F goblin.]

[Time limit: 10 minutes.]

When I opened my eyes… I wasn't in the simulation room anymore.

I was standing in a lush forest.

"Oh…"

A gentle breeze swept through the trees, carrying the scent of fresh leaves. The world around me felt so real…

I tilted my head back to look at the sky. It wasn't like I had never seen one before, but… Even knowing this was just a simulation, everything felt eerily authentic.

"Gng… Keukh…"

"Hm?"

A low growl reached my ears, snapping me out of my daze.

"Ha… AH!!"

A goblin stood a few meters ahead.

It was ugly—just as grotesque as they were in fantasy stories.

Short, hunched, with sickly green skin and bloodshot eyes.

The monsters from the Tower weren't just random creatures; they were beings humans already knew about—except now they were real. Some people believed they were aliens, disguising themselves as the monsters we feared most in our myths and stories.

Yeah, just a random theory.

"Ah… Ah…"

'Shit… What do I do…?!'

My whole body trembled.

I hadn't even engaged in battle yet, but I was already frozen in fear.

The goblin hadn't noticed me. It was busy rummaging through the dirt with its clawed fingers.

But my body refused to move.

"…I-I can't…"

'Coward… This isn't the time to be like this!'

'Look at Sae-jin. He never hesitates!'

'While he was fighting, suffering, training, bleeding… What were you doing in your past life?!'

'You're not going to save the world like this, Sugil, get a gri—'

The goblin's head snapped up.

Its crazed, red eyes locked onto mine.

"Krrh… KRAH!!"

It saw me.

My heart stopped for a moment.

'Wait… That's right… Why would they give such an important mission to a coward like me…?'

'No… The real question is: out of the thousands of readers who followed 'Save the Humanity'… WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE ME WHO WAS TRANSPORTED HERE?!'

[Quest: Reach Level 5 during the entrance exam
