The Extra Can't be A Hero

Chapter 216: Birth of a Monster (2)

Amon felt like he was lying on a bed of clouds. A floral aroma filled his lungs, and a comforting warmth touched his fatigued skin. Like a soldier who was recovering in an isolated healing tank, Amon felt his body gradually regaining its strength. Torn sinews were slowly being stitched together as shattered bones reverted to their robust state.

The feeling was comforting… and at the same time, stifling.

It felt as if he didn't open his eyes soon, Amon would have been trapped in this bed of clouds for eternity.

And therefore, he forced himself awake.

"Hah…"

Exhaling violently, Amon's eyes flickered open. Light returned to his world, and his fingers regained some sensation. Twitching his face, Amon attempted to lift his heavy body, only to be weighed down by an invisible pressure. No, it wasn't pressure; it was his body refusing to move.

Almost every muscle in his body was sore, and it felt like an entire mountain was weighing him down. Every time he tried to move his arm, it refused to budge.

There was no questioning it… this was the most injured Amon had ever been in his life.

'What happened? I was fighting Abomination and then…'

Bit by bit, the memory of his battle resurfaced. Abomination had evolved to become the First Calamity, and its strength surpassed anything that Amon had ever faced. If left unchecked, it would have eradicated ten per cent of the Hyades Republic and any humans standing in its way.

Therefore, Amon used everything in his power to stop the monster… even if it meant using his imperfected skill. And the result was his broken state.

'Did I win?'

With his memory still fuzzy, Amon couldn't recall if he triumphed or perished during the battle. Still delirious, Amon shook his head on the pillow as he tried to gather his thoughts. And rather than Abomination, the first thought that came to mind was…

'A dream? No, it was my memory from the time I was in the laboratory… I'd thought I forgot all about that.'

The dream, no, the nightmare was still haunting him. After letting go and using his all, memories that he'd buried seemingly resurfaced. As his past and current life memories clashed and layered together, Amon found it hard to focus on his thoughts.

Fortunately, Amon's saviour was about to arrive.

"Oh, you're finally awake!"

Yue entered the room and gasped in pure delight. She skipped her way towards the bedridden man and got a wet towel from the basin nearby.

"How are you feeling? Are you able to talk?"

"Hah… Somehow…"

Amon's body was weak, but his speech was unimpaired. Sensing that his throat was a little dry, Yue offered her lover a glass of warm water, to which Amon gratefully gulped. Wetting his throat, Amon took some time to recover his senses before continuing to ask:

"Where am I?"

"We're back in Solfea, or more accurately, we're in the hospital," Yue explained without pausing to catch a breath.

"After you defeated Abomination, you fainted with severe backlash from using the Eclipse Mystic Arts. After giving you first aid, I rushed you back to Solfea through teleportation, and you've been nursing your injury since. As expected, your body isn't ready to use them."

"... I was too hasty, but it was the only way out of that situation."

"I agree. Even with my power of law, I wouldn't have been able to defeat the evolved Abomination."

In that situation, Amon's decision to use his ultimate ability was the right one. Alas, that power was too great for Amon's body to handle, and he faced severe backlash for even attempting it. Fortunately, he escaped death, and he was lucky to escape with only internal injuries.

"How long have I been asleep?"

"Two weeks."

"Two weeks?!"

Amon's golden eyes widened with complete horror. This was the first time he'd ever been this injured. Usually, he would defeat his opponents with nothing more than a scratch. But to think that he was incapacitated for two weeks…

"What about the Sword Saint and Bawi?"

"They're safe," Yue reassured Amon with a gentle smile. "They're currently under the care of the Solaris House. Grandpa Alrock says he'll wait for you to wake up before making any decisions about their care."

Naturally, the Sword Saint and his successor's appearance caused a huge commotion within the Solaris House. They were at a loss for what to do with the legendary figure who had suddenly pledged allegiance to Amon and Yue. Still, Yue didn't think it would be good to overload Amon's recovering brain with information.

"Hah… At least we saved them…"

Amon breathed a sigh of relief as he reflected on his actions. Initially, the Sword Saint was fated to become the First Calamity. However, since Abomination took over Malachi, the Apostle of Subservience, his destiny changed.

In the end, they managed to save the Sword Saint and eliminate one Apostle from the Demon Cult. It was an overwhelming blow to the Demon Cult and its plans for invading Hyades and enslaving all of humanity.

"Two weeks, huh? Then have you heard anything about Leon's side? Have they defeated the Clay Emperor?"

"Well… About that…"

Yue scratched her cheek, unsure of how to report the whole affair without overloading Amon's mind. However, the more she thought about it, the more she realised she had to elaborate from start to finish. And therefore, she did her best to summarise.

"That much happened?"

Amon was speechless after Yue's recount, which was already an abridged version of what Leon had reported. The details of their whole ordeal with the Clay Emperor and the Apostle of Chaos were something out of Amon and Yue's calculations. What was supposed to be a simple mission for Leon to learn leadership and grow into his Hero role had turned into a deadly mission where all of their lives were placed on the margins.

"I have to apologise to Leon… I never should have sent him alone."

"But it all turned out well, didn't it? We averted the First Calamity, and Leon had grown enough to live up to his title as the Hero."

"Still… We should have known the Demon Cult was so deeply involved in the Clay Emperor matter. It was our oversight."

"Hah… We may be transmigrators and regressors, but we aren't clairvoyant. There are bound to be some blind spots that we could never foresee."

Yue knew that Amon would react this way—blaming himself. But, ultimately, there was only so much they could prepare for the future. Especially since the threads that connect the future had been severed, and now… anything could happen.

"The butterfly effect… we've been too complacent. We'll need to move forward with the mindset that all of our knowledge of the future is useless. Or at the very least, we can't trust all of it anymore."

"That I agree."

"Now that we've stopped the First Calamity entirely, we must move to strike at the Second Calamity."

The Second Calamity, while considered a Calamity, wasn't entirely the Demon Cult's fault. However, it was closely tied to the protagonist, Leon Bright, and the reason his parents were forced to separate from him at a young age.

In [Bright], the Second Calamity destroyed Leon's family, and it served as motivation for him to unleash his true potential. Naturally, with Amon around, he could help Leon unleash his potential without that traumatic event.

Thus, there was no reason for Leon's parents to die.

"Then… I don't have the luxury of rest."

Amon attempted to move his body, and for the most part, he managed to lift his neck. Slowly, strength was returning to him. It was painful and slow, but if he forced himself, Amon could push his body to its limits and return to work.

Alas, Yue wasn't going to let him do as he pleased.

"What do you think you're doing?"

Yue pushed Amon's body down and mounted him in a familiar position. Her plump, child-bearing waist rested comfortably over Amon's thick lap, and she allowed her crystal white hair to flow down his chest. Leaning all of her bodyweight onto Amon's weakened self, the man was helpless against Yue's insistence and could only protest with his mouth.

"Restraining you?"

"Hah… We don't have the luxury of games."

"Hoh? Do you think I'm playing with you?"

Yue licked her lips like a succubus that had found her prey… defenceless and begging to be eaten.

"You know… There aren't many opportunities to find you this weak. So now, if I did as I pleased… There's nothing you could do, right~"

"... Yue?"

For the first time, Amon felt like he had become a helpless rabbit facing a ravenous lion. Yue's ruby eyes were sparkling with a predatory gaze, and her lips were misty wet that it was practically drooling.

"It's your fault, you know?"

"My fault? How?"

"You played with my feelings. Telling me all those sweet whispers. Whispers that you would take me as your bride and retire with me to the countryside. Ravish me all night long for sixty nights straight without rest. Impregnate me as many times as I desire until my body can bear no more children."

"..."

Amon was confident that he didn't say half of those things, but logic no longer mattered to Yue. Intoxicated by Amon's words, she replayed them in her head multiple times when he was in a coma. The memory evolved into a fantasy with her self-insert fictions, and now, she truly believed that Amon promised to ravish her as soon as he woke up.

And now that he was immobilised entirely… it was the perfect opportunity.

"Don't worry about staying chaste before marriage. Most people believe we've already done it, so let's make that a reality, shall we?"

"Ermmm… Yue? I don't think that's how it works…"

"Since we're both CONSENTING adults, I'm sure no one would bat an eye."

"... I'm not consenting."

"Oh, don't be like that… If you don't consent… It may seem like I'm forcing myself on you."

"..."

Amon was retorting wildly in his mind that Yue was doing precisely that!

But the words couldn't leave his mouth. For his mind was focused on the bewitching aroma and sultry face that was attacking his senses. Her silky hands slipped across Amon's broad chest and landed softly on his face. Her lips edged close as their noses touched. Their eyes interlocked, and for some magical circumstance… their heartbeats synchronised.

Ever since Amon's proclamation that he would marry Yue, the iron dam that was built around his heart had begun to show cracks.

Now, he was feeling genuine feelings for the ethereal beauty, and as a man… who wouldn't want to be loved by one of the most dazzling women in the world?

And just as Amon's mind was teetering on the edge of giving consent… the doors of his hospital ward slammed open.

There, Amon's overprotective mother, Maya, shrieked with pure anger within her cat-like eyes.

"You wench! What do you think you're doing to my beloved son?!"

"Tch, mother! Can't you come back five, no, ten… twenty minutes later?! Better still, come back tomorrow! I promise to give you a grandchild!"

"You're not married to my son yet!"

With the help of his mother, Amon managed to keep his chastity in check. But as a precaution, Amon decided to wait until his body was fully recovered before doing anything else. So that… he could protect himself from the predator called Yue Elune.
