chapter 8
8 – Cetin Divine Academy.
Veina had almost finished her meal, so she ate and said goodbye to Glodia and left the restaurant.
As Glodia said, the restaurant had a high turnover of food as business was going well, and the food arrived shortly after the two of them sat down to order and waited. It was a combination of food that almost didn’t like or dislike, including a set meal with pasta and hamburger steak and a corn salad.
Should I say the taste is too strong for Ed’s taste? I noticed while eating street food or restaurants that the food in the central region was stronger than the northern part, but the food at this restaurant had a stronger flavor.
‘This is similar to the North.’
An easy way to achieve both cost and taste is to cover inexpensive ingredients with strong spices. Ed was a commoner who was strapped for money and had served in the military, so he did not deny the method. Rather, I thought it was the virtue of a chef to make people able to consume nutrition no matter what method they used.
“Ed, does it fit your mouth?”
“I’m not used to the food in the center yet, but it’s delicious.”
“That’s a good thing. The seasoning here is a bit strong, so there are some differences in likes and dislikes.”
Glodia was also aware that this restaurant made her liver strong. After bringing Ed to the restaurant and ordering a set meal, I suddenly thought that Northern people eat a little bland, so it was a problem that the order was changed, but fortunately Ed ate well.
‘Even a necromancer might be easier to get along with than I thought.’
The fact that she didn’t like aristocrats too much, and the fact that she ate any kind of food at a cheap restaurant came to her liking. The question was ‘Ed, do you accept the necromancer as an assistant instructor?’ at Setin tomorrow. He said that he had passed the simplified lesson plan, but it was highly likely that he passed because he thought that there would be no necromancer to apply for Setin. Recalling the matter gave Glodia a headache.
“Ed, what do you plan to do if you don’t get permission tomorrow?”
“Isn’t that plan more important to you, Glodia? I can just leave. Since I came to Rika Coast, I visited the Cetin Holy Academy, a place that can be called a forbidden place for necromancers, so how about we take a look at the Pope’s Palace?”
Ed said with a smile. Although the various rewards such as a high salary, a room that I didn’t have to worry about, and 3rd Skeleton were flashing in my head, I didn’t have any intention of bending down further. I thought that after this incident, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to visit the southern part of the country or the eastern continent where Arang is said to have come from before becoming a Death Knight.
“The Vatican is still impossible. Only priests can enter there. You can take a look outside, but shall we go today?”
Glodia suggested it with a sense of apology for not being able to buy clothes right away because it is not immediately known whether or not to hire an assistant instructor.
“Is the Holy See special from the outside? If not, that’s fine.”
Ed jokingly mentioned the Holy See, but Glodia didn’t take it seriously.
“I feel like it’s sacred. I’ll go with you.”
“All right.”
Since the two of them had their next destination, the pace of eating lunch gained momentum. Together, the two of them ate 10,000 energy, a truly cost-effective meal, and the two stood up and headed to the Vatican, opposite the Cetin Divine Academy.
*
If you were an ordinary necromancer, you had little chance or thought of leaving the North. Ed watched the Vatican from a distance, with only a little thanks to the Vaudemirs and other noble families for their tricks.
The place Glodia guided us to was a cafe with a clear view of the Holy See. Since Edgar is a necromancer, walking around the building would certainly look suspicious, so he chose to take in the view of the Holy See from afar. Because Ed knew the art of enhancing his eyesight, he was able to see the Pope’s palace in as much detail as he wanted from his unobstructed view.
“A lot of people worked together to make it.”
The first thing Ed saw and felt was harmony. The statues of gods in the square all looked different, embodying the characteristics of each religion. The Vatican seems to have been created by people from various religions, and they all harmonized together. Although each wall had a different style, the harmonious architecture that appeared to be the same from a distance was something a necromancer could not have imagined.
“When I was young, I came to watch it often, but I haven’t seen it in a long time.”
“Are the innkeepers, Mr. Grace and Mr. Glowyn, originally from here? Is this the inn run by the family?”
“Yes. I left the inn to my sister and my parents went on a trip. It’s been a little over a year, but they haven’t come back yet, so there’s so much to see.”
“Isn’t it good at inn mornings when your parents run the business?”
“That’s right. At that time, you had to pay for it and buy it separately, but it wasn’t bread and jam.”
Glodia laughed as she thought of the first breakfast she had made her own when her sister inherited the inn. My parents had never seen my sister cook, so I waited and waited to see how they would deal with it, but the price was lowered and the quality drastically lowered. After that, some long-term stayers brought bread, salad, and sausages to accompany them in the morning and added them in their own way. Most of them settled for breakfast with what they had and invested in lunch and dinner.
“What did Mr. Ed do in the North?”
I left the investigation to her, but for some reason she seemed to be able to find out about Ed now, so Glodia jumped on her luck. Ed thought about the question for a moment and said.
“Most of the Necromancers in the North are soldiers. I also had a job to block the monsters in the North. Then, there was someone who didn’t like me, so I came down without much thought after a quarrel.”
Ed divulged enough information that Glodia could understand, except for the fact that he was a super-class necromancer before.
“Ah. I see.”
After hearing Ed’s story, Glodia was able to deduce that ‘the person she looked down upon’ was a nobleman. Because he doesn’t like having the surname Edgar Frozenborn, even though he’s a commoner? As for the reason, Glodia decided not to delve deeply into the reason, knowing that, having been through all kinds of true aristocratic parents while being a professor at the academy, she knew that people would find fault with them over trivial things.
“So I didn’t have any plans, but Ms. Glodia suggested an option. I hope I can become an assistant instructor at Cetin.”
Ed laughed and said to Glodia.
“Um. It’s okay. I have a feeling it’s going to work for some reason.”
“Is that so? Can you recommend a store where you can buy a suit for Glodia? Even if you can’t become an assistant instructor, it’s better to buy a neat suit.”
“Okay. If I can safely become an assistant instructor tomorrow, shall I pay the bill?”
“No. It’s okay. Help is enough for the price of the room.”
“Then, is it enough to visit the Holy See? I will guide you to a good shop.”
Ed took one last look at the Holy See and stood up. The building was special, but I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t see the most special ‘Pope’ inside, but I was satisfied because it was an experience that an average necromancer would not be able to have.
Ed went to a cost-effective clothing store recommended by Glodia. Ed didn’t have any money, so he was a little suspicious that Glodia was only looking for cheap things.
Someone at the clothing store had placed an order and canceled it, but there was a suit that suited Ed’s physique, so he was able to try it on. He could wear it right away with some repairs, so he bought it right away, waited for it to be repaired, and returned to the purple moonlit night. Glowin was still there, looking at the counter with a drowsy look on his face.
“Is Glodia here? There was a call from Setin.”
“Really?! Sister, what did you say at Setin?”
Glowin spoke in a languid voice, and Glodia jumped in response.
“I heard that you must bring a necromancer tomorrow?”
“You’re asking me to bring it in a good way, right? If I’m eliminated, won’t you tell me not to bring it? Huh? Right?”
He gave only a little information, but after seeing his brother find the right answer, Glowwin smiled and added a word.
“Since Principal Enild Setin Quasar said it, you’ll probably see and judge.”
“The principal? Were you at Cetin today?”
When Ed heard the word principal, he asked Glodia just in case.
“Is the principal a woman with white blonde hair?”
Ed couldn’t describe the woman any further than that, perhaps because he saw her from a distance, but he thought it was enough to see the change in Glodia’s expression.
“That’s right! Have you seen Mr. Ed?”
“Yes. He was pointing the spear of light at me.”
“The Holy Light Spear? Uh. Then….”
Glodia’s mind became confused as she recognized another piece of information Ed had thrown at her. Holy Light Spear, which is learned in the third year in preparation for the Necromancer Battle, is a high-level magic that less than 10% of students can learn. A magic with that much lethal power was aimed at Ed?
“Still, since I didn’t shoot him, wouldn’t it mean that Mr. Ed got out of Cetin unharmed? Didn’t he pass?”
Glowin immediately cooled Glodia’s complicated mind.
“I think so… Mr. Ed, I think things will go well tomorrow for some reason!”
Ed and Glowin burst into laughter when they saw Glodia showing a change in expression between heaven and hell at the words of the two people.
“I’m quite serious, why are you laughing!”
Seeing the two of them laughing, Glodia got angry and showed another expression.
***
The soldiers of the 7th Ranger Corps, who had left Ed, were enjoying their time. Last year or year of production, when Ed was in the position of captain, he began to deal with ‘seeds’ from around this time. They went on more patrols than other guerrilla groups in order to hunt down guys who could become Gigant-level monsters. They patrolled more times than other guerrilla groups and killed a lot of monsters, but no one liked it because even though they worked hard, nothing came back to the soldiers.
But this time, Captain Gray Bodemir ordered the same number of patrols as the other guerrillas. Feeling free now, the soldiers began to think that the commoner general was playing a live show to catch up with the nobles. Even Ed’s closest aide, who could put the brakes on it, handed in a letter of resignation, so the soldiers freely expressed their dissatisfaction with their former captain, Ed.
“Come to think of it, isn’t Captain Ed more mean to us because he’s not enough? Isn’t it 25 meters?”
“Yes. Qualifications. Actually, can you compare the Summoned Corps led by us with the one led by Captain Ed? They were all Death Knights.”
Seeing the appearance of the 7th Ranger from a distance, Gray Bodemir smiled with satisfaction. After spending some time here, it has already been decided that he, the head of the Bodemir family and a high-class necromancer, will go to a higher-level unit.
7 If you release the guerrillas comfortably, you praise yourself and curse at Ed, who fled from the north but still annoys you just thinking about it. How good is it? Gray directed the new adjutant to find a way to further reduce the 7th Ranger’s patrols.
In the North, the ‘seed’ has begun to grow rapidly.
