The Eth Chronicles

Chapter 5: Ethermal's Transformation

Ethermal roared with life as its transformation climaxed. A surge of raw, unbridled mana accumulated since the start of evolution erupted from the planet's core, rising like a luminous tide, and bathed the world in a brilliant azure glow. The ground trembled as the earth's surface stretched, expanding until it had doubled in size. Towering trees, their trunks thick as ancient monuments, pierced the sky, their branches weaving a dense canopy that cloaked the heavens in a sea of emerald.

The air shimmered, filled with a purity never before known, heavy with mana's scent—fresh and intoxicating, yet brimming with raw power. Gravity intensified, but the recent evolution of the world's inhabitants masked its weight, their bodies stronger, more resilient.

Mountains surged higher, their rocky faces becoming colossal, jagged fortresses. Valleys deepened, rivers widened, and lakes sparkled like molten sapphires, holding the world's reflection in their depths. The planet was alive, its heartbeat resonating with those who had evolved, now as one with its rebirth.

Above this transformed world, two figures clashed: a humanoid alien with piercing slit-like eyes at his forehead and a draconic behemoth with spiraling horns. They danced through the sky like meteors, each strike shaking the heavens, their powers clashing in a storm of energy and fury. Neither faltered; each attack grew stronger, faster, more devastating. Yet, their battle was oblivious to the planet's upheaval. Each strike, a declaration of supremacy. Each breath, a vow to dominate.

The world settled into an eerie calm, the turbulence of evolution giving way to an almost divine serenity. From their slumber, the 9 family heads awoke. Each sensed the monumental changes around them and stepped out into a world reborn. Mountains they once knew as mere hills now loomed like ancient titans, their surfaces tougher, their peaks piercing the clouds. Yet, the family heads were unfazed, their only concern their own interests and power.

Karl, the Vampire Progenitor and head of the rank one family, stood atop the highest peak. His blood-red eyes, deep as rubies, glimmered with an otherworldly light, and his sharp, elegant features gave him an allure that was both deadly and captivating. His presence was a beacon, his aura rippling out like a shockwave, summoning the other family heads to his side.

Elsewhere, the monster emperors felt a chill that no mana surge could explain. Turning their monstrous heads, their eyes widened in horror: Alex stood there, an embodiment of all elements, a cascade of fire, water, lightning, and earth swirling around him like a divine tempest.

Their fear was palpable. Though they were mighty beings, standing at Tier 1, they understood the hierarchy of power. The gap between them and the Elemental Paragon was a chasm they could not bridge, even though they were all at Tier 1.

After awakening, Alex felt the call for a meeting between the family heads but ignored it for the time being—his family was more important right now.

His lips curled into a smirk, his eyes glinting with an almost ethereal light. "You think you can challenge me?" he whispered, his voice a calm promise of devastation.

He raised his hand. "Let there be light."

Above him, a miniature sun blazed into existence, radiating heat so intense it warped the very air. It grew larger, searing white-hot, its edges flickering with solar flares. The monsters' eyes widened in horror, the light reflecting in their wide, disbelieving gazes.

The ball of light descended.

Monsters shrieked, claws flailing, but the light consumed them. The air was filled with the roar of energy, the screams of the vanquished, and the scent of obliteration. When the radiance subsided, there was nothing—no ash, no remnants. Just scorched earth, a testimony to their annihilation.

But the light had not been selective. It surged toward the Lee family, their eyes wide with terror.

Alex moved faster than thought, a blur of elemental energy, standing as a shield before his family. The light seared his flesh, smoke rising from his skin, but he stood firm, protecting them.

When the light dissipated, silence fell. The battlefield was a wasteland, but his family stood untouched.

Alex collapsed to his knees, the weight of his power and sacrifice heavy upon him. He barely had time to breathe before Rose tackled him, knocking him to the ground. Tears streamed down her face as she clung to him.

"I thought... I thought I'd lost you," she sobbed, her voice breaking. "I thought I'd die before you woke up."

Alex wrapped his arms around her, his strength gentler than the raging power he'd just unleashed. "You're safe," he whispered, his voice a balm to her anguish. "I'm here."

Around them, the Lee elders, Alex's sons, and the Lee soldiers stood as silent witnesses to their love, their smiles reflecting the profound moment of relief and unity.

At the summit of the transformed mountain, the nine family heads stood in a circle, their presence commanding and formidable. Each scrutinized the others, their gazes sharp and penetrating, silently gauging power levels and potential threats. Though they all stood at the pinnacle of their realms, it wasn't raw strength that would decide dominance—it was their unique abilities and mastery.

Greg, the Human Progenitor, felt a simmering tension. Unlike the others, he lacked supernatural powers, yet his physical prowess was unparalleled. Despite this, his presence here, surrounded by beings wielding elemental and mystical forces, felt almost surreal. His eyes narrowed, catching the predatory gaze of Karl, the Vampire Progenitor. Karl's blood-red eyes gleamed with a dangerous hunger, sizing Greg up like prey. Disgust curled in Greg's gut, but fear was absent. He welcomed the challenge.

Karl, sensing the silent defiance, smirked. Without warning, he lunged forward with superhuman speed, his figure a blur of motion. Conversations among the other family heads halted abruptly; their eyes locked onto the impending clash, eager to witness the confrontation.

But Greg was ready. Instinctively, his body entered a heightened state of martial focus. Time seemed to slow, every movement of Karl's assault clear and deliberate. As the vampire's hand shot out, aiming to seize Greg's head, Greg pivoted with fluid precision. He caught Karl's wrist and, with a surge of immense strength, twisted his arm and hurled him to the ground.

A deafening thud echoed as Karl crashed into the earth, a cloud of dust rising around him. When it settled, Karl lay bloodied but grinning, his wounds already knitting together. The rapid regeneration was astonishing—cuts closed, bruises faded, and within moments, he was on his feet, rolling his neck as if nothing had happened.

"Impressive counter," Karl said, his voice both admiring and challenging, a predatory gleam in his eyes.

Greg's muscles tensed, ready for the next exchange. But before they could continue, the other family heads intervened.

"Enough," said Luminara, her voice calm but firm, the light radiating from her form casting a soft glow. "We didn't gather here for petty contests. Let's begin the meeting and return to our territories."

The tension lingered in the air, but grudgingly, Karl stepped back, the predatory glint fading. Greg released a slow breath, his stance relaxing but his eyes never leaving the vampire.
