The Eternal Dao Sect: Legacy of Chaos

Chapter 33: Chapter 30:The Battle For The Portal

Heavy tension filled the air as the combined forces of the Eternal Dao Sect and their newly found allies stood at the edge of the stronghold of the Mellians. Energy crackled through the air, and the ominous glow of the portal lit the battlefield, a beacon of despair. Now was the moment-the one that would set in stone the fate of their world.

Jayson stood at the front, his Chaos Sword shimmering with an unearthly glow. Standing next to him were some of his best friends: Diane, Victor, Mike, Cindy, and Joyner. All were marked by innumerable battles, their visages set with a stern resolve.

"This is going to be a fight like no other," Jayson said, his voice steady despite the weight of the moment. "Stick together, watch each other's backs, and don't let fear take hold."

Victor nodded, his shield strapped tightly to his arm. "We've come too far to falter now. Whatever lies beyond that portal, we'll face it together."

Diane firmed her grasp over the hilts of her twin blades, her eyes scanning the horizon. "They're coming."

---

The final

From out of the shadows of the Mellian encampment, the alien creatures emerged in force. The rows upon rows of Mellians, metallic bodies glittering beneath the portal's ghostly glow, moved ahead with mechanical precision. Among the enhanced Mellians, towering monstrosities with razor-sharp claws and glowing cores that pulsed with unnatural energy, advanced.

Standing at the center of the enemy ranks was the dark-armored figure from their visions. Its very presence was an overwhelming feeling of dread as it focused its glowing eyes on the approaching humans.

He lifted his hand, and the Mellians surged forward like a tidal wave.

"For the Eternal Dao Sect!" Jayson shouted, raising his sword high.

The battle erupted in a clash of steel and energy.

---

Chaos on the Battlefield

Victor charged forward, his shield absorbing the brunt of the Mellians' attacks as his axe swung in deadly arcs. Beside him, Diane moved like a shadow, her blades slicing through the enemy with lethal precision.

Mike's spear wove patterns in the air as its tip shone bright with spiritual energy, aiming for the cores of the enhanced Mellians. "These things just don't stop coming!" he exclaimed, frustration mingling with determination.

Fighting beside him, Cindy launched a plethora of elemental attacks: her control over fire and wind sent devastating effects through the ranks of the enemy. "Focus on the cores! It's the only way to take them down!"

Jayson, right in the eye of the storm, was exchanging blows with an enhanced Mellian. A claw swiped through the air millimeters from his face; he ducked beneath it and dove forward with a strong swing of the Chaos Sword. It cleaved through the core of the Mellian, and collapsed into a heap of lifeless metal.

Joyner wielded a huge hammer that shimmered with spiritual energy as he crunched his way through the army ranks with every thunderous swing. "We need to reach the portal before they overwhelm us!" he thunderously bellowed.

---

A New Threat

The figure, armored in dark steel, stepped into the battlefield and moved at impossible velocities, suddenly materializing before Jayson.

So, you are the leader of this pathetic resistance, the figure said in a cold, mocking tone.

Jayson's grip on his sword tightened. "And you must be one of the Dark Apostles."

The figure laughed. "Dark Apostle? Is that what you have decided to call us? Quaint.

Without warning, the Apostle struck, its blade flashing against Jayson's Chaos Sword with a power that sent ripples across the battleground. The sheer power of it all forced Jayson to take a step back, his feet digging into the dirt while he fought to maintain his balance.

"You are strong," the Apostle said, its tone almost bored. "But strength alone will not save your world."

---

Pushing Forward

While Jayson was keeping the Apostle busy, his friends charged on to the portal.

Diane launched into the forefront of the attack, dodging and weaving with ease, courtesy of her agility. She was at the base of the portal, her blades moving deftly as they cut away the Mellians who dared block her path.

Victor and Cindy joined her, the three working together to hold the position. "We need to disrupt the portal's energy flow!" Cindy shouted, her hands glowing as she prepared a powerful spell.

Mike and Joyner arrived moments later, their combined strength clearing a path for the rest of the allied forces.

"Whatever you're going to do, do it fast!" Mike said, his spear spinning in a defensive arc.

---

Jayson's Struggle

Meanwhile, Jayson was fighting the Apostle with more vigor, each attack in a speed and strength he had never experienced, each strike stronger than the last, which had him nearing the very limits of his endurance.

"Is that all?" the Apostle taunted him as it continued to attack. "I expected more from the so-called protectors of this world."

Jayson refused to budge, his teeth clenched. Summoning the last shred of strength, he sent a surging burst of Chaos Energy to make the Apostle give ground for some time.

"You talk too much," Jayson said with an even voice despite his utter exhaustion.

The Apostle laughed. "Perhaps. But let's see how long you can keep this up."

---

Turning Point

Then, at the portal, Cindy finished her spell and shot a surge of energy into its core. The portal fluttered and pulsed for a second, its glow coming down.

"It's working!" Diane shouted. "Keep it up!"

The Mellians, sensing the danger, began focusing their attacks on the group at the portal. Victor quickly raised his shield to protect Cindy as she continued her work.

Mike and Joyner fought desperately, their weapons a blur as they held at bay the bad guys.

---

Victory and Sacrifice

The collapse of the energy within the portal resulted in chaos upon the battlefield. The Mellians are now moving about erratically due to their portal link being broken.

Jayson saw an opportunity and launched a last and fierce attack on the Apostle. The Chaos Sword shone as it struck, driving the Apostle back.

"This isn't over," the Apostle said, its voice echoing as it disappeared into the shadows.

The portal collapsed with a loud crash; the remaining Mellians fell lifeless, their bodies crumpling to the ground.

The battlefield grew silent. All that could be heard was the heavy breathing of survivors.

A Moment of Reflection

As the dust settled, Jayson and his friends regrouped at the portal remains.

"We did it," Diane said, her voice filled with relief.

Victor nodded, his shield dented but still in hand. "For now."

Jayson stared at the wreckage, his thoughts heavy. "This was just the beginning. The Dark Apostles won't stop here."

Mike placed a hand on his shoulder. "Then we'll be ready for them. No matter what comes next."

As the group stood together, the realization of their victory was tempered by the knowledge of the greater battle that lay ahead.

The fight was far from over.
