Chapter 26: Chapter 23: The Unveiling Of Secrets
The revelation of the Dark Apostle sent shivers down to the core of the Eternal Dao Sect. Jayson and his friends were much stronger by then, yet the encounter was a stark reminder that many more unknowns awaited. The Mellians-who were then considered the pinnacle of the threat-were nothing more than mere pawns of a larger force, with their world serving only as a testing bed.
As dawn loomed over Sacred Mount, the Eternal Dao Sect was gathered in the main hall. All warriors, elders, and disciples stood at attention, determination and a hint of fear on their faces. Before them stood the leaders of the sect: Jayson, Diane, Mike, Joyner, and Victor, each oozing an air of command procured only through trials and sacrifice.
Jayson stepped forward, his Chaos Sword strapped to his back. "The Mellians were only the beginning," he began, his voice steady but firm. "We've encountered their creators, beings who call themselves the Dark Apostles. They are stronger, smarter, and more dangerous than anything we've faced before. But they made one mistake—they underestimated us."
The murmurs exploded into the crowd, mixed with fear and resolve. Diane stood up, raising her hand to silence them. "This is not a time to despair," she said, confident in every word. "We have prepared for this day for five years. The Dark Apostles may be powerful, but so are we. Together we face what is to come, and secure our world's survival."

War Council
In a war chamber filled with strategy, all the leaders of the Eternal Dao Sect were gathered. Their world dominated the center of the room in the form of a large map; known points of Mellian activity and suspected Dark Apostle ruins were marked upon it.
We know nothing," Joyner said, furrowing his brow. "We have seen only one Dark Apostle, and we know very little. If we're going to stand a chance, we need to understand our enemy."
Victor nodded. "Agreed. We send scouting teams into the ruins where the Mellians were first found. There may be clues as to what the Dark Apostles plan, or weaknesses they might have.
Diane tapped on the table, her finger in deep reflection. "That's risky-the ruins could trap us, or worse, one of the Dark Apostates might be awaiting us."
"We don't have a choice," Jayson said, firm in his persuasion. "If we wait, they will come to us at a time of their choosing. Now is the moment when we would have the most element of surprise working in our interest.
Mike leaned back in his chair, his spear resting against the table. "Then it's decided. We'll split into teams. Some of us will investigate the ruins, while the others fortify the sect and rally our allies."

Expedition to the Unknown
Jayson, Diane, Mike, and a small contingent of elite warriors set out to investigate the ruins where they had encountered the Dark Apostle. The lands beyond Sacred Mount were filled with danger, for everywhere there were mutated beasts that had been left behind by the Mellians.
First of all would be the Ruins of Valros-lots of really ancient stuff, way older than the Mellians. The air grew thick with unnatural energy as they approached. Ancient stonework tangled through and around alien technology showed the clear presence of the Mellians in these ruins.
"This place feels. wrong," Diane whispered; her Radiant Mirror pulsed weakly.
Mike tightened his grip on his spear. "Stay sharp. If the Mellians left anything behind, it's not going to be friendly."
The deeper they went into the ruins, the weirder the inscriptions on the walls became. They were faintly glowing, pulsating in some sort of eerie, soft light. Jayson stepped forward; his Chaos Sword hummed in resonance.
These markings." he muttered, tracing his fingers along the symbols. "It's a mix of Mellian and Dark Apostle designs. Like they were experimenting with something here."
The ground shook, and part of the wall collapsed to reveal a secret chamber. Inside it, a big machine hummed softly, its surface etched with glowing runes.
"What is that?" Diane asked in barely a whisper.
Jayson was more cautious, approaching the machine. "It's some sort of… portal. I think the Mellians used it to bring their forces here."
Before anybody could say another word, though, the runes flared into life, and the machine began humming louder. A vortex of energy began to swirl in the heart of it, and from its center emerged several Mellians. Their bodies were sleeker, now upgraded with more advanced technology.
"Defensive positions!" shouted Jayson as he drew the Chaos Sword.
The battle was intense: the Mellians were fighting in a manner no others had seen, swift and their attacks in coordination. Still, the Eternal Dao Sect had been preparing for five whole years.
Diane's Radiant Mirror deflected a barrage of energy blasts as Mike's spear pierced through the defenses of the closest Mellian. Jayson unleashed a devastating wave of chaotic energy, tearing through the ranks of their enemies.
As the last Mellian fell, the group stood panting, their weapons bloodied but their resolve unbroken.
As the dust settled, the machine belched out a weak, metallic voice. The message was garbled and distorted, but unmistakable:
"This… is only the beginning. The Dark Apostles… are watching. Your resistance… is futile."
Jayson tightened his fists, his clenched jaw set in a firm statement of resolve. "Let them watch," he said. "We will show them what happens when they underestimate us."

The Gathering Storm
Back at Sacred Mount, the report of the scouting team sent shockwaves throughout the sect. The discovery of the portal confirmed their worst fears-the Mellians were still active, and the Dark Apostles were preparing for a full-scale invasion.
Jayson called an emergency meeting of the sect's leaders. "We need to close these portals," he said. "If we can cut off their supply lines, we'll have a chance to turn the tide.
Diane nodded. "Agreed, but we also must make our alliances more robust. The clans have remained silent since the revelation about the Mellian threat was presented, and they need to know that this is anything but over."
Victor came forward. "I will lead the delegation to the clans. And if they don't go along willingly, then we shall remind them of what the alternatives are.
Mike grinned, twirling his spear. "And we'll keep smashing every Mellian and Dark Apostle in our path until they realize this world isn't theirs to take."
As the Eternal Dao Sect prepared for the battles to come, the stakes had never been higher. The Dark Apostles were watching, and the war for their world was about to begin.
