The Dual Cultivating War God

Chapter 4: Chapter 3: Prove Your Worth

Shen Tian felt the power surging within him, his muscles no longer aching, his mind sharper than ever. The system's healing had worked wonders, and for the first time since waking up in this body, he felt in control.

But Elder Liu was still here. And she wasn't convinced.

She ran a single finger along his jawline, her sharp nails pressing into his skin. "You seem… different," she murmured, her dark eyes scrutinizing him like a hunter watching wounded prey.

Shen Tian forced himself to remain calm. The old Shen Tian would have trembled, would have begged, but he was not the same man. He had lived another life—one of freedom, lust, and modern indulgence. He knew how to play the game.

And this world was no different.

A smirk tugged at his lips. "Disappointed that I'm still alive, Elder Liu?" His voice was smooth, confident.

Elder Liu's eyes widened slightly, before narrowing in suspicion. "So, the little worm has grown a spine?" She let go of his chin and crossed her arms. "You must have some hidden potential after all. Maybe it was a mistake to discard you so soon…"

Her words were laced with amusement, but Shen Tian could tell—she was reconsidering his worth.

A notification flashed in his mind.

[Ding! System Quest Activated!]

• Quest: Prove Your Worth

• Objective: Impress Elder Liu and avoid being discarded.

• Reward: +10 Yin Absorption Efficiency, +5 Body Tempering Proficiency

Shen Tian's mind worked quickly. He needed to act fast—prove that he wasn't the weak, disposable disciple they thought he was.

His body was still chained, but the system's healing had restored his strength. He tested the metal bindings, feeling how they resisted but weren't completely unbreakable.

He needed to sell it.

Shen Tian took a deep breath, relaxing his body as if resigning himself. "Perhaps I was weak before… but I won't let myself be discarded so easily."

Elder Liu arched a brow. "Oh? And what exactly can you offer?"

Shen Tian met her gaze head-on. "More than you expect."

A flicker of amusement danced across her face. "Interesting. Very well, prove it."

With a deep exhale, Shen Tian summoned every ounce of energy within him and yanked at the chains. His muscles strained, veins bulging. A crack echoed in the dimly lit chamber.

Elder Liu's expression shifted from curiosity to mild surprise. "Oh?"

Another pull. The chains groaned.

[Strengthening host's physical resilience…]

A final burst of effort—snap!

One of the restraints shattered. His wrist was free.

Elder Liu's lips curled into a smirk. "You just might be entertaining after all." She stepped closer, reaching out.

Shen Tian's heartbeat quickened. He had caught her attention. Now, he just had to make sure he never became a disposable pawn again.
