Chapter 1361: Looking For The Imposters
Arad lay on the bed, looking at Merlin and Amber by his sides. Sena said that two Mana Drakainas are close. Did she mean in the university or here in Alina? He had scanned the area several times and couldn't locate them.
Arad usually has disgustingly powerful senses, especially when he's actively looking for something.
Right now, he had checked every maid and servant in the castle and didn't find anything. But he had done that with his magic. Since they are Mana Drakainas, they probably can hide from that with ease.
It is quite distressing to know that two powerful drakainas had been posted in his castle all this time without him even noticing them. Being weaker than them and losing in a battle was one thing, but not even sensing them was even worse.
"What's the matter?" Merlin looked at him with a worried face, "Your magic had been pulsing a lot. Are you looking for something?"
"Since you noticed, that means what I'm looking for probably did the same and went into hiding." Arad smiled, "Nice, now that means I have to be careful when looking as well."
He sat up and looked around. The room was unusually empty. The maids who usually stood at the walls were now outside in the hallway, thanks to all the heat Amber released.
"I'll be back soon." He stood, put on his robe, and walked out. As he expected, all the maids were waiting just outside the door. He glanced at them as he walked past, his eyes looking at their faces, necks, hands, and feet, looking for scales or shimmers of magic.
One of the maids had faint scales on her body, but those were black scales that looked more like freckles. She had the blood of a black dragon running through her veins.
Another maid also seemed to have a strong spark of magic, but she was a wizard. That magic was there to keep her clothes straight without the need to iron them.
The two drakainas weren't among the maids in his room.
"Merlin is already cooling the room with magic. You can go clean up inside." He said, and the maids rushed back inside to work. He, on the other hand, headed deeper into the castle.
First, he visited the nearest room to him, the room where Cerilla and Jasmine slept.
The room was similar to Arad's quarter, being just as massive and close by. Cerilla and Jasmine shared that room, and each of them took half. The moment Arad approached, the two elvish women standing at the door bowed to him gently so their armor wouldn't rattle.
"Lord Arad!" One greeted him, and he smiled, "I'm looking for something. Do you mind if I see your hands?"
The two elvish knights immediately palled, and they looked at each other. "Did something happen?"
Arad looked at them for a second and then realized what he said. To elves, their hands and feet are the same as butts and chests to humans. "No, sorry. Your faces alone would do. What I'm looking for is traces of magic."
He looked at them for a moment and noticed some magic, but it didn't seem like anything a dragon could use. And neither of them had any scales. But, who knows, scales appear randomly on the body. While their faces are clean, their bodies beneath the armor might not be.
One of the knights then looked at the door, "There are more inside. I'll go ask them." She opened the door and walked inside. She then quickly returned back and allowed Arad to enter the room.
The inside of the room was split with a long silk drape. Cerilla's bed was on one side, while Jasmine's bed was on the other side.
Cerilla had just woke up and was stretching on her bed, naked as she usually sleeps that way. She was the one who let Arad inside. Her guards, ten fully armored knights, all women, were wide awake and standing at the ready beside the walls.
"Sorry, I told them to let you inside no matter what. But they still love to come and ask me first." She yawned, and Arad sighed. "They are right to ask you first."
"Who's there? Arad!" Jasmine woke up on the other side of the room and rushed to them. Unlike Cerilla, who slept naked, Jasmine slept in her underwear and hugged a long pillow. Her guards were the same as Cerilla's guards, all women and fully armored.
"I'm looking for two people. My only clues are traces of magic and maybe some bodily features if I'm lucky. I suspect they are among the maids, servants, or guards." Arad asked, and the two elvish queen looked at each other and then turned toward their guards.
Cerilla spoke first, "Heard him! Strip down and half all magical defenses."
"Same here! And stand with your hands and feet apart!" Jasmine yelled at her guards almost at the same time.
"Wait! There is no need for that." But sadly, Arad was already too late. By that moment, all of the guards had already stripped down and were standing at the ready. The faint magic Arad noticed earlier was storage magic.
All of the elvish knights can store and equip their weapons and armor directly from magical storage.
"Don't worry about them." Cerilla waved her hand, "They are fine with this."
"You're the one speaking." Arad looked at her and sighed, rubbing his face.
"You!" Cerilla pointed at one of the guards, "I could hear you all talking. I don't usually fall asleep that quickly. Tell him what you were talking about earlier."
All of her guards froze, and one of them looked away. She then mumbled, "We could hear faint moans in the distance coming from his room, and I was telling her." She pointed at the guards beside her, "How it would be fun when it's the queen's turn."
Cerilla stared at her, "I meant the part after that."
"I said that I wanted to try and suck Lord Arad's toes when that time comes."
Cerilla smiled, "I hand-picked them up for this job. So don't worry, most of them are here because they wanted it."
After a deep sigh, Arad went and inspected all of the guards. Sadly, none of them was a drakaina. He was a bit disappointed, but not like the guards who didn't get to suck his toes tonight.
Arad then made his way to the next room. Isdis's room.
