Chapter 13: Chapter 8.2
Chapter 8.2: The Big Decision
The sound of laughter filled the living room as the two families gathered for dinner. Mr. Junior and Mrs. Collen had been inseparable over the past few months, spending countless hours together while Lisa and Franclon bonded in their own way online. But tonight felt different. There was a seriousness in the air, an unspoken decision hanging over everyone's heads.
As they finished dessert, Mr. Junior cleared his throat and glanced at Mrs. Collen. She gave him a small nod, encouraging him to speak.
"So," Mr. Junior began, looking at both families. "We've been talking for a while now about… taking the next step. Moving to Bristol, where Mrs. Collen lives, so that we can be together."
Lisa's eyes widened, and she looked over at Franclon. He had the same stunned expression, though he quickly masked it. It wasn't that he didn't see this coming—he'd sensed his father's deepening feelings for Mrs. Collen. But the reality of it still hit him hard.
"What does that mean for us?" Franclon asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
"Well, it means a new start," Mrs. Collen explained, her voice gentle. "But we also want to make sure you two are comfortable with everything. We know it's a big change."
Franclon exchanged a look with Lisa. Their friendship had become one of his few sources of comfort. Moving to her hometown sounded exciting on one hand, but it also felt strange to imagine their families blending so completely.
"You don't have to worry about us," Lisa finally spoke up, her gaze flickering to her mother and Mr. Junior. "As long as you two are happy, that's what matters."
Mr. Junior looked touched. "Thank you, Lisa. And Franclon, you've always been my priority, so if there's anything you're worried about—"
Franclon hesitated. "I just… I don't want things to get complicated between Lisa and me, you know?"
They all laughed, easing the tension in the room. Mrs. Collen reached over to squeeze Mr. Junior's hand. "We're here for each other, and we'll work through any challenges together."
After more heartfelt exchanges, they ended the evening with a sense of cautious optimism. There were going to be adjustments, for sure. But for now, they were choosing love, and the promise of a future they all could build together.
