Chapter 8
Yu Qingxian had visited twice before, but on her third visit, she capsized her boat and ended up sinking to the bottom of the water.
If she were alive, she might have drowned.
However, she emerged from the pool and managed to drag the small boat to higher ground.
Then she pushed the swaying zombies nearby into the boat and secured them with seatbelts before getting on herself.
Yu Qingxian instinctively reached out to catch the zombies' eyes that had fallen out of their sockets due to the rocking motion.
Once the boat stabilized, she put their eyes back in place.
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize your eye sockets couldn't hold your eyes anymore."
Indeed, in the current weather, these zombies, deprived of fresh flesh and blood, would gradually decay.
The few zombies she had brought along were quite rotten.
She walked while pulling them, and if she gave them a nudge, they would flop onto the small boat.
As for the zombies that hadn't decayed like herself, they were stubborn and couldn't be pulled over.
Each of them had a strong personality.
Yu Qingxian watched as the innards of these zombies were nearly knocked out, so she stopped bothering with them.
She pushed them off the boat.
Then she went on to experience all the popular attractions in the area.
Although she was the only conscious person in the entire park, Yu Qingxian didn't feel lonely.
Instead, she felt at ease.
She was free to do anything she wanted.
After she had experienced all the popular facilities, it was getting dark.
Since she had explored this place enough, it was time to move on to the next location.
However, just as she was about to leave, she unexpectedly saw a convoy of vehicles heading towards the hot spring park.
Yu Qingxian was curious about what these people were doing here.
The hot spring park wasn't a storage place for essential supplies.
Besides hot springs, there were various entertainment facilities.
Of course, there were also quite a few zombies.
But they could be found anywhere, so there was no need to come to a tourist area specifically.
Yu Qingxian didn't dare stay inside the house and instead walked into the forest.
If it weren't for the fact that the hot spring pool was visible from a glance, she would have felt safer lying in the water.
She looked at the trees and the soil.
Was Gu Wanqing here?
It would be better to bury her in the soil.
That way, even if someone stepped on her face, she wouldn't feel a thing.
Yu Qingxian's mind wandered.
Finally, she found a vantage point with a good view and secretly observed what these people were up to.
It wasn't until she saw that they were dressed in military uniforms that she realized this wasn't an ordinary operation.
Since it was a military unit, it must have been a high-level mission.
But what could this tourist area offer?
Of course, because it was nighttime, the zombies were more agile than during the day.
So for now, they were only dealing with the zombies wandering outside.
Then they set up camp outside.
They would use night vision drones to count the number of zombies before making a plan for a full-scale assault during the day.
Yu Qingxian wondered if the drones would capture her as well.
With that in mind, she broke off several branches and covered herself, hoping to block their line of sight.
Even if it was an infrared drone, as a dead person, she shouldn't be able to sense it.
As the unmanned aerial vehicle flew towards her, Yu Qingxian's gaze suddenly swept over a figure.
It wasn't a zombie, but a human.
And Yu Qingxian recognized this person.
It was the young girl from the small village.
It was mainly because of that baseball bat that had left a deep impression on Yu Qingxian.
This little girl had actually followed her up here!
How did she manage to keep up?
Yu Qingxian had no idea at all.
If it weren't for the military presence, she probably wouldn't have noticed the girl.
If she had been hit by that baseball bat, she would have bid farewell to the world.
---
Without thinking, Yu Qingxian threw away the branch and headed towards the back of the mountain.
She needed to leave this place. As for where to go, she would figure it out once she reached a safe location.
So, Yu Qingxian circled around the back of the mountain and headed towards the city.
For Yu Qingxian, the more zombies there were in a place, the safer it was.
After walking for two or three hours, she finally left the hot spring resort area.
But even after reaching the city, Yu Qingxian still roamed around.
Although her eyesight was indeed good, she couldn't see things in the distance.
A telescope was something she needed to prepare. Otherwise, she wouldn't even know if she was being followed.
Fortunately, the girl didn't seem to have any intentions of harming her.
Otherwise, even if she had ten lives, it wouldn't be enough to withstand the girl's baseball bat.
While Yu Qingxian was rummaging through boxes and cabinets, she suddenly felt a ringing in her ears, and everything started spinning.
It felt like her eyeballs were about to pop out of their sockets.
But she didn't hear any sound.
Yu Qingxian patted her face and climbed up a several-story-high building with the telescope in hand.
She couldn't hear, but she was definitely affected. That meant it was some kind of sonic attack.
Now that this place was free of zombies and close to the border, perhaps it would become a garrison site.
Well, the world was chaotic now.
But the territory couldn't be violated.
That hot spring resort area was indeed the most suitable place for a garrison.
The area was large, and the walls had been specially designed to prevent tourists from sneaking in.
That was why the zombies inside couldn't come out, and the zombies outside couldn't get in.
If they could eliminate the zombies in the hot spring area, it would be a pretty good place for a border garrison.
It was less than fifty kilometers from this place to the border.
As long as they installed the equipment, anyone who crossed the border would be immediately captured.
Yu Qingxian used the telescope to look towards the area of the resort.
Sure enough, she saw a truck pulling a dark piece of equipment.
Although Yu Qingxian didn't recognize what it was, she knew it was definitely dangerous.
Yu Qingxian felt fortunate that she could run fast; otherwise, her eyeballs and tongue might be rolling on the ground right now.
If someone was at the center of that sound wave, the zombies and even animals with sensitive hearing would be completely immobilized.
As long as the zombies' movements were controlled, they would be easy to kill.
Once the silencer was attached and some target practice was done, the shots shouldn't go astray.
Yu Qingxian held the telescope and looked down at the road below the mountain.
Then she saw an off-road vehicle.
Yu Qingxian: "..."
Little sister, why are you everywhere?
But now, the military emblem was displayed on the vehicle's body.
It was evident that Gu Wanqing was a soldier.
No wonder her marksmanship was so impressive.
She was a professional.
Gu Wanqing drove her off-road vehicle towards the scenic area.
Yu Qingxian scratched her head, almost pulling out strands of hair along with her scalp.
Now that she was already dead, if her hair fell out, there would be no way for it to grow back.
She definitely didn't want to become a bald zombie.
Yu Qingxian quickly reached up and pressed her scalp.
Then she put the binoculars in her backpack, turned around, and headed downstairs.
What's going on?
She was clearly heading to the side, and yet she encountered so many people.
Doesn't that mean she has to go inland?
There are stationed troops along the border, so it's easy to run into the military.
Halfway through, Yu Qingxian sat on the steps and started flipping through the travel guide.
Next time, she would choose a more auspicious place.
With that thought, Yu Qingxian began strategizing on the map.
