The desperate Lovers

Chapter 22: CHAPTER 22

Chapter 22: A Love That Can't Be Broken

Isabella stood frozen, Alexander's confession still ringing in her ears. She was engaged to me… but she was also in love with another man.

The weight of those words crushed her chest, yet it was not just the past that unsettled her. It was the present—Victoria's sudden return, her cryptic words, and the undeniable fear lingering in Alexander's eyes.

She had never seen him like this before. Vulnerable. Guarded. Afraid.

And that terrified her.

Alexander stepped closer, his fingers gently tilting her chin up to meet his gaze. "I know this is a lot to take in, Isabella," he murmured, his voice raw with emotion. "But you have to believe me when I say that my heart belongs to you—only you."

She wanted to believe him. Desperately. But a small voice in her head whispered doubts she couldn't silence.

"What if she's back to take you away from me?" Isabella whispered. "What if she still loves you?"

His expression hardened, determination flashing in his dark eyes. "Then she's wasting her time. Because there is no force in this world that can make me stop loving you."

The intensity in his words made her breath hitch.

Alexander cupped her face in his hands, his thumbs gently caressing her cheeks. "You are my everything, Isabella. My heart, my future, my home. Nothing—no one—can change that."

She swallowed hard, emotion tightening her throat. "Then prove it," she whispered.

His gaze darkened with something deeper. Something primal.

"I intend to," he growled.

A Love That Consumes

Before she could process his words, his lips crashed onto hers with breathtaking urgency. It wasn't just a kiss—it was a promise, a vow that no past, no doubt, no Victoria could ever come between them.

Isabella melted into him, her arms wrapping around his neck as he deepened the kiss. His hands roamed over her back, pressing her closer, as if he wanted to merge their souls into one.

He lifted her effortlessly, carrying her to the bed, never breaking the connection between their lips. Laying her down gently, he hovered over her, his gaze filled with love, desire, and something infinitely tender.

"You're mine," he murmured, pressing soft kisses along her jawline. "Now. Tomorrow. Forever."

She shivered under his touch, her body awakening to his every caress. "And you're mine," she whispered back. "No matter what happens."

His lips found hers again, and in that moment, there was no past, no fears—only them.

Only this love.

The Calm Before the Storm

Hours later, Isabella lay curled against Alexander's chest, their bodies tangled beneath the sheets. He traced lazy patterns on her bare back, his touch sending shivers down her spine.

"I never want to let you go," he murmured.

"You never have to," she replied, pressing a soft kiss to his chest.

But even as she spoke the words, a lingering sense of unease settled in her heart. Because deep down, she knew Victoria wasn't done yet.

And the storm brewing on the horizon was far from over.
