The Delicate White Moonlight of The Paranoid Powerful Minister

Chapter 10: Afraid of Annoying the Younger Sister

“Younger Sister!” Liu Zhu’s face was anxious.

Liu Jiyu looked up and calmly glanced at her, “What is fifth sister upset about? I didn’t say anything.”

Yun Rumei sneered coldly. She then spat sharp words, “What else could she be upset about? Afraid of annoying little sister, right?”

It seems Yun Rumei also understood Liu Zhu’s thoughts. This had successfully made Liu Zhu’s face become pale. She gritted her teeth, but she couldn’t say anything to retort.

“Both of you, write twenty chapters of etiquette for me in five days. If I find them not good, you have to rewrite them.” Liu Jiluan glanced at them lightly, then added, “You’re becoming more and more lacking in etiquette.”

Yun Rumei was speechless and on the verge of tears, “Sister Luan…” she whimpered.

Liu Jiyu also felt like crying, looking up at her eldest sister with pleading eyes. However, Liu Jiluan just snorted and ignored them both.

Liu Jiyuan chuckled and looked at Liu Jiyu, saying, “Don’t underestimate your eldest sister. Even I don’t dare provoke her when she’s angry.”

Everyone who was present laughed at that remark.

Liu Jiluan’s face blushed slightly, “I’m also helpless. Who told them to be so stubborn.”

Yun Rumei, however, felt very wronged and looked at Liu Jiyu, saying, “It’s really rude of Shen Zhizhi. Firstly, she came late on Yinyin’s birthday, secondly, she was indifferent and has no sincerity at all. And thirdly, she threw the gift on the table without any respect for us. She was rude first.”

Liu Jiluan looked at her helplessly, saying, “Her rudeness is her own business, but if you’re rude, then I’ll have to intervene.”

Liu Jiyu sat there with a blank expression, realizing that writing in large characters was as difficult as climbing to the sky for her. Her handwriting was so ugly that it couldn’t pass off as decent.

Seeing her like this, Mei Jianxue turned to her and asked, “What’s wrong with you, Yinyin?”

“Don’t mind her. Her handwriting has always been so ugly that it’s unbearable to look at. Let’s see how she manages to finish writing twenty large characters,” Liu Jiluan said with a hint of amusement in her tone as she glanced at the girl.

Pouting, Liu Jiyu planned to find someone to teach her how to write, then she glanced around the room.

“Yinyin, do you want second brother to teach you?” Mei Shengxing asked, smiling at Liu Jiyu

Liu Jiyu was taken aback. She didn’t like to interact with the Mei brothers, knowing that they were both cunning and sly. However, Mei Shuyu, who was sitting beside him, lowered his gaze and clenched his hands on his knees.

“No… we won’t trouble second brother Mei,” Liu Jiyu said hesitantly, then turned her pleading gaze to Liu Jiyuan.

Seeing her look towards Liu Jiyuan, she pleaded, “Big Brother~”

Liu Jiuyuan chuckled lightly. He was about to speak, when Yun Rumei interjected, “Oh dear, I’ve seen third young master Mei’s handwriting, and it’s quite good. Yinyin, you should go find Mei Sanlang.”

Liu Jiyu: “???”

Liu Jiyu felt her scalp tingling. “This… wouldn’t it be too much trouble for Mei Sanlang?”

“Not at all,” the young man replied with a gentle look in his eyes.

Liu Jiyuan also nodded, “I think it’s a good idea. Mei Sanlang’s handwriting is indeed excellent and worthy of being Yinyin’s teacher.”

Liu Jiyu: But she’s not worthy of being his student…

Yun Rumei chimed in again, “And isn’t Mei Sanlang supposed to fly kites with Yinyin and me? During breaks from practicing calligraphy, she can watch Mei Sanlang fly kites. Isn’t that right?” Yun Rumei threw a glance at Mei Shuyu.

Mei Shuyu raised his gaze to Yun Rumei, smiling faintly, “That would be very good indeed.”

Liu Jiyu, however, felt like crying.

Yun Rumei smiled as she looked at Mei Shuyu, “What’s Mei Sanlang’s birthday gift for Yinyin?”

Liu Jiyu felt a twitch in her temple. Why did it seem like Yun Rumei was on Mei Shuyu’s side?

Mei Shuyu replied, “I haven’t given Yinyin her birthday gift yet, no rush.”

Yun Rumei nodded with an insinuating smile.

Liu Zhu asked her, “Why are you laughing, sister?” She was always straightforward in her thoughts.

Yun Rumei just chuckled, “I’m laughing because Mei Sanlang is so good to Yinyin.”

Hearing this, Liu Jiyu hurriedly interjected, “Of course, that’s good. Siblings who grew up together would naturally be good to each other.”

She deliberately emphasized the words “siblings who grew up together.” With that said, it drew an extra glance from the young man towards her. Liu Jiyu smiled wryly  but didn’t say anything.

“Please excuse this lowly maid. The old madam ordered lunch to be served. Please come to Xinyong Hall,” a maid came to notify the youngsters.

Upon hearing this, Liu Jiyuan smiled and said, “Let’s go, it’s time for lunch.”

Yun Rumei winked at Liu Jiyu and pulled her hand to leave.

Liu Jiyu rolled her eyes. She really wanted to know what was going on in Yun Rumei’s mind. Always dragging her and Mei Shuyu together with just a few words, what if others caught on?

The young man was already proud and strong-willed. If others found out he liked Liu Jiyu and got rejected, what mess would it become!

During lunch, the Shen siblings were still present, but Liu Jiyu pretended not to see them, accepting congratulations from others with a sweet smile. She felt like her face was about to freeze from all the smiling.

After lunch, Liu Jiyu chatted with the elders for a while before feeling sleepy. Seeing this, Madam Sui felt sorry for her and suggested, “Go back and rest for a while.”

Liu Jiyu sighed and respectfully bid farewell to the elders before leaving the hall.

“Seventh sister.”

Liu Jiyu heard someone calling her and turned to see it was Liu Suyuan, the legitimate child of the third branch, smiling as she approached.

“Fourth sister.” Liu Jiyu smiled gently as she approached. She handed Liu Jiyu a white jade box and said, “Mother has not been well these days, and I haven’t had much time to come by. This is a birthday gift from my brothers and me. Please don’t mind its humbleness.”

“Fourth sister, how could you say such a thing? How could I possibly mind it? Thank you to all of my brothers and sisters for thinking of me.” Liu Jiyu accepted the birthday gift with a genuinely grateful smile.

The third branch of the Liu family was indeed kind-hearted. Liu Jiyu sighed inwardly, lamenting the unfortunate ending of her previous life. She wondered if this life would follow the same path as the last.

The two exchanged a few words before finally bidding farewell and going their separate ways.

Standing still, with a calm expression, Liu Jiyu was trying to recall the events of her past life. However, as she was indulging herself in the past events of her past life, she was interrupted by someone calling her, “Yinyin!”

Frowning, Liu Jiyu looked at the Shen siblings who were walking towards her. She felt a headache coming on.

“Why did you have to talk about me in front of so many people today? Do you think I’m from a humble background and not worthy of your attention?” Shen Zhizhi’s face was displeased, and her words were particularly sharp.

Indeed, the Shen family was not comparable to the Liu family.

Liu Jiyu’s eyes suddenly turned red, “Miss Shen, you should be more restrained. It’s clear that you were in the wrong today, yet every word and sentence was pressing on me. It seems you don’t value this friendship much.”

Of course, Shen Zhizhi doesn’t value her friendship with Liu Jiyu. She only cares about Shen Huan anyway.

“Yinyin, don’t misunderstand. Zhizhi has been worrying and losing sleep for many nights just to prepare your birthday gift. The lapses in etiquette today were just her way of showing concern for you. Don’t take these formalities to heart.” Shen Huan patiently spoke with Liu Jiyu.

However, Liu Jiyu couldn’t help but smirk inwardly. Even if she and Yun Rumei had grown up together with an extremely close bond, they would never commit such a public impoliteness. This indicated that Shen Zhizhi either had intentions behind her actions or simply didn’t care.
