Chapter 10: Chapter 9 : Ordinary Loving Family
.
[Richan POV]
I was drowned in the darkness, drifting. I opened my eyes, but everything I saw so far was… darkness. There was nothing to see. So I closed my eyes, and suddenly, it began to feel a bit warmer. I also started to feel sleepy. Honestly, I still wanted to ask Black for many things I was curious about, but before I could ask more, he actually threw me outside the door like garbage; what an asshole.
.
The more I struggle to keep myself awake, the more sleepy I feel, to the point that I fall asleep in my dream.
.
.
I try to open my eyes, and what I see now is a ceiling. Then I sit up and realize that I am actually on top of a bed with curtains around me.
.
"Ugh, where am I?" I asked myself while still trying to collect myself, holding my head while feeling a bit dizzy. Then someone replied from the other side of the curtain, "On your school infirmary."
.
After that, someone I totally know opens the curtain, and Duran stands there with a sad and worried face, looking at me.
.
I looked surprised. Why was Duran here? I asked him, "Kakak? What are you doing here?" I said with a confused face, looking at him; after hearing what I said, Duran sighed and answered me, "Richan, you know that you're making everybody at home worry about you right now."
.
"Ehh, what is actually happening?" I said to Duran, and he was a bit surprised. Then he said, "You don't know?" Well, I didn't have a clue, so I kept silent. Then Duran sighed again, and he explained to me, "It's been six hours since you passed out in your classroom."
.
I was shocked by what he had just said to me, and I responded with, "what ??!" I mean, I know I had that dream, but six hours? Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration?
.
"Yes, your homeroom teacher called Mom. She said that you passed out in the classroom suddenly and had a high fever, too. At first, Mom was a bit surprised because you seemed so fine this morning."
.
Hearing what my brother was saying, I was not pretty surprised, but I acted like it... I don't want to make him or our parents any more worried than this. Not a long time after, the school bell is ringing.
.
Duran listened to the bell and then said, "It looks like it's your time to go home. Let's pack your things up."
.
"But all my stuff is in the classroom." Well, I passed out the entire time at school, though I didn't have time to take it.
.
Duran replied, "Don't worry; it's all beside your bed. I think your Class Rep brought it here. Ryan, was it?" Ahh, so Ryan brought my stuff here. I must thank him sometime later. So I'm nodding to answer Duran.
.
Duran patted my head and said, "Alright, let's go and greet your teacher first before we go."
.
I pack my things and go straight to the Teacher's room, where I meet my homeroom teacher. Coincidentally, we also meet Mrs Anna, still on standby at the school, working on her laptop.
.
I was not trying to be a rude student, so I greeted her first, "Good Afternoon, Mrs Anna," and then she looked at me. It looked like she was relieved that I had woken up, and then she greeted me too. "Oh, Richan, Good Afternoon. Are you feeling well now?"
.
"Yes, Mrs Anna, thank you for helping me, and I'm sorry for today," I replied to Mrs Anna. Then she nodded and talked to me again. She said, "Ahh, that's okay. I see you with your Brother, Duran, was it?" she said while looking at Duran behind me.
.
Duran then came forward and bowed to Mrs Anna. Then he said, "It's been a long time, Mrs Anna," and he straightened up again. It seems Mrs Anna knows Duran. Hmm, I wonder why. Ah, I remember that Duran is also an alumnus of this school. Maybe that's why.
.
"Yes, it is. It has been six years since your graduation, and what a surprise that Richan is your little brother," she said while looking at both of us. I think she is comparing Duran and me. Then Duran replies, "Yes, mam, it seems there have not been so many changes in this school since the last time I was here."
.
Mrs Anna nodded, hearing what Duran just said, then she looked at me and said, "Alright, it's already 3 pm now, both of you should go home, and Richan, I think you need some rest. Just stay in your home for the rest of the week. Ryan will tell you if there are assignments.
.
Woahh, a holiday, Mrs Anna, is actually not that bad, I think. Then I replied to Mrs Anna, "Thank you, Mrs Anna. Then See you next week," while bowing my head.
.
After that, I got into my brother's car, and we were finally going home, but in the middle of the road, my brother asked me something.
.
"Richan," Duran called me while he was driving. "Yeah, what's up, Kak?" I replied. Then he asked me, "You know, is there something you want to say to me?" Ah, I see; I think he was concerned for me. Maybe I'm just going to keep this a secret for a while, so I said to him, "Eh? What do you mean, Kak?"
.
Duran was silent for a bit, then he said again, "Never mind, don't mind what I ask, go take a rest. I think you're not fully recovered yet." Then I nodded and replied, "Oh, okay."
.
What I saw on my brother's face was that he was worried about something. I think he is worried about me, but I can't tell him or my parents about this yet.
.
It didn't take long before we arrived home. I could see my mom waiting for me in front of the main door. She looked worried, too, so I actually felt guilty for making her worry. I got out of the car, and when I walked to the door, my mom welcomed me; she hugged me and made sure I was okay. She took my bag and brought it inside, still concerned about me.
.
I can see my Father watching TV in the living room, but I know he is worried, too. His right leg is shaking endlessly. It's one of his bad habits that comes up when my Father feels anxious.
.
I greet him, and I'm glad he stopped his anxiety when he saw me; he hugs me, and I hug back. It's normal for them to worry like this because I have never passed out before and always have a healthy body. That's why my family thought something was wrong with me, especially since I looked fine this morning, too.
.
I'm just glad that I was born into this family. Of course, I feel thankful to god every day for this grace.
