chapter 2
2 – {Adoptee of the Duke of Skylord} 2
{Adoptee of the Duke of Skylord}
People evaluated Yuria, the eldest daughter of the Duke of Arsene, as follows.
The most beautiful woman of the Arkan Empire.
It was a tribute to her beauty, and Yuria didn’t hate that part either.
But the problem was that all the other facts were buried.
Her swordsmanship is unrivaled among peers her age, and she is second in the swordsmanship department at the Second Academy, and second in the entire academy.
She was so outstanding that even the second-in-command of her department lost in a practice match with her.
But she couldn’t get over just one wall.
Theodore Sky Road.
A mysterious man who was adopted by the Duke of Skyroad.
And her fiancé.
In addition to Yuria, there were only second-ranked students in other departments, and the reason was because of Theodore’s existence.
Whenever he took an exam on a subject he rarely heard about in class, he always took first place with an overwhelming score, and in his practical skills, swordsmanship, magic, even fighting and spiritism, he peaked in all fields.
Thanks to that, he occupied the top positions in all departments except for the Divine Faculty, and to Yuria, it looked like an act of bragging.
Thanks to that, she and all the students in her other departments fell to the second place, and thanks to her being the fiancée of Theodore, the chief and the genius of geniuses, she became much more famous than being second in the swordsmanship department.
But if that were all, she wouldn’t mind Theodore.
‘That person is not sincere.’
She smiles softly at herself, but sometimes she gets the feeling that his smile is like a mask. As a result of her and her observations of him over and over again, she grasped something about him.
He had no friends.
No, he didn’t need a friend per se.
He had only followers, only subordinates.
His smile was all false, too, and he did not value most people.
The only thing he valued was the people of the Duke of Skyroad, and in other words, he was so indifferent to everyone but his family that he was so arrogant that he wouldn’t even treat them as the same person.
Yuria acknowledged his ability, but didn’t like that part of him.
But she herself is known only as his fiancée, and no matter how hard she tried to improve her skills, she couldn’t get over his wall.
Even outside of her, there were many people who did not even know that she was her second-in-come.
As much as the title of fiancée of genius Theodore is more famous, her position was all about the beautiful fiancée of the genius.
Even if it was known, she wondered if her second-in-command position was obtained with the support of her fiancé Theodore and the Duke of Arsane, and from her point of view, she was mad and suspicious.
‘I’ll go abroad and prove it. Even if I’m behind his wall, I’ll show everyone how good I am.’
That’s why Yuria decided to study abroad at the academy of the Britannia Empire, and prove her abilities there.
You must know that you are excellent even if you are not from the background of the Duke of Arsene
She had already talked about being transferred to her second year, and had obtained her father’s consent, so even her mother’s interference could not stop her.
There was just one problem.
“Are you working hard today?”
Yuria’s face slightly frowned.
That unlucky handsome man wearing a mask with a smirk was also going with him.
“Theodore.”
“Yes, Yuria. I know very well that my name is Theodore.”
Yuria glared at him as if she didn’t like it, but that was about it.
Since he didn’t do anything wrong, she didn’t hate him.
She just hated him for treating her as a fake relationship.
‘How could such a person be born?’
Not only was he inhumanly proud, but he didn’t understand everything about his arrogant attitude and fake smile.
But one thing was certain: at least he was a man who kept his promises.
“Your eyes are very hot today too? Ms. YuRia, your hot gaze seems to be looking at the high, unreachable sky.”
If there was one thing that was certain, it was that she had an extraordinary talent for making her mad.
“Keep your mouth shut.”
“Willing.”
As she said that, she really felt more intrusive to see him keep his mouth shut and not say anything.
“Whoa, that’s fine. What did you come here for?”
“Duke Arsene asked me for a favor. I promised to protect you even at the risk of my life until you go to the Britannia Empire.”
Yuria didn’t feel a throbbing emotion at his words.
Other female students would be tempted to hear that a man with such a handsome appearance, excellent ability and background would risk his life to protect her, but Yuria knew that he did not really mean anything special.
She was to protect her with only the last name of her relationship, her own fiancée, simply because she herself was her fiancée.
He was only protecting it because it was a relationship that promised marriage, but if he broke off the engagement, he would cut off all interest in himself.
“The reason you’re escorting me is because I’m just your fiancée, right?”
“Yes, that’s right. That’s right.”
“So if I hadn’t been your fiancée, would you have escorted me?”
Yuria asked the question even though she knew the answer.
“Do you want an honest answer or a false one?”
“Tell me a lie first.”
At Yuria’s words, Theodore smiled and said.
“How could I refuse the honor of escorting a lady like you, beautiful? To protect you, I would have defended you through any danger, even at the cost of my life.”
Yuria frowned at her words.
That was a lie.
How dare you lie so glitzy and like an oath!
“What is the truth?”
“The world revolves around me. Why should I waste my time on someone I don’t relate to?”
Pajik-
Yuria felt as if a string of her own reason was being cut.
She already knew it in her head, but hearing it herself made her even more upset.
The fact that I once admired that man as a prosecutor and had a fluttering heart as a woman was to the point of bitter regret.
“As expected, you are the worst.”
“No, because I’m such an excellent human being, you’re just blinded by that light. Even if you think objectively, if you look at your individual abilities, you don’t have anything better than me, right?”
Yuria, knowing that he wears a mask in front of her other women and flirts with her, hated him for saying her words that calmly scratched her insides in front of her.
I felt like I could afford to cancel my study abroad trip to the Britannia Empire if I punched that proud face.
“I really hate you.”
When Yuria spoke while glaring at him with her angry gaze, he just looked at her with her arms crossed with her calm gaze, without much expression.
For some reason, Yuria felt unfair at his attitude, which seemed to have no intention of being close.
He felt like he was losing his temper on his own.
‘Why do I keep getting mad at that man? Ha.’
I just didn’t care about this side and just treated it like a business, but for some reason I felt like I was getting too emotional for that guy.
“I hate it…”
Yuria focused on swinging her sword to forget her thoughts.
It was because it seemed that if I focused all my senses on swinging the sword, I would be able to forget about that obnoxious man even for a moment.
Theodore silently watched her wielding the sword.
It was as if his gaze was judging her level, but Yuria didn’t get angry about that part.
Her skill was far inferior to him.
Even in her last match, she felt it when she suffered a complete defeat.
‘I will never be left behind. I’ll become stronger until I can give you at least one shot, and I’ll go further and surpass you someday.’
She held the sword with such firm will, and her training continued.
Theodore continued to watch her repeating her basic movements with her beautiful silver hair flying, just raising her head slightly without saying anything.
* * *
I’m going to the Britannia Empire.
Well, I’ll be reunited with people I once called family, but I already have a real family, so I have no regrets about those things.
I just hate it.
I’m really looking forward to seeing if they recognize me or if they do, what kind of reaction they’ll make?
I’m going to slowly savor the attitude of how shameless you are, and if you haven’t grasped the subject yet, let me gradually grasp it.
Because the real [Chosen one] Was me, not that scum.
