The Chick Class Hunter is Being Filial

chapter 172

From major guilds like Brom and NAG to rising newcomers like Undang, Chase, and Blast—
All of them had gathered just to witness the Railgun.
Producer Seo asked, a little nervously.

They’d effectively traded the rights to their own dungeons in exchange for tickets to observe the Railgun demo.

As Guru stepped forward confidently, the members of Hyeonak Guild followed behind her.
Guru glanced briefly at Chase Guild’s master and a rookie named Lee Taemin, then picked a spot and launched a drone.
Once the Chick flew up into the air and settled into position, Guru lifted a fork.

“……”
She’s the one doing the demo? Jurim pressed a hand to his forehead.
Guru held the tiny fork with pride and huffed out a couple of strong puffs from her nose.

Gidan was dragging over a collapsed golem.
Made of solid rock, golems were one of the toughest monsters to deal with due to their heavy defense.
The camera cut between Jurim’s tense face and Guru’s beaming confidence.

Just as Guru tried to poke the golem with the fork—
Gidan stopped her.

All eyes turned toward the Chase Guild master.

Serhi stepped forward abruptly, cutting off the master’s attempt to feign ignorance.
He snatched the bag and gave it a good shake—revealing a hidden camera inside.
The Chase Guild master swept a hand through his hair, flustered.

Lee Taemin stepped up and apologized as well. Quiet murmurs rippled through the audience.

Once the fuss died down, Guru poked the golem with her fork.
Even though it was solid rock, the fork slid in as smoothly as if she were stabbing pudding.

Some gasps rose from the crowd, but the true astonishment came a moment later—when the projectile fired.
SWWWWWIIIIIP—
Too fast to follow with the naked eye.

It pierced clean through the golem.
And it was portable.
Clap clap clap clap!

One round of applause broke out, then another, followed by murmurs of admiration all around.
Guru hugged the fork tightly to her chest, trying not to look too pleased.
Just then, Gidan slid up beside her and put up a soundproof barrier before asking quietly,

“You modded the drone?”
The power had definitely ramped up since the previous test.
The diameter of the penetration hole had nearly doubled.

“Yup. I put in a new manastone. Den da wank went up to A!”
Guru grinned from ear to ear, proudly boasting. Gidan let out a breath.
Swapping out a single manastone and making it A-Rank?

Yeah... that thing really did deserve its nickname as a breaker of physical laws.
All it took was one demo to turn the entire playing field.
After ruffling the little genius’s hair, Gidan brought down the barrier.

The other guild members were still marveling at the golem remains.
Guru started pulling out the snacks she’d packed and went around handing them to the guild members like a campaigning politician, shaking hands and thanking them for their hard work.
From the set, cries of “So cute!” and bursts of laughter erupted.
And just like that, the friendly joint raid with several guilds came to an end.

A short series of interview clips from the Hunters followed.
— “Guildmastuh from Hyeonak? So tiny, so precious, so nice today. Why though? (laughs)”
— “Guildmastuh is so cute! Please be our Guildmastuh forever!”

— “Guildmastuh On! Thanks for the snacks! You were adorable today!”
— “She’s even cuter than she looks on video. I took so many pics.”
— “Yeah... is it okay if I, like, kidnap her and raise her myself?”

After that suspiciously serious-sounding final comment, the camera cut to Jurim’s rather displeased expression.
The next scene showed Guru sitting in a cute little room, staring straight into the camera.
Below her was a subtitle: How did it feel to try being Guildmastuh for a day?

Producer Seo gently addressed the slightly nervous girl with a warm tone.

Guru’s eyes sparkled at the soft praise, her nerves vanishing in an instant.

— “It was fun. Wike, suuuuuper fun!”
Q. Wasn’t it hard?
— “Dewas wots of work! Gwuu thawt Oppaw just pwayed in fwont of a desk all day... but dere awe so many diffycult papews and wots of tings Gwuu has to tink about.”

Ehhyo... Guru sighed with cloudy eyes, recalling the earlier incident during the raid.
She’d realized something: just because something looked simple didn’t mean it would go smoothly. That must’ve been the case for Guildmastuhs all the time—and always would be.

Guru huffed proudly.
— “Hnnng...”
Guru rolled her eyes around.

Q. A loss? What do you mean?
— “Oppaw said... enewgy woses when it changes shape. Like, big ciwcle becomes tiny twiangle. Same for feewings too. If Gwuu uses wods, dey don’t awways come out wight. So Gwuu needs an ampwifier! Wike cuddwes and massages and saying ⊛ Nоvеlιght ⊛ (Read the full story) ‘Nooo’ or ‘No goooo’ when Oppaw does tings dat not safe... ‘Cause wods awone can’t dewiver aww of Gwuu’s big ciwcle feewings.”

Guru spread her arms wide and flapped them up and down.

Q. Guru fwiend is sooo smart! Can you say one wast ting to your dad?

Guru stuck her whole face toward the camera lens.
When they told her it was okay to step back a little, she straightened up and shouted with all her might.

Guru made a heart with both arms and flashed a bright, happy smile as the footage came to an end.

Back on set, Jurim gently stroked the face of his watch, a soft smile on his lips.
Producer Seo looked at him, watching closely.
There was definitely something about the man that drew attention even when he wasn’t doing anything.

Apparently, high ratings weren’t just about flashy looks or bold talk.
Just then, Jurim, who’d been watching the video with unblinking focus, met Seo PD’s eyes.
Seo gave a small smile.

“That was such a heartwarming video.”
Jurim returned the smile, wordlessly agreeing.
The moment left Seo and the crew quietly dazed, staring at him.

“It seems... that’s how you often appear to others.”
The producer's words were subtle, but his meaning clear: That’s how I always see you.
And somehow, that made the affection in the air feel even stronger—despite no blood ties between them.

“As a single dad, it couldn’t have been easy to decide on adoption... but there must be lots of challenges, right?”
Jurim touched his temple and nodded.
“Well... yeah. A bit of everything.”

“She seems to get into a lot of trouble, huh? Even in the video, you could kinda tell... just a little?”
Producer Seo tried to cushion the comment. Jurim let out a quiet laugh.
“It’s less that she causes problems and more that I still have a lot to learn as a father.”

The unexpected answer made Seo blink. Jurim continued.
“Sometimes, what I thought was for her sake turned out to just be my own stubbornness. But... I’m learning.”
