The Chaotic One

Chapter 25: Red Moon

The moon illuminated the night with its golden glow, lighting up the chaos below with its gentle light.

The moon, bright and calm, suddenly changed. Its gentle golden glow began to shift into crimson, like the redness of blood. It gave off an ominous feeling. Right after, a unique black pattern appeared on the moon.

The golden light that once shone through the night turned into a crimson flood. The air grew heavy.

Ordinary and powerful people alike were shocked by the scene—some were scared, some curious, some cried while praying to the moon, others panicked, terrified of who or what was responsible for this phenomenon. But those with greater knowledge, who had spent long years in the Guild Library, remained calm. They knew of entities capable of such feats.

However, those with sharper instincts and intuition were overwhelmed. They felt the gaze of death. Tracing the source, their eyes rose to the sky—and saw the red moon.

At that moment, they did not see a moon—they saw the eye of a higher entity, the start and the end of all things.

They dropped to their knees, vomiting and screaming in terror. Onlookers rushed to help them calm down, stunned by what they witnessed.

The moon glowed with its crimson light, illuminating the entire universe. All moons across the cosmos turned the same.

The gods trembled in fear. They could feel it—that the power radiating from the moon could erase them with ease if it so desired. None dared to move. All fell silent, except for a few goddesses and one god.

"Oh... is a god unsealing their Arcanum?" Red Rose said, intrigued by the phenomenon before her. But she quickly shook off the thought. Not even gods or absolute beings could do this—unless they had a contract or bond with the moon itself, which was nearly impossible.

She looked around and saw everything bathed in the moon's crimson glow, turning the world red.

Lyra looked up and frowned. "It looks familiar... I've read about this phenomenon somewhere..."

Ryuu stared at the moon with a serious expression.

Kaguya, on the other hand, subconsciously began to sing a nursery song, one famous in her homeland—a song that told the tale of a being known as the Rabbit Goddess.

Kaguya's enchanting, soft, and echoing voice rang through the area, adding to the mysterious phenomenon that no one could explain.

"White is her hair, long as the stars,

Eyes like the night behind silver bars.

She floats in robes of endless white,

A whisper born from lunar light."

"No beast nor blade can touch her skin,

She rules all laws that dwell within.

With but a glance, the world will bend,

Time and space at her command."

"From sky to sea, from dust to tree,

All bend before her divinity.

She needs no words, she needs no throne,

The void itself is hers alone."

"She is power, pure and wide,

A moon-born queen the stars can't hide.

One hand to tear, one hand to heal,

A goddess clothed in fate and steel.

A being that holds everything."

"Is she real?" Lyra asked, sweat dripping down her face. She'd read countless books from cities and Guild libraries, and fear now etched itself deep into her expression.

She knew. She knew exactly who Kaguya was referring to: the Rabbit Goddess—the one who ended all opposition, who ended the great war started by the foolish gods and mortals of heaven and earth.

Alise, watching the scene unfold, whispered a name only a few ever dared to speak. "Kaguya Otsutsuki."

A sacred name in the far east—one only the oldest gods and ancient beings of the mortal world truly understood. A name that evoked fear in their minds, bodies, and souls. As captain of a familia, Alise knew the hidden truths behind that name—knowledge passed only to those worthy of it.

Red Rose scoffed, "Enough with that. Let's continue. This has nothing to do with us."

Beings who could influence the moon were far above the Absolute Beings. Such existences were forbidden from entering the Old World. This was common knowledge—why the people of the Old World could still live in peace, even when such powers occasionally displayed their presence.

When the moon turned red, Finn's thumb began to hurt like hell—numb with pain. Then, when a strange marking appeared, his senses flared, and he felt the gaze of death itself. Unable to withstand the overwhelming pressure, he began vomiting.

Bete, Tione, Tiona, and Erlick all stopped fighting.

"What's going on with the moon? Did you do this, Evilus?" Tione demanded.

Erlick shook his head. "Do you think we have that kind of power?"

Bete stood frozen like a statue. His instincts told him one thing—play dead.

Tiona noticed. Normally, she would laugh at such a sight, but she didn't. She didn't even have the strength to do so. She could feel it—the overwhelming power behind the red moon was no joke. Especially when that mysterious pattern appeared.

In a certain market near a certain Guild's warehouse…

The marketplace had become a warzone. The fighting paused for a moment when the red moon appeared—but it resumed just as quickly. No one paid it mind. They all believed that such a being couldn't enter the Old World, so they were safe. They believed it had nothing to do with them.

But they were wrong—this time was different.

Ganesha and Hermes Familia held the battlefield.

"This isn't good. The front line is collapsing—they can't hold on much longer," an adventurer reported to a beautiful woman with aqua-blue hair and glasses.

This woman was Asfi Al Andromeda, captain of Hermes Familia.

She remained in the rear, issuing commands, while Shakti Varma, captain of Ganesha Familia, led the frontlines.

Asfi frowned. "What's the problem?"

"Child bombers," the adventurer answered calmly—but Asfi could sense the fury buried in his voice.

Her expression darkened. Killing intent began to leak out.

Frontline

Shakti, always known for her cold and composed demeanor, cracked. Her face twisted into a grim expression—as though she was ready to kill someone. Before her were a group of children wrapped in high yield bombs capable of injuring her a first class adventurer.
