Prologue
It is an understated truth, that we humans desire to be gods, and yet we also distance ourselves from them by labeling them as separate entities. We worship them. We fear them. We respect them. But we can never truly understand them, for their existence itself is based on our inability to reach their heights, our inability to comprehend what they see. Yet we humans continue to ascend to new heights, with our technology progressing near constantly, to the point where it may someday surpass the magic of the gods itself. At that point, I wonder, what gods would we worship? Or would we ascend and take the title of gods for ourselves?
But I digress. The recent conquest of the people of the sky, the followers of Jupiter, marks a significant change in the status quo. For if even the followers of the most powerful god can be beaten, what purpose does the power of the gods hold? As a journalist, I consider my job to be to observe with unclouded eyes, and with them I foresee a change in the times. With every major development our society is transformed. The decline of the gods has been unstoppable ever since they first retreated to the heavens and with this conquest, the final blow has been dealt, and the age of man shall begin. But is this truly where the best future lies? That, I'm afraid only time will tell.
