A sun swallowed by a coiling serpent of black flame. Represents forbidden fusion—light devoured by shadow, and the birth of hidden power.

The storm didn't announce itself with thunder. It came with a silence so thick it cracked.

Arjun stood on the edge of the Hollow Vale, the last breath of the doctrinal continent behind him. Before him, ash dunes coiled like sleeping titans, and the air shimmered—not from heat, but from suppressed screams.

He wasn't alone.

Vaelari walked ahead of him, her long black veil trailing like spilled ink behind her. She carried no weapon. She needed none. Her presence was blade enough.

> "You are not ready for the Veiled Dominion," she said without turning.

> "Was I ready for any of it?"

> "No," she said. "But you learned to survive. That is rarer than knowledge."

The sun above them flickered.

Then it died.

The sky turned crimson. Not darkness—but a blood-soaked eclipse, bathing the sand in haunting hues. It wasn't just an astronomical event. Arjun felt it in his bones.

Something ancient had awoken.

---

They reached the Whispering Pyres.

Once, this land had been alive with phoenixes. But now the air was heavy with memory. Towering pyres of bone and obsidian lined their path. From each, spirals of black flame hissed without smoke. And each flame whispered.

Whispers in tongues he had never learned—but somehow understood.

> "Burn me to know me." "The fire does not consume—it reveals." "What you bury in silence, the flame exhumes."

Vaelari knelt before one of the smaller pyres. A ceremonial act. Not worship.

> "Every Dominion has a first trial. This is yours."

> "What do I have to burn?"

> "Your name."

---

Trial of the Nameless Flame

Arjun hesitated.

Names had power. He had learned that in the Temple of Tongues. In the Valley of Eyes. From the blood on Kaamini's lips. From the dreams of his mother—still echoing through fractured doctrine.

But if he could not walk nameless, he could never wield true authority.

He stepped forward.

The flame surged. His body tensed.

He whispered his full name—every syllable, every secret attached to it—and let it drift into the fire.

The flames screamed.

They rose into a column that became a mirror of fire, showing versions of Arjun: The child who cried behind the fig tree. The boy who held Kaamini's dying gaze. The man who drank the first Doctrine.

Then the mirror shattered.

And Arjun stood alone.

Nameless.

---

A New Tongue for a Nameless Soul

Vaelari approached and handed him a scroll—charred black, sealed with molten glass.

> "This is your new tongue. The script of flame. The Dominion tongue."

> "I can't read it."

> "Not with your eyes."

When he unsealed it, no letters revealed themselves. But he understood it—as if the script bled meaning directly into his veins.

It spoke of the Five Flame Lords. The betrayal of the Sixth. The Ember Tree that grows only once every thousand years.

And the truth: Doctrine was never one flame—it was forged from five. One for each Dominion.

Arjun was meant to bear all five.

But first, he must survive them.
