The Blessed Farm Girl Has a Spatial Storage

Chapter 94: Persuading Younger Uncle

The concept of profit and risk naturally came from Grandpa Bai. But Zhao Zhitong thought it made perfect sense.

When Sun Youcai realized he had been lectured by his little niece, he looked at her curiously. "Hey, you little girl, who did you hear all this from? Your arguments are quite well-reasoned."

Zhao Zhitong pouted and said proudly, "I read it in a book. Younger Uncle, you don't like reading, so of course you wouldn't know."

At this point, Sun Youcai fell into deep thought. To be honest, Zhao Zhitong's long-winded reasoning had really touched him.

He thought for a moment and said, "This profit and risk thing you're talking about... although it sounds reasonable, think about it: none of us in the family knows how to cultivate flower seeds. This is clearly all risk and no profit."

Seeing her Younger Uncle was somewhat persuaded, Zhao Zhitong immediately got off his lap and said excitedly, "Younger Uncle, you can't just back down because you don't know how! It doesn't matter if we don't know; we can learn! No one is born knowing everything. I have a book on cultivating flower seeds; we can just follow the book and learn step by step."

That book was actually Grandpa Bai's. He had let Zhao Zhitong read it, and she automatically assumed he had given it to her, which made Grandpa Bai so angry his beard trembled.

Zhao Zhitong continued to persuade her Younger Uncle, "The book says that peonies can be propagated asexually. We can grow many, many more from just one plant..."

By the end of the conversation, she even invited her Younger Uncle back to her house to see the peonies in her courtyard. They were so beautiful, and everyone loves beautiful things, so they would definitely be able to sell them.

Sun Youcai was silent for a moment; the idea had really taken root in his heart. But reclaiming wasteland is a big undertaking, and I need to discuss it with my family, he thought.

So he told Zhao Zhitong, "Reclaiming wasteland isn't out of the question, but I need to discuss it thoroughly with your grandfather and your father first."

"Okay, okay!"

Zhao Zhitong's face instantly lit up with a smile. Hugging Sun Youcai, she cheered, "Hooray!"

Once Sun Youcai made up his mind, he immediately went to find his father and told him about Zhao Zhitong's idea.

Sun Kang's first reaction was naturally to disagree.

Then Sun Youcai recounted Zhao Zhitong's earlier persuasion about 'profit and risk' to Sun Kang, adding, "Dad, I really think it's feasible. Tongtong said she has a book that teaches how to grow flowers. We can just follow the book and learn. We'll definitely be able to grow them."

Sun Kang was somewhat moved by this as well.

He had three sons. The eldest, while not an expert in medicine, knew many medicinal herbs and could run a medicinal herb business. He wouldn't have to worry about the eldest son's family once he was gone.

As for the second son, although he was a bit slow, he was strong and a good farmer. Moreover, the wife he married was thrifty and knew how to manage a household. Once he was gone, they could support their large family.

It was his youngest son who had always been clever, and Sun Kang had high hopes for him. Unfortunately, he disliked studying medicine.

Now, he was already fourteen, approaching the age for marriage. Although he had two capable older brothers, finding a good match wouldn't be a worry. However, Sun Kang was still concerned about this youngest son. His mind was too active; as the saying goes, his aspirations were too high!

He wasn't willing to farm diligently, nor was he willing to study medicine seriously. In the future, he might not live as well as his two older brothers. This was what worried Sun Kang the most.

Hearing his son's words now, Sun Kang thought he could let him try. They wouldn't clear much, just one mu of land to start. If they really couldn't grow the flowers, they could switch to planting medicinal herbs. That way, they wouldn't suffer a loss at harvest time.

With these thoughts in mind, Sun Kang and Sun Youcai followed Zhao Zhitong to the Zhao family home that evening.

At the time, Zhao Dong was in the courtyard sawing wood to make a bed.

Since Zhao Ya had returned, Zhao Cheng and Zhao Yu could temporarily squeeze into one bed, but a girl like Zhao Ya couldn't share with them.

So, he planned to make a bed and partition the west room with a curtain. Zhao Ya would sleep on the inside, and her two brothers would sleep on the outside. This would be the arrangement for now.

He had already started planning to build a new house; soon they would have enough rooms.

Sun Mei and Zhao Ya, who were helping out, were surprised to see Sun Kang and Sun Youcai arrive.

They hurriedly ushered the two men inside and went into the house to boil water for them.

Zhao Dong also put down his work and sat in the room chatting with his father-in-law and younger brother-in-law.

Sun Kang and Sun Youcai didn't waste much time on pleasantries. They went straight to the point, explaining their idea and asking for Zhao Dong's opinion.

Zhao Dong was quite surprised. He hadn't expected the little girl to actually persuade Sun Youcai and even bring Sun Kang along with her.

After some discussion, the three men all felt it was feasible. So, they decided to start by clearing one mu of land as a trial.

Zhao Zhitong sat on the doorsill, her small head propped in her hands, listening to the three men talk.

Seeing her father agree, she was overjoyed. Then, she pulled her Younger Uncle and grandfather to see the peony flowers she had bought that day.

After sending off her grandfather and Younger Uncle, Zhao Zhitong, tired from playing, joined her siblings Zhao Cheng, Zhao Yu, and Zhao Ya to watch Zhao Dong make the bed.

Sun Mei was in the kitchen cooking dinner.

After all, Zhao Dong and Sun Mei were not from this world. They found it somewhat difficult to adapt to the local custom of two meals a day, so their family still ate three meals a day.

By the time Sun Mei finished cooking, Zhao Dong had also finished making the bed.

He had made the simplest type of wooden plank bed. Several people helped carry it into the room. They placed the wooden planks on the frame, laid out the bedding, and set up the mosquito net. The bed was ready.

Zhao Zhitong looked at the new bed and eagerly declared she wanted to sleep with her sister tonight.

Seeing her whimsical daughter, Sun Mei couldn't help but laugh. "Tongtong, didn't you say just last night that you wanted Mother to sleep with you until you're a hundred years old? Why have you changed your mind today?"

Zhao Zhitong announced, "I don't want to anymore! I don't want to! Daddy's snoring is so loud! I don't want to sleep with Daddy; I want to sleep with Sister Yaya!"

Poor Zhao Dong, caught in the crossfire, was left speechless. "..."

After dinner, the family washed up and went to bed. Zhao Zhitong cheerfully squeezed into one bed with Zhao Ya.

Once they were lying down together, Zhao Zhitong, afraid that Sister Yaya would dwell on sad things, chatted and giggled with her. After some time, Zhao Zhitong drifted off into a dazed sleep.

"Sister? Sister?" Zhao Ya called softly a few times, discovering her younger sister was already asleep.

She sat up, picked up the small quilt Zhao Zhitong had kicked aside, and gently covered her with it. Then, she lay down again, closing her eyes with a smile. It's so good to have a younger sister.

The next morning, as soon as the rooster crowed, Zhao Zhitong woke up. Her Younger Uncle and father were going to clear wasteland today, and she wanted to watch.

So, she scrambled up, startling Zhao Ya awake in the process.

A moment later, Zhao Cheng and Zhao Yu in the outer room also woke up. They saw Zhao Zhitong rush out from the inner room, fling open their bed curtains, and shout, "Lazybones, get up!"

Startled, Zhao Cheng and Zhao Yu hurriedly pulled their curtains shut and shooed her away.

"Hahaha, meanies!"

Zhao Zhitong was incredibly happy and trotted out to find her father.

Zhao Dong had already washed up. He was by the vegetable patch, sharpening an iron shovel and a sickle on a large stone.

Zhao Zhitong ran over, poked her little head close, and said in a sweet, childish voice, "Daddy! I want to go with you to clear the wasteland!"

Zhao Dong looked up at her. "What would you do there? Aren't you going to school later?"
